Exactly, while I'm sure this will be a fun new mode, I so would have preferred additional deck slots, tournament mode, achievements in that order before tavern brawl.I'm sure it will be fun but I so wanted tournaments
That's the big question, do the games count towards quests, golden heroes? If not better have some good rewards otherwise it's just win one for a free pack then not play them. However, no mention of rewards? I'm assuming at least you can count wins towards dailies. Will there be separate rewards?
Yeah, I think a lot of players (myself included, though not for playing but more for watching) would have preferred a tournament mode, but it's quite likely that this will be a much bigger thing for the vast majority of players who might not even have one fully optimized deck, let alone multiple. It's also a possibility that they still haven't quite worked out the full design for it yet, Conquest format didn't really solve all the problems of how to do the individual matches.I'm sure it will be fun but I so wanted tournaments
Well that's really not much different that saying arena is no fun because you never know what the other guy might have. Its still fun, its a different mode of play. Always thinking, ok turn nine coming, don't let the druid catch you at under 15 health!!! isn't a pinnacle of gameplay either. Part of the deal is that you WON'T know what to expect or have practice with it. Who cares, if you can keep playing until it closes then it isn't like arena where you are three and out and lost gold or something. All kinds of unexpected wacky shit is going to happen in these brawls, you bitchy cunts will all be back here posting your ZOMG WTF screenshots, I'm sure of it. Plus its a way for unplayable cards to get worked into the rotation. I think it can really liven up a stale game and give a new option for logging in to do something other than grind stars or spend money on an arena entry. This Brawl mode seems like it could be fun. It all hinges on source of cards(your collection or random like arena) cost of entry, and rewards.
Conceptually, though, I worry about it. It depends how much the rule changes affect the gameplay. A huge part of this game is learning what your opponent might d0 and adapting to it. Or what your deck might draw you and adapting to it. And it's been fun, my last week or so of pure arena has me doing much better than usual now that I can actually play just arena. What fun is a certain brawl mode if you can't spend the time to adapt to its finer nuances? Losing games to mistakes you make(i.e. forgetting the rule change of the brawl) is no fun at all.
