I didn't say they could not replace shield block/armorsmiths either, but its certainly greedier. Its not a big deal losing a shield block for the card draw because you want to shield block + play a minion late game anyway, shield maiden does that in one card; the problem if you drop shield block is as adebisi said you can't shield block/slam for 4 mana. If you substituted 1 or 2 shield maidens for 6 drops I could see dropping 1 or 2 armorsmiths for sunfury protector or another 2 drop.

You typically save shield slams till later in the game anyway. How often are you burning that ability on turn 4? Shouldn't be too often!
Also, I did not think Armorsmith would be replaced, either, but I was watching the twitch channel where 4 pros were going over the new cards and at least 2 of them mentioned replacing armorsmith with her.

It really depends on the meta. You're going to win the mirror if the only difference between decks is you're running Shield Maidens in place of Blocks. But that is probably going to lose you to agro, more often that not. Both because of extra body and card draw being a minor liability in a match up that usually goes to fatigue if played correctly by both sides.

Shield Block is the best way to have 8 armor by turn 4 for Handlock. It is one of the best solutions to Innervate Yeti. Block+Armor up+Slam is 6 mana, whereas Maiden would be 9. Doomguard comes out at 5 mana, and has 7 health. This one of the most common solutions to Doomguard. Owl+Block+Slam is 7 mana and deals with a Highmane completely. Maiden would be 10 mana. Maiden+Maiden+Slam is impossible, whereas Block+Block can be done for 10(potentially +2) armor for if you're struggling to take the board back and they drop a big minion that needs to be Shield Slammed. Even in the control match-up, Sylvanas+Block+Slam your own Syl is a pretty common way of coming back from behind vs a Ysera/Rag/etc.

So it all depends on the lists you're running into. And what your early game looks like. If you're running Unstable Ghoul, Whirldwinds, maybe a Cleave, your early game might be so strong this is a non-issue and you can just run Maidens. But you do have to think about card draw. Most decks want to run 4-8 sources of card draw (Warlocks excepted, for obvious reasons). There are very few that don't, and usually it is the result of an unhappy compromise (Shaman run 3 usually, one Mana Tide and two Azure Drakes. They'd like to run more, a lot of people put a Gnomish Inventor in specifically to deal with the lack of class four-drops and to get up to 4 pieces of draw).

Personally I just want to actually get the cards and play around with them.

Bouncing Blade seems better for a raced out Giant for Handlock now though - single card instead of relying on a multicard combo. And if there's more than just the Giant on the field, Execute seems like it would love Bouncing Blade for comboing.

except in those situations where bouncing blade is just a deadly shot, it's really not that much better than whirlwind, and in many situations would be worse than whirlwind.

Ya I'm about to do the same, my filthy casual ass can't seem to break Rank 17. Maybe with Naxx cards and the right legendary or two I can run one of those Huntard decks that everyone bitches about.

I agree with this.

Make this deck, and then only go for the face.

Flare
Tracking x2
Leper Gnome x2
Undertaker x2
Webspinner x2
Explosive Trap
Freezing Trap x2
Haunted Creeper x2
Ironbeak Owl x2
Loot Hoarder x2
Mad Scientist x2
Eaglehorn Bow x2
Animal Companion
Kill Command x2
Unleash The Hounds
Arcane Golem
Wolfrider x2
Houndmaster

I'm not saying you have to like it, just try it. This is about the 'fastest' deck I've ever played. That is a nebulous term but is still a real one.

Mulligan for Undertaker, Leper Gnome, Mad Scientist, and Webspinner in that order. Loot Hoarder and Haunted Creeper take next priority. An Eaglehorn Bow isn't terrible either.

Just go for the face. It's an easy deck to learn, not so easy to master. Go for the face for at least 10 games. Then once you think you have a feel for it, you can try a few board control moves, but for the most part this deck should go for the face almost every time.

This deck should teach you what is possible from a 'cheap and fast' perspective. And it is quite competitive. This deck can teach you a fundamental lesson about Hearthstone. Once it is learned you are free to move on, butuntilit is learned, you still have much to learn! It is cheap and easy and fun and winning. Give it a try, even if it isn't your bag baby, yeah! I knew there was a cheap huntard deck in this thread, anyone recommend any changes to it?

Drop the Trackings, put in a Hunter's Mark and a second Animal companion, go two explosive and one freezing trap IMO.

Could change houndmaster or one of the charge minions for a second unleash. Can also drop the chargers and work in Highmane, Loatheb, Sludge Belchers if you want to go more midrange and away from super pure aggro, depends kinda on what you are running into I guess.

-1 Houndmaster, -1 Flare, -2 Tracking, +1 Animal Companion, +1 Explosive Trap, +1 Arcane Golem, +1 Unleash The Hounds. This is the deck I took to legend last season and it's very good.

The Flare isn't necessary; you are already favored in the matchup against slower hunters, and the Houndmaster is a bit contrary to what the deck is trying to do (be fast, lots of face damage) and a lot of time won't have a target.

I myself have since dropped the Trackings and made them Abusive Sergeants. I also dropped the freezing traps and made them 1 Explosive and 1 Snake. Houndmaster went back to being the second Arcane Golem that it started out as.

Hopefully GvG cards end up being more important. I'm still missing so many necessary cards for so many decks.
