With like four ticks of Emp Thau on it, it becomes basically the craziest board clear in the game!

I only said I can see it replacing twisted nether. The only thing you have to ask is how often do you cast TN turn 8 or 9. Is it often that TN saves you turn 8 or 9?, then stick with TN, but if you're usually at 10 mana anyway then this card is definitely better than TN.

Also if they so happen to add a neutral minion or demon that costs 1 less for each minion killed that turn then it becomes far better.

Doom! is pretty awful, but pretty par for the course with Blizzard never printing decent board clears. The drawback of milling yourself isn't even an issue, if you mill 2 cards and you kill six creatures it's a fair trade. The problem is that it costs 10 mana, the only way this thing is playable is if it clears the board, heals you for 10 and draws you cards, and even then it would be meh. Board clears are supposed to help you to stabilize as a control player, and if you haven't stabilized by turn 10 you're dead. Like this card is slightly better than Deathwing, and we all know how much play he sees in constructed, as a singleton in the greediest control or dragon decks as a turn 26 play. WOOOO BABY.

Symmetric board clears should be cheap, but for some reason flamestrike which is one sided is 7, and twisting nether which is symmetric is 8.

Does the possibility exist that I'll need a board clear on turn 8 or 9 and can't wait til turn 10? Ok TN is better.

I think you meant to say hellfire is 3 mana cheaper than flamestrike because apparently health doesn't matter.

Where are people saying that? Reddit?
Nobody on this board seems very excited over it, which is different than when Aviana/Mistcaller were debuted. I still like both of those cards but Volzasj seems so much worse. You need a minion to stick for Volzasj to do anything, at least Aviana/Mistcaller are more proactive.

Nobody got Boom right from what I remember.

Nobody here was excited for Aviana. I did think mistcaller would be better than it is, but most people didn't.

Then again in this thread every new card debuted is terrible. It's your highest % chance at being correct!

I like C'Thun and believe there will be C'Thun decks. I'm also luke warm on some others like Hogger and the Doomsayer, though Doomsayer is likely only a niche pick in some decks. Hoarder might be okay too. But yes, tons of really bad cards too.

I was one of the few people that loved Aviana, and I wasn't alone at the time

Edit: Also the forbidden spells seem decent

For expansions Blizzards tends to hold the "good" stuff back until closer to release and then preview it.

With that said we're not going to see another Naxx or GVG anytime soon. In hindsight the power creep in those two expansions was a lot higher than expected and I think Blizzard is going to be a bit gun shy with the next few expansions.

So far nothing really impresses the hell out of me. The Forbidden cards might find a niche and I'm guessing that at least one class will be able to put together a viable C'Thun deck. As said a few times, the neutral C'Thun cards pass the vanilla test so they're playable and could be very good if one or more classes can put together a solid C'Thun deck. Hogger feels like another Troggzor to me (but with Boom rotating out he might be playable). Doomsayer is a very high risk / high reward card (I assume that BGH is going to take an axe to face but you still run the risk of getting nothing out of him beyond a turn 5 soft taunt). Polluted Hoarder is OK but I think Gnomish Inventor is actually better (I've always thought she was underrated. A 2/4 is a big enough body that it has to be dealt with and you get the card up front).

Don't get me wrong. Some of the stuff looks playable but nothing is terribly exciting. And going back to what I said before I think that's by design. Blizzard does not want another Naxx or GVG.

Are you guys biting on the pre-order? This is the first cycle that I've saved up a bunch of gold and dust, and I am considering not pre-ordering. I have like 5600 gold and 2600 dust plus all the GvG cards that are rotating out and could be DE'd for more dust. With so much changing, I think I'm going to hold off this cycle and see how things shake out.

I pre-ordered, but I always do. Normally takes ~100 packs to get all the essentials, so 50 packs bought and 50 with gold.
The preorder deal is usually the best value $/pack not counting the amazon deals you can find sometimes.

I haven't yet but it's only a matter of time before I do. I have just over 6,000 gold and over 7,000 dust. I figure the 50 packs from the preorder will be all I buy though. By the time it launches I shold have another one or two thousand gold. That's about what I went into TGT with and it worked out really well. Got almost everything I needed right off the bat.

I like to spend my gold on arena and I'm not infinite, so it's a net loss. Plus, for the amount of time I sink into this game, I feel like they deserve *some* money even though I know they aren't hurting for it. ~$125 over the course of the year is pretty much nothing.

Think I'm waiting for now, still not seeing a whole lot of cards I even want yet. Gonna wait it out for more reveals. It's probably the best deal to pre order but so far I'm not seeing it.

Sometimes your opponents make really smart decisions and sometimes you're left wondering how'd they rank up so far. At rank 6, just played a rogue that went full retard turn 6. Keep in mind I'm on warrior. Two coins, eviscerated face, prep, something I'm forgetting, van cleef, oil to make a 15/12 van cleef. Its not uncommon my opponents make retarded plays like that, but luckily for them I don't always have the answer in hand, unfortunately for this rogue I had multiple.
