Weren't you just saying like a week or two ago that it's the most healthy it's been in a very long time?
I CHANGED MY MIND! DONT USE MY WORDS AGAINST ME!

And it really was an ignorant thing to say, I had only just started laddering again. Now that I've actually spent a fair amount of time grinding, I can see how Patron and Emperor are capable of sucking any enjoyment (or skill) right out of the game.

The current health of the game is directly related to the amount of mindless aggro decks that are being played imo. Say what you want about patron but at least you have to make actual choices.

Just got stomped in Arena by a guy who played Rag, then followed up with Faceless Manipulator. Fuck me.

Edit: Not to mention the Flamestrike, Fireball, 2 Frostbolts, Flamecannon, Water Elemental, Harvest Golem, etc. Ridiculous deck.

So, I'm playing and I'm doing fine. I play my unstable portal and suddenly Deathwing. I was so happy and knew I had pretty much won... Then my internet goes out.

The only meta deck you could argue doesn't "have to make actual choices" is facehunter. Anything else absolutely does. What else is even popular and aggro right now? Zoo and tempowalker aren't really face aggro decks, they have to trade and make choices. So does mech mage/shaman. So do aggro pallies to a degree though they do go face pretty hard many times, and they aren't that represented really either.

I've had tons of shit like this happen to me. A week ago I was crushing some guy with an annoying deck (probably face hunter) and had just play Antonidas + Stealth spare part (was 5 win mage quest so said fuck it and mech mage) when I dc'd. Was sad.

I find you have to make plenty of decisions with Patron. There also was a discussion not long ago about how many bad Patron decks were floating around. I do mainly agree with Gavinmad about the power of Patron and Emp. I don't think it's overpowered though. Close, but just very powerful. I will say my next legend is Grommash just to make my Patron deck a bit stronger.

Any of you stream Patron? I suck at it and would love to watch someone who is successful with it. Dropped from rank 14 to rank 16 today playing it. For context, I finished last season at rank 4. I don't think it's quite as easy to pick up as you all make it out to be.

No one said it was easy to master, just that its dominating the meta, or at least is very overrepresented. I'm sure there's videos out there to learn it on youtube and popular streams.

It probably matters a lot what rank you're playing at. I'm still pretty low on the ladder this season (only rank 11). I didn't play a single patron warrior out of 28 matches yesterday. Just one control warrior.

edit: what I saw yesterday:

Class Stats
Class # Played % of Total
Warlock 4 14.29%
Druid 2 7.14%
Rogue 0 0.00%
Warrior 1 3.57%
Shaman 1 3.57%
Mage 7 25.00%
Paladin 2 7.14%
Hunter 9 32.14%
Priest 2 7.14%

Although I saw a lot of hunter/mage, there was a lot of variety in the mage/hunter lists I saw.

I'm playing it now for the past few days and slowly getting there. I read a couple guides and just got some experience. It goes with freeze mage and handlock in that you just have to have a plan for the next couple rounds. And you have to know your opponent's decks pretty well. Its swingy but everything works well and unlike freeze mage its unlikely you'll be in a "I have nothing to play" situation. Obviously the basics are its not a grim patron deck or even a berserker deck its a warsong commander deck and you need to get huge value out of them. Games are over relatively quick so you can't rely on getting both.

People playing Patron are usually free wins, because the deck is hard. I've been avoiding playing Warrior since I got it golden which is a shame because historically it is my highest win class and I've been struggling to break into single-digits this season... and I play Patron Warrior well (85% win rate with it on ladder), so it is tempting.

Im the opposite. I'm a newer player and still don't have some of the legends that are almost necessary for that deck. I never really played it until patron. I find my 70% win rate to be good enough to stick by it for the most part. I can't do too many games of it in a day though.Need that variety.

Yeah, Zalae plays it a lot and well (though for some reason he was playing face hunter at least some of the time today). Also I don't think his videos are muted on the past broadcasts, so you can just watch some of those whenever you want to. He's quite good at talking through his reasoning.

Another guy to watch is Senfglas, but it also comes down to just practice with the different matchups and getting to know your win conditions in each.

85/70% in what sized sample? That's awesome. I'm happy to be 60% or higher with whatever I'm running. I guess I'm a baddie.

My sample for Patron Warrior is 114 games (finished my golden Warrior with it). Granted some of that was early on when no one knew how to play around it. My historic win rate for control Warrior, across the last like four seasons, is right around 73%. But I like to switch classes too much, even if I'm winning I can't sit there and grind away with the same class for more than four ranks before I need to switch.

Really anything above 55% win rate is good in this game. It'll get you to legend eventually, if you grind long enough.

