Vin recently mentioned that he'd seen an early cut of the film and that he was pretty much blown away by it. I have a feeling this is going to end up like Riddick, where it doesn't do that well in theaters but kills on DVD sales. Then again, the combination of Science Fiction and Marvel might pull a lot of people into the seats. I sure as shit know I'm going to be there.
I'm am not a comic book person at all, but do enjoy comic book movies. I was very 'meh' on this when I heard about it, seemed a little TOO "out there" for me. Also I absolutely abhor movie theaters and will generally only go once or twice a year just to make the wife happy. That trailer has me wanting to check it out in the theater, maybe not opening weekend, but if the reviews are good I might make the effort. So for whatever that is worth, you can consider me a casual who is interested, maybe that is a good sign I dunno.

That's because Almost Human went full retard, similar to Terra Nova. They completely lost me at robots buying 'counterfeit souls'.
Uh, Almost Human has been well-received with a solid fanbase. The problem is that each episode is like a low-budget movie and the ratings simply aren't high enough to justify budgetary demands.

Not quite. Massive scifi-opera operating in what the previous movies suggested was just the real world, weird not-human-but-look-like-human races, freaking enemies named necro-somethings?

This is going to end up like Chronicles of Riddick.

As far as the summer as a whole goes, I liked to joke that Summer has turned into Christopher Nolan and comic book movies, but this year has made that disturbingly true: It's down to Christopher Nolan (Interstellar, Transcendence by his longtime cinematographer Wally Pfister) and comic book movies (Xmen, Captain America, GotG, maybe Spiderman 2), and a few outliers (Edge of Tomorrow, 22 Jump Street).

I'm starting to think this is going to be really awesome. They can just do whatever they want in this movie and kick the craziness up to 11.

yeah. and its not the first time a show has gotten good ratings, been fairly popular, but just too expensive to go on.
Thats what killed euraka on syfy eventually for example.

My gripe is playing ep. 3 as episoe 10 episode 10 as episode 4? Besides not following an Arc the characters interact different each episode. With that said the shows good,

Are you high? Dredd was one of the best comic adaptations made to date. If it's as good as Dredd I'll be happy as fuck.
Watched Dredd on netflix last night based on comments here. Was a really good movie. Better then 95% of movies I see these days. I don't see how Dredd didn't do better at box office.

And/or none of the people who would have seen it early/at all in the theaters knew it existed, like me.

That's why, I didn't bother with it when it came out either, just figured it would suck because no one talked about and I'm like a couple of guys here not into comic books, but a good action movie is a good action movie and Dredd was solid in that regard.

for me and my friends, it had the same problem as the conan reboot, it was only being shown in 3d.

You forgot the Sin City sequal and is the new 300 movie based on a comic book or them just trying to capitalize on 300's success?

Help out a non-marvel guy here: What's the power level of the GotG? I'm sure it varies based on the writer (just like every comic book hero), but are they generally perceived to be stronger than the Avengers? (I'm only guessing that since they deal with larger scale, more powerful threats). Compared to the Avengers movie, my guess without knowing anything about them is:

Starlord: A little stronger than Iron Man (Does he have cybernetic enhancements in the movie? I read he got some after losing a fight in one of the comics.)
Drax, Gamora, and Groot: Between Thor and Hulk? (add in super intelligence for Groot).
Rocket Raccoon: Intelligence & guns, so lots of victories through cunning and firepower, but physically overmatched...so about Captain America? (less physical perfection, more smarts & bullets).
