I finally get another legendary and it's goddamn Anomalus. I'm not sure there is or has been a less playable legendary.
Flame leviathan says hi.

Edit - Oh and actually I had someone play Anomalus against me yesterday to good effect.

You're probably right that Flame Leviathan is worse, but at least I can see some kind of deck that was intended to go in (almost all spells and big guys). Whatever did Anomalus get played in, some kind of Reno mage?

Anomalus is just too slow in the meta and doesn't fit Mage playstyle, but I put him in some Mage decks for the lols. He's like a doomsayer since 8 damage kills almost everything. I've had him win me some games for sure against other control/mid-range decks. Drop him turn 9 before N'Zoth. If it was a slower meta he might see a little bit of play. Mage in general is kinda weak atm.

Fuck power overwhelming and warlock's ability to get 4 of them.
Dark Peddler is seriously retarded.

Blizzard on the State of Hearthstone - IGN

The state of standard is healthy? What crack are the devs smoking? I mean I haven't been playing it, haven't even been playing arenas because I've been totally absorbed in Overwatch. But hasn't everyone been saying the meta is complete shit and pretty much 95% Zoo & Shaman aggro?

Everyone saying it doesn't necessarily make it true though. Going by thevS meta report(the only one that I know of that actually collects some data), Warrior has been the most played class for the last four weeks and midrange shaman is twice as common as aggro shaman. There is a lot zoo though.

I'd say it's a better state than when everyone were playing secret pally, patron warrior or undertaker hunter.

I agree, and we see what classes got fucked the hardest in standard right there too. Priest, Paladin and to a lesser degree Mage. The game is always going to have an OP'ish class or two topping the ladder, right now its shaman and warrior.

I'll absolutely deal with the new shaman cancer rather than undertaker hunter or secret trees. The meta has already started to evolve around shaman and though its annoying I don't think it quite ranks on the bullshit factor of those other two historical cancers. Really its probably less annoying than zoo, and zoo isn't really new in standard, just adjusted but much of the same old bullshit making it work.

Aside from those two and a half bottom dwellers the standard meta has a good variety of archetypes to go around for everyone. And if you are hell bent on grinding priest or mage or paladin, they retain their old OP tools in wild so you still can. There's even Eater of Secrets now to keep the MC shenanigans in check more.

Really though, they cut priest's fucking nuts off in standard. That's my biggest gripe so far.

At any rate, the rumors are already starting on the next adventure pack (Pandaria?) so that shit could hit in the next six weeks or so and who know what might change.

The reason Warrior is played heavily is because there are like 5 different Warrior decks out there right now. When you go up against a Warrior you have no idea if you're queuing into Control, Tempo, Dragon, Pirate, or C'Thun Warrior.

I've been playing a lot of Mid-Range Hunter trying to finish out a Golden Portrait. I'm actually surprised that Tempo Storm rates them as high as they do (the top Tier 2 deck). They have some very bad matchups (Shaman in general and Tempo Warrior) and the lack of card draw hurts really badly. Call of the Wild might be the single most broken card in the game but it's "balanced" by being on a class that is really struggling at the moment. Roughly 60 more wins and I'm done with Hunter for awhile. It never was a favorite class of mine.

Priest suffers the same problem they always have. They're super reactionary and overly reliant on combos. They are still one of the most annoying classes in the entire game when things line up for them with their thief cards but they fall on their face really easily. One thing I thought was interesting though was Kibler's thoughts on Northshire. He's cut them from all of his Priest decks because they are very hard to get any value out of these days. I tend to agree with this. They can be clutch and grab you 3 or 4 cards on occasion but they're often dead cards that don't trade well with anything.

Warrior isn't heavily played because it's op, it's heavily played because almost every version of warrior matches up well against shaman. And yeah without zombie chow or deathlord I cut cleric from all my priest lists, shortly before I deleted all my priest lists.

And really, paladin didn't get shafted nearly as bad as mage, N'Zoth pally is a very good deck that just matches up very poorly with the meta atm. Aggro paladin hasn't changed, it's still 'get a broken divine favor and win, otherwise lose'. Priest would still be viable in a very control heavy meta, which is obviously something that we'll probably never see in standard, and mage is just shit. Tempo mage essentially has two ways to win, either get a busted early game start with mana wyrm or get a really big swing turn in the mid game with a flamewaker play. Freeze mage would be viable if the meta didn't primarily consist of super fast decks and warrior decks to counter them.

Warrior might not be OP by whatever vague definition that holds, but it's still played a ton, arguably more than shaman, so I'm not really sure what the point is. And if the claim is that shaman is somehow overpowered at the moment I have a hard time seeing how that holds true when they match up badly against a lot of warrior lists and the heavily played zoolocks.

I stoped playing after Nax in 2014. Looking to get back into the game again. should i skip the adventure expansions and focus on the old gods packs? thinking about spending about $50. If i buy one adventure, league is cheaper but has more cards, is the quality of card as good?

Any advice is appreciated.

Lol greedy Hallazeal is really good against aggro Shaman. Just healed for 28 in a single turn on turn 7 against an enemy's full board with me having an empty board. Only took 1 Emperor charge. So funny.

I imagine reddit has a complete guide to optimal card acquisition for new players. I'd check there first.
