Lol I just had a Mage draft where I saw 7 Flamestrikes. I ended up with 4. I prioritize my 3rd one a few ranks lower than I normally do, and my 4th even further, but they were up against shite picks. The 5th, 6th and 7th were up against SSC, Harvest Golem and Frostbolt so that wasn't hard. More than 4 is just bad imo. But I've never actually played with 4, should be interesting. x4 Flamestrike, x3 SSC, x2 Harvest Golem, x2 Frostbolt, x2 Defender of Argus, x0 Water Elemental, x0 Fireball, x0 Polymorph, x0 Blizzard.

I did just go 11-3 with a Rogue though, been a long time since I've done that. Feel like the players that are online around 3-5pm London time e.g. like 9-11am PST are just awful. I was playing against some very very suspect plays even at the 9 win mark.

Haha. Why is it that Shaman became the only/dominant bot anyways? Just efficiency with limited AI?

I'd consider shaman pricey too for someone starting out, they have a lot of good commons, but like no good basics outside of fire elemental and hex. Control warrior is pricey, but aggro warrior is inexpensive, just zoo and hunter are generally better for aggro, but if you like/want to lvl warrior you can make a decent aggro deck.
I mentioned Shaman simply because the "core" cards from the popular meta deck now is basically 1 legendary (Al'Akir) and 1 epic (Doomhammer) the others are Rare's, Naxx cards, or replaceable. Nothing beats Zoo or Hunter for cheap competitive I don't think but that's better than trying to create something like a Druid deck imo (cost wise).

Yeah, I know what you meant and it is a relatively cheaper deck in that it could have 0-3 legendaries, but it requires many class specific cards that are commons or rares whereas other decks would require more neutral commons and rares that can be used in many decks until you flesh your collection out.

Put together a pretty dominant win streak so far with this. Basically pre-naxx mid-range warrior with death's bite and loatheb. Whirlwind has been an absolute all-star, I think it's a mistake to cut them. So many 1 health minions in the meta atm.

I looked at Hearthstone wikia for good mage deck but I can't figure out what is good to play with what I personally have.
Here's a basic only deck that Trump just made, intended for new players:

Arcane Missiles x2
Acidic Swamp Ooze x2
Bloodfen Raptor x2
Arcane Intellect x2
Frost Bolt x2
Shattered Sun Cleric x2
Fireball x2
Polymorph x2
Chillwind Yeti x2
Gnomish Inventor x2
Sen'jin Shieldmasta x2
Frostwolf Warlord x2
Gurubashi Berserker
Water Elemental x2
Boulderfist Ogre x2
Flamestrike
Stormwind Champion

Been dicking around with basic decks for a while now and that Mage one is pretty solid, but I've found replacing the Arcane Missiles with Elven Archers tends to work better so the RNG won't fuck you over near as much. Also, Bluegill Warriors instead of the Bloodfen Raptors can help stave off early game pressure which is where the Basic Mage deck really falls flat.

So that previous poster gave me a Yolowing Shaman build idea. This is what I ended up with on my second game.

And what that doesn't show was my board before I played the wing. Full board with a flametongue totem that would've given me lethal. God I love this game.

Bahahahah this game.... So my draft with 4 Flamestrikes I went 5-0 and then played 2 Paladins in a row with Sword of Justice dropped within the first 5 turns. I then proceed to go 15 turns into the game without drawing a single one of my 4 Flamestrikes and lose 2 games. Apparently 4 Flamestrikes isn't enough with HS RNG. I don't know why I'm still shocked at the RNG in this game after playing for so long, but wow, just wow. So infuriating to have 4 Flamestrikes and not draw a single one in your first 15 cards. Fuuuuuck I hate this game so much sometimes.

I think I'm on my 3rd "fuck this game" and uninstall. I know well enough to stay away from MMOs because I'm not disciplined enough to handle the time commitment they require(in order for me to find it fun). Maybe I need to add card games to the list of games I just shouldn't touch.

What time commitment does hearthstone need in order to be fun? The only thing that requires time commitment is getting legendary and no one thinks that it is actually fun. No seriously though, I'm sure some ppl might enjoy that, but there is still arena/adventure mode/casual that require zero time commitment.

I worded that poorly. MMOs have a time commitment because I'd need to be raiding to find them enjoyable. I can't commit that time anymore, so I don't play MMOs anymore, not even casually. Maybe I need to add card games to that list(of games I won't touch). Too much RNG.

I play casually enough to complete the quests everyday and get around rank 9-4 every season. But I am near to having all worthwhile legendaries. I am close to crafting another so its either Malygos or Grommash.... hrmmmm. Then the only one I could possibly want is Edwin.

Speaking of economical decks for beginners. As long as you have Naxx, you can put together the hunter cancer deck quite cheaply, as well as the slower form of zoo.

That should at least get you better at seeing what people will play on certain turns ,and what the current metas are.

I agree with newer players saying it's tough to get into the game at first, but after a couple of monthes you will at least see what every card can do. Understanding what cards can be played, and on what turns is pretty much all of Hearthstone. The skill cap really isn't that high.

In tournament play the bar is raised a little ,but not on the players side it's more on what decks are the best to play at what tournaments.
To me that's where the team think tanks come into play.

If you listen to most Post Mort ems of any larger tournaments they will always discuss the deck building versus the plays in the matches themselves.

I agree with this.

Make this deck, and then only go for the face.

Flare
Tracking x2
Leper Gnome x2
Undertaker x2
Webspinner x2
Explosive Trap
Freezing Trap x2
Haunted Creeper x2
Ironbeak Owl x2
Loot Hoarder x2
Mad Scientist x2
Eaglehorn Bow x2
Animal Companion
Kill Command x2
Unleash The Hounds
Arcane Golem
Wolfrider x2
Houndmaster

I'm not saying you have to like it, just try it. This is about the 'fastest' deck I've ever played. That is a nebulous term but is still a real one.

Mulligan for Undertaker, Leper Gnome, Mad Scientist, and Webspinner in that order. Loot Hoarder and Haunted Creeper take next priority. An Eaglehorn Bow isn't terrible either.

Just go for the face. It's an easy deck to learn, not so easy to master. Go for the face for at least 10 games. Then once you think you have a feel for it, you can try a few board control moves, but for the most part this deck should go for the face almost every time.

This deck should teach you what is possible from a 'cheap and fast' perspective. And it is quite competitive. This deck can teach you a fundamental lesson about Hearthstone. Once it is learned you are free to move on, butuntilit is learned, you still have much to learn! It is cheap and easy and fun and winning. Give it a try, even if it isn't your bag baby, yeah!
