Man I just had a combo played on me I didn't even see coming. I was playing my control paly smashing a handlock. I was at 20 health, he was at 8 health, his giants were dead, things were looking good. All the sudden here comes leeroy.....ok...... then power overwhelming........ok........then faceless.............MOTHERFUCKER@!@!@!@!@!@!@!@

This is my opinion. I lost to the same thing the other day.

Is it harder to rank up on weekends? Ranks 10/9/8 or so. Not sure if I should bother or is it an exercise in frustration? I know arena seems worse on weekends, but I've never really put much time into rank before.

IMO this is a good thing as it keeps control decks from auto winning. Anything that makes control decks lose is golden in my book, I hate control decks though.

Athene's control paladin deck has a combo like that. Other player is at 18 health. He Leeroys, Blessing of might, Faceless and game over. That's 18 points of damage for 10 mana.

You understand that handlock is a control deck right?

Well control decks also use combos to kill other control decks, nothing really out of the ordinary, but you could argue combos are too strong compared to life total I guess.

Could nerf Leeroy, you're still going to run into combos that do 15 to 20 dmg though even with a leeroy nerf, double savage roar force of nature with innervate is 22 assuming no other board, shaman alakir+rockbiters or leeroy(even nerfed)+windfury+rockbiter is like 20+ easily and any board with 4cards and bloodlust+windfury is 15 even if the mobs have 0dmg, Velen+Mind Blast is only 10 but rough if you don't instantly remove it, Warrior can still do weird combos like Warsong(or Charge)+Worgen+Cruel Taskmaster+Rampage for 18, Mage can Fireball+frostbolt+icelance x2 for 17, Hunter combo is reliant on how many mobs you have but buffing wolf+unleash the hounds with 2tokens+2x kill command is 14, Warlock is potentially stupid damage assuming you have one charger and 2 overwhelming + 1 soulfire regardless of the charger(it's 14dmg with the 3 spells to begin with so charger can be a 3/1 orc and that's still gonna do 16), Rogue I'm too lazy to do the math but you know how it works.

Obviously Leeroy doesn't help in those combos balance since it's generally the most efficient card you can play especially if you have a 1mana buff and a faceless or a way to attack multiple times with leeroy(windfury for 2, shadowstep for 2). Nerfing Leeroy to 5 might help a bit with some cases, you're still gonna get comboed though.

Oh God Athene is just miserable to watch. So many fucking misplays, and the stupid ass shit he does when he wins too. I have no fucking idea how people can stand watching him.

Yes, but I suppose my idea of a control deck is the ones who stall forever and forever and forever and just try and beat you down through huge taunts and excessive healing etc. I know its a slight difference but I do understand it is a control deck I just hate the combo version of a control deck much less I suppose. I have debated conceding to priests/paladins any time they show up since I just hate their decks and they always go long. You are talking to someone who loves aggro decks though since I like quick games win or lose.

edit: going to throw it out there as well, I don't consider myself to be amazing at the game either so just my 2 cents.

It's not that it's easier or harder, but different times of day and different days the meta you run into is different. I had an 8 game win streak the other day with my Shaman and then 12 hours later dropped 4 straight simply because the types of decks I ran into are different. Changed deck and was fine.

God, playing my US account with pretty much no cards, leveling classes in ranked to unlock basics. Shit's fucking infuriating, 75% of the matches are dickheads with rush decks but good cards farming newbies for ranks. Can tell from their gold class cards and all the rare shit they have unlocked, so fucking boring. Then again I guess the other 25% is a bunch of complete newbies with absolute garbage decks, got a guy who had like all the low level taunts(goldshire, frostwolf grunt, the tauren guy, iron bear, even a fucking wisp) and then a bunch of control cards, his deck made 0 sense.

Anyway annoying as shit to level via ranked, guess I should stick to casual but not sure it's gonna be any better.

No really being able to effect your opponent's board state on their turn make pretty much all of those possible.

A lot of people on US at like rank 20 will win a game, lose a game, win a game, lose a game, etc., to get to 500 wins faster. If you don't rank up you keep playing scrubs.

Yeah that's what I meant, which makes it stupid to level classes in when you don't even have shit like swipe or evisc. Casual so far isn't any better, 2 fucking retards playing Zoolock in casual for whatever fucked up reason and one guy playing miracle which I guess is fine if you need to learn how to play the deck(which you don't fucking need for zoo but eh).

Of all the decks to play against. Fucking miracle rogue is still the most gay. Seriously, fuck that stupid shit. There's something inherently unfun about playing against a deck that specifically keeps as few minions as possible on their side of the board, all the while still removing yours and damaging you with combo advantages.

Cards like Mind Control Tech make me hate this game more than I should.

In Arena we are both topdecking with him at 16 life and me at 18. I have board control and just finished my turn with a windfuried ogre, flametongue, spellpower, and taunt totem. He drops a MCT and takes the fucking ogre i was going to use to win on the next turn. All cards with random effects are fucking bullshit and have no place in these games.

If he had taken the taunt totem and lost you would not have made this post. It was a shot in the dark for him to have this outcome, not like random cards are constantly deciding games. Shit happens once in a while, its nice for that guy in that situation to still have some prayer of turning it around.
