Yeah, I caught myself doing the same thing as I moved up to 8, then 7, then 6, and then I just said fuck it, I don't care what rank I am. I haven't been playing as much ladder though because I've still been spending a lot of time in arenas because there are still a few cards I'd like to craft. Mainly looking to get a tinkmaster and black knight now, not sure which one I'll craft first.I capped out at rank 6 and decided to just stop there.
In my opinion the new ranking system has good points and bad points. The good is that it is far more robust than the old system where anyone could, eventually, be a 3 star masters player. With lots of ranks you get a much better idea of where you actually stand. The bad is the ability to lose ranks. The reason that this is so bad is because it leads to lots of netdecking and only the most competitive decks being played in ranked mode. There is no room to test a deck when the ability to derank is very likely as you tweak things. Personally I think you should be able to derank but I'd like to see stepping stones that you can't drop below (every 5 ranks makes sense to me as that is when a new star is added and the border changes).
Personally I don't play nearly as much as I used to under the old system. I got to rank 6 and realized I wasn't going to go much further so pretty much stopped playing outside of finishing the daily quest in casual mode. Even though I had nothing to play for under the old system (being one of many 3 star master players), I actually played a lot more to test out different deck ideas and tweak things.
Nozdormu is semi-useful purely for the metagame aspect of "No, make your playsNOW". Some people simply cannot cope with that and make hilarious misplays.Three Legenadaries short of a complete set.... King Krush being the only one I have any actual interest in. Millhouse and Norzdomu are not good at all imo.
a lot of it is what kind of decks your facing at your rank. The legendary players play against the top decks, so you start seeing less aggro, more warrior OTK and druids. Rank 4 i bet you still see some murlocs, lots of warlock aggro, etc.Frustrating thing for me is I watch a lot of streams of legendary players and have played their decks, played my decks, etc., and when I watch their streams I make the same decision looking at their board that they did. Not sure why I can't get past rank 4.
I have a ton of games under my belt though. More than at least a couple of people I know who are legendary, one of whom got there playing a deck I gave them (which is frustrating). Maybe it really comes down to luck and hitting my counters a lot, but since there isn't anything I can do about that...it's just the number of games they play. if your deck is consistent it will move up, and then it's just a matter of getting lucky to avoid your counters, and playing enough games that your wins steadily pull ahead of your losses.
I played vs Murloc rush once today. I played five Warlocks total, three were running giants/control (Veev played it most of yesterday and today, hence the spike), one was running the same kind of deck I am. That is about the same ratio. I won all of them to, a lot of people play Warlock mirror incorrectly. If I ran into nothing but Warlocks I'd be happy.i dont doubt that you see the same decks but youll see more murlocs at rank 4 than you will the 4/50 in legendary. You have to build/play against the decks you face more often.
Got killed earlier by an OTK alextraza in arena with 28health left when opponent was at 3 and dead next turn to a starfire. Good times. He had some shit on the board but it wasn't threatening since I had so much health plus I couldn't clear it efficiently, molten giant and shit.Ready to kill my opponent on next turn I have 12 HP, he topdecks ragnaros , attacks me with his 4/4 and then ragnaros hits me out of 5 possible targets
