I suck so hard at arena I'm not gonna bother wasting any more $$ on it until I know the game ALOT better. Jesus.
Like I said, you need to read a few guides first and watch a couple games from top arena streamers first. Then, when you do go to Arena, follow IcyVeins as best you can. Also, when you do badly you have to remind yourself that packs cost 100 gold, whereas you just paid 50 gold more to experience new cards and get a little better. Even when you go 0-3, you often get 20-30 gold back, so your net loss is only ~20 gold. 20 gold is worth the experience imo. However, if you're not having fun drafting neat cards, cards that are new to you etc. then it might be a little different. However, 90% of us started like you, sucking at the beginning (and even the best of the best have really shitty runs now and then). Once you push thru a few shitty runs and start doing better, you break even really quickly and then if/when you go infinite (7+ wins gives you your full gold back, guaranteed), it's extremely satisfying and your collection grows very quickly. It only takes ~3 wins to break even. If you do enough runs and are reading the guides/watching streamers, it's literally only a short time before you're profiting from arena. But yeah I guess it depends on if you're willing to push thru it and how much fun you have regardless of the wins.

Edit: Hot damn. Just got an insane draft. Don't think I've ever had this many high value top tier picks before. 21 of my 30 cards are top tier or near top tier. Fun times. Everything top tier that I picked was also next to other top tier shit. It'd be like SSC/Chillwind/Acidic Swamp Ooze or Argent Commander/Keeper of the Grove/Argus, over and over again. Crazy ass RNG.

My current arena run gave me new respect for voidcaller
Voidcaller has really fucked me up a couple times in arena. I've had my opponent attack into me and get a Doomguard twice, which obviously then has charge (and no discard), which is obviously insane. Other times it's spawned an Infernal and that's been tough. Voidcaller also acts almost like a secret and forces your opponent to make awkward decisions and/or bad trades, or miss out on a good trade. In the past I would try to avoid killing a Voidcaller on my turn and making it so they had no way of killing it on their turn, hoping to force them to play a demon and reduce the value, but I've learned to always kill it on my turn if possible. It gives them less of a chance to draw into a demon and mitigates the insane charge on a Doomguard, while also giving you a chance to deal with what gets summoned. A Voidcaller attacking into you on turn 4 or 5 and summoning a Doomguard is catastrophic.

Fun fact involving Voidcaller. You can actually have way, way more than 7 minions on the board using Voidcaller and some other tricks, and everything can attack as well. I've seen like 14 creatures on one side of the board stretching almost off screen, and they all still had the ability to be targeted and to attack.Cool Hearthstone Mechanics 3 - YouTubeskip to 1:20 to see it. It's possible in Arena, which is one of the few cool HS mechanics doable w/o Cho/Thoughtsteal nonsense. Those videos are great, one of my fav is being a Priest and thoughtstealing Ancestral healing with a Soulpriest on the table, Ancestral healing then becomes a 0 mana hard removal.

I don't play to become Legend. I play for those moments such as Voidcaller can produce. Like a 3/15 Jaraxxus with taunt. I absolutely love my Voidcaller deck. It'll never win a tournament, but I love it all the same.

Going turn 2, mulligan as a Druid... get combo+crap vs Hunter. Sigh. He plays Millhouse Manastorm turn 2. Needless to say, I won.

Sometimes Hearthstone just has moments that make you love it.

Arena with a mage, happy for a single fireball, no flamestrikes.

First game ? mage with 3 flamestrikes.

Rank 5 opponents: Hunter, Hunter, Hunter...

I beat all 3 of them with the face Hunter deck but the last one I should have lost. My opponent made a massive misplay where he attacked with his UT before dropping his Haunted Creeper. That left me with 1 HP after his Hero Power. He paused for a few seconds and then conceded.

I'm getting really fucking tired of hunter. It's such a grossly over powered class it's ridiculous. IMO, the hunter weapon needs the biggest nerf of all. What is that bullshit? Don't get me started on their secrets.

The only class I can reasonably deal with hunter with seems to be warrior or priest.

LOL, you guys call for hunter nerfs every season, and then they nerf them, and it still is never enough...

There isn't one class in Hearthstone that has taken as many nerfs as the Hunter has.

Don't worry boys, expac is around the corner, and you can all start crying about rogues again.

Let's predict the next hunter nerf!

Explosive trap. Probably remove face damage and make it minions only. Maybe also make it only trigger when attacking face or attacking minions rather than both.

Really I feel like warrior is just as overrepresented on the ladder but that's possibly also a result of it being the best hunter counter. I think its really always been a popular ladder class though and has generally been under the radar of rage.

I was bored last night. I made a shit ton of cards that interact with hero abilities (i.e. enhance them, change them, mess with your opponent's, give buffs to your minions when you use them, etc.). Was just bored, but now I wish they would add a bunch of cards that interacted with hero abilities like Shadowform and more.

Arent you the guy who said Reynads avenge would take you all the way to legend this month? Hows that working out for you buddy

Hunters are powerful because of Nax cards only, but they are fine. There is just as many zoo decks on the ladder as hunters right now.

Good players will always pick the decks with the edge and bad players will always complain about what kills them the most.
A statement that is true in every online competitive game ever made. Thank you for showing that statement still holds true

FYI my first legend was on a Warrior....

They are all pretty lazy, but it's a lot of fun to make cards when you feel disappointed by the new cards coming out, altho I did end up making some with the GvG theme. I made a set of class epics that change your hero ability and then a set of class minions that make it more beneficial to use your hero ability. Then I made a bunch that had to do with draw mechanics (i.e. anti Handlock, but also bonuses to drawing a lot of cards, and a few cards with mill mechanics to help mill become a real thing). Blizzard should have a competition for players making cards and then let the playerbase vote. I'd suck, but I bet some cool shit would come from it.

When Beta was out I wanted them to make minions that absorb incoming magic damage, but they still haven't implemented anything like that yet.

For instance a Lichborne or anti magic shell etc

Ways to affect the hero power are definitely needed IMO. That's the only way they could try to unfuck the balance nightmare they created with hero powers in the first place. Actually it would probably double-fuck lots of unintended shit, but at least that would be fun and shake up the meta.

Right now the only interactions involve priest, and then its only for your own power.