Yeah, I really like Control (or Chinese) Warrior right now and Patron makes a fun option now and again. Still, sometimes you just need to clear your brain and run Zoo/Face or similar. I used to run nothing but Handlock though so I'm pretty sure my brain is just likes long games with that sort of swing to them. I loved Miracle and Oil but neither (well, Oil) really seems to be fun right now.

I actually love several Zoo variants but they are soul-crushing when you make a bad call or the matchup is painful. Facehunter is fun *sometimes* simply because the deck composition and the mulligan really are all you need worry about. From there it is a win or loss and really pretty much out of your control.

Brace Yourself for Tavern Brawl - Hearthstone

New Mode revealed. Probably a shitty copy paste below. TLDR out in 1-2 weeks. Changes weekly with different rules.

There's a rumbling behind the doors of the Tavern. Hearthstone's latest patch is coming soon and it introduces some big changes and features, so let's throw open the doors and find out what's next on tap!

Introducing Tavern Brawl!
Tavern Brawl is a new way to play Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft!

2p7_HS_4thButton_Lightbox_CK_339x69.png

Each week, a different Tavern Brawl will pit you head to head versus another player using exciting and unique rules. One week might feature preset decks, while another week could have you crafting a brand new Tavern Brawl deck following specific guidelines, while others might offer buffs to specific minion types-who knows!

Tavern Brawl can be found below the Play, Solo Adventures, and the Arena buttons on the main Hearthstone screen. You may have to toughen up before entering the fray-Tavern Brawl is unlocked once a player has a level 20 Hero.

The possibilities for fun inside Tavern Brawl are endless- the only thing you should expect is the unexpected!

Brawl with Buddies

2p7_HS_TavernFriend01_Lightbox_CK_200x232.png
While it's fun to get into Tavern Brawls with strangers, it's also a blast to brawl with your buddies! To start a Tavern Brawl with a friend, enter the Tavern Brawl menu, open your Friends List, and push the 'Challenge' button next to your friend's name. After they accept, press the Brawl Friend button and let the battle begin!

GET IN HERE
The first playable Tavern Brawl arrives in Mid-June, so get ready to pile on and knock some heads together. Brawls get plenty rowdy, so the Innkeeper will definitely need a couple of days after each one ends to get the inn all tidied up before the next brawl begins. That means Tavern Brawls are temporarily closed while the Innkeeper cleans up before a new, different brawl starts-so be sure to get a match or two in while you can! Stay up to date on when the next Tavern Brawl begins by keeping an eye on the official Hearthstone Twitter and Facebook.

2p7_HS_TavernFriend03_Lightbox_CK_150x149.pngTaver n Brawls will have free admission when the new mode becomes available. As part of the launch celebration, you'll earn a free card pack when you win your first game of the week in the first several brawls!

New Challengers Appear
New Heroes put a fresh face on the classes you know and love. Each new Hero takes an iconic personage from Warcraft history and brings them to the inn. These Heroes feature animated portraits, a unique animated version of their Hero Power, personalized game board artwork, all new emotes, special match start animations, and a custom-themed card back.

These Heroes will be available for purchase using real money in the Heroes section of the in-game shop.

Magni Bronzebeard, King of Khaz Modan and Thane of Ironforge, is the new Warrior Hero. This noble dwarf will bring the hammer down upon his foes! He's not the only new face coming to the tavern, and there are more heroes yet to come:

HeroTeaser02_HS_FB_CK_960x960.png HeroTeaser03_HS_FB_CK_960x960.png

Keep in mind that new Heroes do not add new cards to your collection, change the classes' Hero Power, and are not considered new classes.

Customize Your Decks
Customize each of your decks like never before by assigning each one its own card back! Your card back collection has been moved to the Collection Manager. Selecting a card back will give you a closer look at it and allow you to set it as your favorite, making it your default card back for all decks.

If you want to assign a different card back to one of your decks, just open the deck you want to assign the card back to, select the card back tab in your Collection Manager, then drag your card back into the waiting card back slot.

2p7_HS_CardManager_Lightbox_CK_500x250.jpg

Your new Heroes work the exact same way! Just go to the Heroes tab to see all the Heroes you've collected. Select a Hero and set them as a favorite, which will assign them to every deck you play with that class. You can also pick and choose Heroes for specific decks, so if a new Hero has joined your collection, you don't have to leave an old favorite out in the cold.

Each deck in your collection can be assigned a unique card back and Hero.

Let the Games Begin!
We hope you enjoy all the new features coming with Patch 2.7. Be sure to get into a Tavern Brawl, add a new Hero to your roster, and have fun picking a different card back for each of your decks.

While its great there is a new game mode I don't think anyone was anticipating this.
