Started playing a few days ago, really having a blast. I've found that I like to play the druid quite a bit and want to build a decent deck from blues and commons. I picked up a pack yesterday with a Baron Geddon and a Pit Lord. Took the dust from the Pit Lord and am wondering if I should do the same with Geddon? I'm not seeing much usefulness from it with a druid and those dusts could be better spent building a low budget deck.

I've already got 1 Nourish, 2 Wraths, 1 Keeper, 2 Bites, 1 Soul of the Forest, what should I be prioritizing with my dusts? It looks like the wraths and the Keeper of the grove are keepers and i like having that Nourish around turn 7 or 8 for three more cards, especially if I've used some innervates and wild growths.

Druid is typically one of the most expensive classes to play. Most of their class rares/epics are a necessity. For example, most Druid decks run x2 Ancient of Lore which are both epic. You should craft those asap. You'll also want x1 Starfall, possibly 2, but 1 is good enough for now, definitely another Keeper of the Grove asap (again a card that most Druids run x2 of regardless of deck).

99% of druid decks should have

2x Swipe (common card so you should have it already)
2x Druid of the Claw
2x Ancient of Lore
2x Keeper of the Grove

After those 8 cards you can work on the combo:

1x Force of Nature + 1x Savage Roar = 14 damage in 1 turn
(some decks have 2x each so they can use combo 2x or you can go FoN+2x Savage Roar if you have an innervate turn 10)

That's 1/3rd of a deck, the other 20 cards depend if you want to be a Ramp druid, which means you need innervates+wild growths and a bunch of late game cards
or you focus on a rush deck with power of the wild + violet teacher + bunch of lower cost cards.

I can turn my Baron Geddon into either a Ancient of Lore or 1 Keeper, 2 Druid of the Claws, 1 Starfall, and 1 Violet Teacher (already have one). I'm thinking I should get all the cheaper ones first and then start saving up for the two Ancients. Sound about right?

that mage draft, wtf!

very top heavy though , no early removals and very little card draws. Hope you get to play all those goodies!
It was a few days ago. My early game was too shit. I did manage 8 or 9 wins though. But that draft mainly illustrated how strange arenavalue.com is. If it just tries to give you a good curve, then it obviously failed to do so, as you can see by my picks. It also wasn't just a case of "even though we try to give you a good curve, if a really good bomb pops up and it goes against a good curve, we'll still rate it higher) because there were a ton of options that woulda given me a smoother curve without sacrificing much card quality. If it takes past picks into consideration (i.e. rating spells slightly higher if you have spell damage) then it is also retarded, because it tried to prioritize a 5th Paladin weapon over a top tier creature in another draft. So it just doesn't make sense really. Wish I could get a look at the algorithm or methodology behind it, because it just seems almost random, like some mediocre dude's opinion or something, with a super simple basic algorithm that rates individual cards slightly lower if you have more than 1, but that's about it...

It depends. Early in your collection, yes, it's better to get 4 good cards for your deck than 1 great one (i.e. 4 rares vs. 1 epic). But there are some cards that are so important that that isn't always true. Keeper and Druids of the Claw and 1 Starfall should be first, and then get an Ancient of Lore asap, then go back to the rares. 4 rares like Violet Keeper are inferior to 1 Ancient of Lore, but 2 Keeper of the Groves and 2 Druid of the Claws and a Starfall > Ancient of Lore.

Don't DE Geddon. He's the best Warrior card!

Don't think there's a point in getting Violet Teachers until you have the druid combo cards, which include at least 1 force of nature, probably 2, and savage roars(1-2, kinda depends too). Keepers and Claw are really good though, but so is Ancient of Lore(at least 1). That's the main issue with druid, you need a ton of rare and epics in every deck because they're actually the best druid cards. I'd go for Keepers/Claw first, maybe, but 1 ancient of lore is almost necessary to not die late game against most other control decks, since without them you're not drawing shit.

If you have Regrowth(or Rewhatever, I always forget what's the actual name) you could use that instead while you wait, the draw 3 for 5 spell. You can also rarely use it as ramp, like Innervate > Regrowth, also to note it gives 2 FULL mana crystals, so you can still play a 2 cost thing on the same turn as you play it as ramp, so it's not so bad, even though drawing is almost always better. If your hand is super heavy and there's no pressure though, ramping up by 2 crystals can be fucking ridiculous.

The 3 for 5 is Nourish, and i do have one of those. I haven't pulled the trigger on DE'ing Geddon yet, it's the only legendary i have. If it's good in warrior decks maybe I should hold on to it and just keep grinding. Obviously I'm only hovering around rank 18/19 right now, but win a good chunk of games that aren't against totally stacked decks full of epics and legendaries.

