its called the collision detection is ass. One of the dev's posted on twitter talking about he fixed some things or somethign then shows himr unning a deer over. I guess he was doing weekend work.
This. Current state of the game means that this is the best option. Personally I love to get a rifle and go to the office building behind the police station and slowly snipe the retards camping it.
Rifle ammo is a pain to get, you can get them, but its a slow build up and you have to hope you dont die collecting rifle ammo. I did that a few days ago and some jackasses in the offroader ganged up on me and it was over. lol
I'd argue shotgun ammo is the most abundant. In fact I can think of at least 6 static 'boxes' that spawn. Pistol ammo is most common to spawn in random places. .308 is pretty rare I think, but there are static spawns for it as well. .223 are definitely the rarest which is while police station is often camped.
308's also spawn in single bedroom/cabin style houses and almost always at camps with campfires. Look for trash on the ground near those and find melee/pistol or 308s at every one.
