First Brawl I got Ragnaros. I conceded on Turn 3. Second Brawl I got Nef. Won that one on turn 6 or 7. I got a 0 cost Mind Control and used it on his 20/20 Golemagg. The Rag guy conceded right after that.

I got a Golden Bane of Doom from my pack

Third Brawl I got Rag. Had a perfect curve and the Nef player thought it would be a good idea to load up his board with minions. Included in those minions were one that reduced cost of spells and another that added like 2 spell damage. Went from an "oh crap" moment to an easy wipe when he played those two since I was holding a Flamestrike.

But there's no way Rag is normally favored. Nef just shits all over Rag.

Problem with Rag is Nef has the better Hero power, and all Nef's cards allow him to stack the board constantly for when Rag can randomly hit with his 8 points of damage.

There is just way too many good spells versus bad, and for 0 mana it's a no brainer to try to turn a 2 mana to something big every turn.

If I retuned Nef, I wouldn't allow him to start instantly with 4 mana. Even 3 would make a world of difference in that fight.

I feel like Nef should never lose but somehow I won with Rag 5x. Most likely bad players or very very unlucky. There weren't too many head-scratching moments vs the Nefs I played. Nef is definitely very weak late game. His hero power doesn't compare to an 8 damage hero power. Spells are useless without board presence in most cases. Nef players need to win early and Rag players need to be smart with the board wipes. Rag actually has quite a few board clears, but they take time to develop, or are a lot of mana. Lucifron takes a turn, the brawl guy is 2 turns or a 9 mana play, flamestrike is expensive, etc. I had 1 game where I was able to load the board with core hound pups and the Nef couldn't clear them all. I had a full 7 minion board for the rest of the game.

Brawls are free, fun, and the pack is appreciated. I think they will come up with some really fun and creative decks to play around with.

The problem with Brawl mode, is the same with Adventure, and is the same with Casual/Ladder... there is no replay-ability mechanics built into it. They spend all this time and resources on 1-and-done game content, because they refuse to look at reasons to give you to play their game. I enjoyed the Brawl, but it was a 5 minute diversion that I guess we get to enjoy once a week.

While everyone is bitching and moaning about Rag vs Nef balance, you should be mourning the fact that they once again missed an opportunity bring out a much more sustained and rewarding type of Hearthstone experience.

I'm mourning no tournament mode. It just has to be coming, right? RIGHT?
I don't think they're going to release a tournament mode. It sort of goes against the whole "keep it easy, keep it simple" design philosophy they have. I imagine it's mainly a mobile tablet game to most people who play. (I think anyways, I wonder if anyone has numbers on what people use to play the most, computer/tablet/phones) A tournament mode would go completely opposite that. That's why in Arena you could stop and start whenever you wanted, they wanted a pick up and play for 5 minutes game. I don't see how they could actually do a tournament mode while sticking to that.

I agree with this. They made it pretty clear they are not trying to gain the competitive Magic player with this game, at least it will never be the focus.

Most Nef losses result in blowing your load early without doing significant damage to Rag. Once you lose board control as Nef, its pretty difficult to get back.

Brawl is a fun gimmick for about an hour and then it's simply boring after that. Especially with how unbalanced it is. Do it for the free pack and get it out. If you get Nef there's a good chance that your Rag opponent auto-concedes anyway.

Rag is definitely not favored even though I've won 3 out of 4 with him(no Nef games for me). It's tough to start with a mana disadvantage against a deck based off RnG. Luckily, I've been able to slow the game down either based off RnG or their poor play. I hate that all the work you put into Rag can be instantly negated by a randomly powerful hero activation. Feels right at home with the rest of the game.

It does have shitty replay though. Not sure I can stomach much more than a few more games just to try Nef out some.

They sure chose one of the worst possible ways to open up Brawl mode. One of the deck-building ruleset variations would have been way better of a first impression. Now I played 4 games of this and that was probably 3 too many and we have 6-7 days until the next one pops up. Good job team!

Just wanted to chime in and say they got me back, for now. Damn Android app.

Just beat all the Heroics of the first 3 guys in Blackrock. Gonna quest my way up to another 700 gold to buy the next wing.

I still love my old Shaman and Druid decks.