Geddon isn't really used in any decks atm, but there was a time when he was quite useful and popular. He's one of the lower tier legendaries, but he's not bad enough to disenchant unless you've got a dozen + legendaries. I would keep it for now, you'll get dust in time. My best advice to new players it to put $10-20 into your account and use it to draft. It'll actually go a long way and if you do it right (i.e. read some guides, watch a couple good streamers, and use arena guides), by the time you're money is out, you'll almost be near infinite arena; more so if you have previous CCG experience. And Arena is the absolute best way to build your collection. Even if you go 0-3 you still get a pack and usually 20 gold, so your net loss is only ~30 gold, but that is made up in experience gained that will make you a better player. It's very satisfying to watch your arena average go up and up.

Yeah, Nourish should be used for the card draw 90% of the time. The only time I use it for ramp is when I can cast it on turn 2 or 3, because then you maximize the benefit. Also, learning when to use your card draw spells (particularly the higher mana cost ones) is a very good thing to know, and is way more complicated than it seems. I.e. you shouldn't use Nourish to draw on turn 6 if your opponent has board control and you have creatures in your hand, because then it'll just put you behind. But if the board is totally clear and/or you've got a creature on the board and your opponent has 1 or 2 more cards in hand than you, then it can be really good. Other times, it'll feel like the perfect time to use it because you have board control and it's safe to do so, but you're already up 2-3 cards in your hand, and don't actually need to be up more than that, and it's better to play a creature. Or you know your opponent is holding a board wipe like Flamestrike, you cast Nourish rather than giving them another creature or two to wipe.

Ya i used my one free trip to the arena to go 0-3 on a rogue, lol. But it does seem to be the way to go to build up a collection.

I have Geddon in my warrior control right now, it's really good atm. So much aggro out there it's been excellent.

I don't think Geddon will be worthwhile for you for a long time though, but it's always hard to disenchant a Legendary. I never did unless I got a dupe.

Use thisArena Guide - Icy Veins

Very easy guide to follow and generally pretty accurate. Also, on average, the best arena mana curve will basically look like a hand giving you a middle finger (i.e. your curve spikes at 4 drops).

Keep Geddon. You don't want to dust Legendary cards unless they're really bad. And Geddon isn't bad. In the right deck he's VERY good.

If you are new you shouldn't be playing Druid anyway.

Go get a crusher shaman, zoo, or cancer deck.
What's the logic behind this? Not everyone is interested in min/maxing. If he enjoys Druid and wants to play it, despite the high cost of Druid decks, then why shouldn't he? Why the hell would being new and playing zoo or cancer go together? How exactly does cancer or zoo efficiently make you a better player, or at least any more so than playing something you enjoy? And crusher Shaman? What? basically what I think you're trying to say is: "Play these decks if you're new, because they are cheap to make and they are the best decks for winning ranked if you don't have a decent collection." But that's a silly argument for a lot of reasons. He didn't come here and ask "What's the best cheap deck I can make to go win?" Sure, if eventually he gets to a point where he wants to farm gold in ranked or try and rank up, your advice is sound, but he won't be getting legend any time soon and arena is still better for learning and earning gold if you do it right, so why the hell would he play a shitty, mostly boring, mostly braindead deck?

Also TheBeagle, I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but if you do play arena and see Druid, always pick it. Since it's the class you want to play and learn, that'll give you a ton of experience. Fortunately for you, Druid is one of the best classes in arena. Most people will always pick Mage if it's available, but when it's not, the next best thing is either Druid, Paladin or Rogue.

Because obviously new players need to learn all the metas, need to learn exactly what every card does. That is what makes you a good player. Knowing exactly what your opponent is coming with at all times.

Playing a deck that is barely good in the current meta is not wise. Not to mention it's not one of the easiest decks to play for beginners.

Those above decks will not get you discouraged, and you can begin to understand how to play the game.

Everyone wants to win...I'm not understanding your logic behind " Tee Hee Hee I just play the game for fun guys", and then enter a thread like this asking questions.
If you didn't care about winning you wouldn't be in here.

FYI Crusher shaman is extremely easy to play ,and still deadly in this season. I could easily get to legend off that deck.

The current game is all constructed btw. Everything comes from constructed, and the new tournament ladder will be based off it. Arena is absolutely the worst place to learn how to play hearthstone. You are not even dealing with constructed standards of only having max 2 cards...

How can you possibly get a new player used to what cards may be played on what turn, when an arena druid can have 4x swipe. It's just a ridiculous statement to tell new players to go into arena to learn.

Are you talking about crusher shaman the one that tries to use the reincarnating Earth Elementals or some other style? I'm barely seeing shaman on the ladder this season, I guess they really were mostly bots?

How would a bot play crusher shaman?? lol, bots just continually throw out taunts, or play low cost agro decks.

Crusher is neither of those...

The reason I mentioned Crusher is it's not at such a high level of play that a new player would be discouraged immediately, but it takes more skill then the low cost face/control decks.
