How much you pay, appears to be on sale 163, but not sure if that's bull shit normal prices.

Still annoyed got a sound blaster dac recommended here last year, certified refurb. Died like a month after limited warranty

Mine started acting up and it turned out the usb cable stopped working. I've never seen a cable stop working before.

I've never really cared much about this but my speakers suck and I didn't feel like buying an appropriate setup and putting all the speakers in the correct location and calibrating and all that other bullshit so I ended up spending money on headhphones.

Sennheiser HD600.

Jesus Christ I had no idea a headset could sound like this. Was a little dubious about the money I was spending but... yea, worth.

Good headphones sound better than all but the very best fixed speaker setups. Good headphones are amazing.

Had to give em the Bass, Treble and Tin test. When I worked in Manhattan I used to hear these guys in the subways on my way home from work (true story) and they sounded way different and worse after they got a record deal and I listened to them through speakers. But these headphones actually made them sound great again.

Now get a decent amp and use that website to dial in your headphones with EQAPO. It even has the settings built into the app.

Shit will blow your mind.

Was cleaning out some drawers in my office and came across some Sennheiser HD 598SE. Think I got them like 10 years ago? Not sure if they're still worth anything. Will that EQAPO thing work with them? I had a Schiit stack at one point too but haven't come across that yet.

Also found some Steelseries Arctic something something wireless headphones. Pretty sure these were from taking a survey at a DotA tournament back at TI4 or TI5 in Seattle.

Yes, they have pretty much any set of headphones dialed in that you can think of.

You used to have to go to the website and hunt down your headphones and now it's all built in. Here's the website if interested. GitHub - jaakkopasanen/AutoEq: Automatic headphone equalization from frequency responses

I use EQAPO with the Peace plugin to make it look how it is shown in the screenshots below. Included are the quick links built into the app now.

EDIT: make sure you toggle the power button at the top to ensure it's working while playing music, if not you need to go through the configurator. If you need assistnace with that just ping me. Then load up a some badass songs. Such as Seal - Crazy (I'm not a Seal fan but that song sounds nuts with a good setup).

EDIT 2: Note that some headphones are better than others, I recommend getting some HD58X or PC38X (has a mic) to really dip your toes in. I put on my HD58X when wanting to listen to music and it's a good step up from the PC38X.

Cool thanks. I’ll check in to it tonight. May have to rebuy a headphone amp if I can’t find my schiit. I maybe sent it to a forum member here a couple years ago now that we’re talking about it. Kind of getting back in to headphones as working late with kids and wife asleep, spend a lot of time listening to music.

Yeah no problem. My Hel 2 had stopped working awhile back and I busted it out the other day to try and get it working because my SoundBlaster was being a piece of shit and it fired up right away. I could tell a big difference over the GC8 immediately, I'm guessing it was a cable issue all along.

They have two new gaming amps over at Schitt and I'm thinking about getting one for my sim rig. I almost always have my headphones on these days due to the quality difference over speakers.

I love my JBL Quantum 800s but I guess JBL wants me to move on. App software works great with windows 11 but if you upgrade the app to 2.0 which has been out a long time now, it says find your device and when you click takes you to the webpage Q&A basically saying sorry buy new headphones, but if you revert the app to the 1.19 version it contines to work fine. So what the fuck is this post even?
If you run into this, it is common with all corp manu slugs so try older versions of the software.

It's really sad what companies have become. It's even more apparent when you watch old commercial mash-ups on youtube.

Back on topic, I really want to know what a high end setup of headphones sound like but I can't make myself spend the money while I still have a good working setup. I really wish I would have spent the extra 50 bucks and got the HD6XX and I often wonder what the difference is.

Just looking at the Sennheiser website (which is also a pain in the dick to search) it seems like headsets with mics are an afterthought. How good is the HD6XX over the PC38X? I'd rather get the best of both worlds but they don't seem to have very many mic options.

Had 2 38X's and the dials for volume and/or the mic swivel started fucking up quickly. Wouldn't recommend them.

I picked up a pair of Used - Very Good HD600s on Friday from Amazon for $289 think it was. Checked eBay and all those were around $299 + shipping. Both my Sony XM4/5 were from Amazon Used so I’ve had pretty good luck.

The HD58X were much cheaper on eBay, around $120 but some others cheaper than that. eBay is still a little sketchier still but generally I trust sellers with hundreds or thousands of feedback.

Should be here on Wednesday. So I’ll have a pair to work with on my gaming computer and work desk and not go back and forth.

Used? Do you replace the cloth part of the muffs when you get them, because having some unknown persons skin, oil, and sweat imbedded (along with who knows what may have been spilled/soaked through) due to hours and hours of use, sitting on my skin sounds disgusting.

Watch an Asmondgold video and look at his room/house, would you want to wear his headphones? Cost of shit doesn't necessarily translate in terms of how dirty people live. I used to talk to the cleaning ladies growing up, and they would tell me how nasty a bunch of middle class+ houses they cleaned were, some of which really made an impression.

i buy a lot of stuff "used" from amazon, 8/10 times the box is just fucked up, original packaging and bags is all there

but yea, headphones and stuff i would come into contact a lot like mice or keyboards, i won't chance it

most electronics i wouldn't chance, would never do it for a video card, lulz
