How big is the Hearthstone team these days anyway? I know they used to be a ragtag group of 5 programmers, 4 artists, and 2 managers or something like that. Anybody have any clue how many people are actually working on this shit?

Seems like it was ~42 back in november.Team 5 - Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft Wiki
With the mobile release out of the way I wouldn't be surprised if the team is a little smaller today.

It would be fun if it was balanced. I think brawl with deck building rules will be more fun though.

I don't know why I played Brawl but I did and I got Nef and actually had a decent game. I still won but it went till we had ~10 cards each left or so. That's the longest Brawl I've had so far as Nef. I had to be careful not to empty my hand. It really seems impossible to lose as Nef as long as you play it smart. The Nef losses seem to be people unloading and then Rag gets tons of value from his clears.

Went to shop to buy a pack, but it just displays this strange "Opening Necropolis" message. Not sure what's going on. Also, when I first logged in, it said something about me earning a mount for Heroes of the Storm. Logged into Heroes and didn't notice any new mount. Something odd is going on.

Turn 1 Coin+Razorgore for Nefarion is pretty much game over... and it seems to occur against me rather frequently.

Was trying out "casual" mode for the first time today. I've never tried it, only do ranked or arena. Not played much, currently rank 13, but wanted to get some daily quest in for druid that I have few cards for. I have bought at total of 15 packs (when it first launched) and only get decks from arena runs (never spent 100g on a deck, more fun to spend 150 on arena).

The decks you meet in casual are anything but casual. Majority of heroes are golden, and the decks are all net decks. Why would people need to play casual with golden heroes featuring the top of the line net decks?

Only reason I can see to playing casual is when you have to play decks you know are not up to par with the rank you are at due to dailies.

Or is there another reason? Certainly no point in telling new players to try "casual" at first. Much easier decks in the 10+ first ranks than in casual.

I think when people are learning the intricacies of a new deck they haven't played use it for practice

Edit I use it when it's for a class that gets ass raped in the current meta

There's a lot of meta decks in casual but I also run into oddball or experimental decks more often than on the ladder. But yeah, I think the primary use is for doing dailies without losing stars.

Yeah, I'm trying out Demon-lock in casual today. No reason to use it in ranked since I still have a few cards to get and maybe a couple other spots to change. If you aren't in the bottom 12-15 ranks, there is no reason to get stomped just to practice a half made idea. Fortunately, I haven't had any druid or rogue dailies lately since those are my worst decks.

I've really briefly dabbled in Hearthstone since it came out, but never really gave a hoot about ranked since I didn't have any cards. I recently got inspired and dumped a bit too much money in some packs (just two of the 60 pack groups) and went to consult the current meta decks, thinking I'd surely be able to craft most. Couldn't do the biggies from Warlock and Paladin, my two fave classes, and even Mage was out of reach. I think I got 7 legendaries out of all those packs and the only one I think is good is Grommash.

So, long story long, I went withthis Hunter "Hybrid" deck, but, again to my great chagrin, I didn't even have all those cards! Sure I could have dusted, but I was only off a few cards so I just subbed a few, and then tweaked it to my liking after some games.

It may look wonky, and it very well could be, but my philosophy is "RNG gonna RNG." That's why I got only one of UTH, and Houndmaster, and Snake/Frost trap. These games never go to fatigue, so no card is "reliable" in any sense, and so I'm just YOLOing it and it's been really successful, I think. I started the ladder with 0 games on this ladder and 0 wins as a Hunter, and got as high as rank 11, where I vacillated between 12 and 11 before calling it a night. I recorded the W/L class matchups and this is what it looked like:

Mage: 15 / 3
Priest: 7 / 3
Hunter: 3 / 4
Warrior: 4 / 1
Warlock: 2 / 3
Shaman: 3 / 0
Druid: 1 / 1
Paladin: 1 / 0
Rogue: 0 / 0

Total: 36 / 15 (70.6% win rate)

I know there were at least 3 games where I had a big fuckup that (as far as one can tell in this game) cost me the victory. Like, I'm not talking about missing lethal on the last turn, but an early choice between attacking two minions and choosing the wrong one due to lack of exprience/foresight. Getting greedy, essentially. And at least twice I fucked up on mages' secrets, thinking I had summoned a minion (Animal Companion does not count as "summoning a minion" I now know).

If anyone is just now getting into the game, I'd recommend this deck. There's no long drawn out games, and it's just fun. With the mix of the single cards I had mentioned, you get the chance to see a lot of fun and different combos fire off. My hunter matchups are rough, but one of those I won with Kezan by stealing his explosive trap. I don't know how common Snake Trap is, but so far it's made for some awesome combos with the summoning effect from Knife Juggler and/or the boost effect from Scavenging Hyena. Heck, the snakes are even "Beasts" so they give bonus to Kill Shot, and can be upgraded by the Houndmaster. I think the biggest downside is that the enemy can 100% know Snake Trap is active because it's the only one to trigger from attacking a minion. But, that only happened once today (and I was so greedy that I plowed ahead hoping he'd attack a minion, but he didn't, and he won) whereas 2 or 3 times I saw opponents make bad moves because they thought it was Explosive Trap, IE not attacking my face to trigger it.

This got really long! I do wanna know something though: Do things change going up in rank? If/when I hit 10, 5, 1, just the opponents will misplay less and less?

With two glaivezookas, 1 eaglehorn isn't a bad idea.

@jabber Around rank 10 people pretty much have complete decks the people higher than that are the people that can play them correctly/make less mistakes and the people at the very top are the people who don't make mistakes and make wise meta decisions in tech cards.

Playing a fairly solid Demonlock that is on a winning streak right now. Want about 3-4 more cards to test with but has been pretty balanced so far. Is probably really weak to freeze mage and the random aggro fast start but pleased so far. I think it's a more interesting variant of Handlock if not quite as powerful. Since I don't have the giants and do have the class demons, it will fit the bill. Always wanted to try it.

I just got Mal'Ganis and Boom in the same pack. I didn't have either before. Best 4-3 arena deck ever.
