I've played 2 games now (huge sample size) after the MM changes and I have to say both were actually quite good. I sit in queue probably 4x longer but if it makes for an enjoyable match I can alt-tab and reddit until the game is ready.
The issue with Aba is that he's so map dependent. So if you QM you can effectively get a lost game because you get a map he's shit on. Monster has it's place but overall I like UE better.

Yeah you can definitely get jewed by a map in QM but whatever, it's just QM lol
He's pretty fun on the new map if they're stupid enough to just let you push down everything

Yeah, my friend gave me his account to play from rank 40 because he's a decent player but played a lot of games when he was new and so got a really low rank, and was having a lot of trouble getting out of 'elo hell'. I don't know what it is about those ranks, but so weird going to a place where gazlow and nova are the most contested first picks. Or people who pick both nova and zera into two tanks and tassadar. Shitty abathurs who basically made the match 4v5. Its just awful.
Climbed to about 25 so far, and people still dont counter-pick or even pick their own team properly. Just insta-lock whatever they want. I would love some psychologist to do an analysis on why gaz and nova are so popular with bads. Nova I sort of understand, with the stealth and pub stomping. But why gazlow? Probably the most useless hero in the entire game, and at low ranks they ALWAYS die overextending and chipping away at half a tower's HP getting caught by the enemy rotation. Rinse and repeat.
You can throw Sylvanas in there with Gazlowe. I don't know why, but at the shit tier ranks, they only seem to want to split push and get picked off.
Yeah. The gazlowe picks boggle the mind. Yesterday we had someone rank 13 during picks say he could go rexxar and clear minion camps at lvl 4 on battlefield of eternity. We were like "plz no." So he proceeded to pick gaz instead. Don't think he was troll either.
Personally I think the reaction to Gaz being shit tier is a tad over stated. Especially versus a good Gazlowe that understands that he is a walking ult so he'll scrap to constantly be throwing down Grav-o bombs and he's good about placement of them, following them up and your team has good wombo follow up he can work. He's decent enough on BoE simply because the other team has to fight into the Gaz or the Gaz can fight into a static objective spot.
Yeah, he ended up not working out... but I have had games where the Gazlowe made huge plays and had direct impact on winning us the game. It's just that since there is such a mindset to Gaz being shit tier, it almost puts your team on tilt as soon as he is picked. Especially when the player doesn't talk about the pick and just instas it.
Nova still feels pretty bad. Worse now with the scaling changes. I can really only hope to harass out lanes in the early game then even going into the mid game with full GP I can only do maybe 50% a heroes HP pool.
There really needs to be some kind of gating for playing heroes in HL. Like level 5? Or level 5+at least one win? I played with a rank 1 guy who basically got there by spamming Tyrande, picked Muradin. Could. Not. Play. Muradin. Simply didn't understand fundamentally how to tank. Looked him up and he has a zero percent win rate with Muradin. Has literally never won a game with him. Played him in HL 16 times, QM 2.
There are probably so many clever solutions for people not being competitive in ranked, but I doubt Blizzard will implement any of them.

Yes I've only played ToD maybe 4 times and each one has been a bad experience. The map mechanic is just bad and it needs to be scrapped.

They talked about it before it happened on Town Hall how it seemed like Fan never really jived with the team personality wise. Like they'd always hang out as a foursome (irl) and Fan would be elsewhere. Then also in-game it felt like the four players were always on the same page and Fan seemed unsure on the proper call. Again not really harping on Fan just saying it felt like it came naturally to those four and Fan was just odd-out. I don't think anyone had ill feelings it just wasn't a proper fit.
