If you're really concerned about wins and losses in pubs it is probably best to play support then. Half the time in pubs it seems the winning team is just the one that got the well played support. I've been playing Brightwing lately and it feels like I can influence team fights much more than I could on tanks and obviously on assassins.

All my emails except my spam email go directly to my phone. I had no idea I had access to this game till Battle.net launcher was launched accidentally. Been playing a bit, but good God, some of the people are clueless about even the basic mechanics of a Moba. Having fun with the game, but jfc Im getting steam rolled by arranged teams.

This game feels hollow without items. Not sure why. Something about the game changing in one walk back to base and your next engagement is vastly different.

With the talk of ZP streaming I went to have a look on twitch only to find this game has 250ish viewers. Heroes of Newerth has more.

Are people just not interested in watching this game? What is the reason for that?

Not enough people playing means not many people watching, there's very little new content and not very much total content either, no competitive aspect. There is really no reason to watch the game at all at this point. Once people can buy in and actually re-add custom games, maybe with spec mode, so tournaments can be run, then I'd expect viewers numbers to rise. Until then don't think so. My guess would be Blizzcon will have a small tournament with the spectator client before it's patched and before they sell access, as some sort of promotion for the game. Probably inbetween HS and SC2 games, to get people to watch it while waiting on the game they care about.

I'm still not 100% convinced about the success of this game though, overall. I assume it will be because it's blizzard and shit, but at the same time I wouldn't be too surprised if that was the first big blizzard flop. They're launching insanely late, in a genre that is already oversaturated. Sure it's not the same game as the others so unlike all the lol clones, they stand a good chance, but it's not like SC2, D3 and HS that all launched when their respective genre had been dead or close to for years. So either result wouldn't particularily surprise me. At least for now, the interest in the game is very limited, we'll see how it progresses.

This game isn't as engaging as DOTA was to me. There's a certain inevitability with the hero skill sets, lack of items causing instant changes in balance and gameplay mechanics. It's like watching basketball to me: nothing matters except the last 2 minutes so why bother watching the rest. I find the fights sort of uneventful until giant end-game battles. Maybe the pro scene is different but that was what I take away from actually playing. There's not as many ways to control characters and even if you could choreograph a wonderful gank, it really does very little in the long run because it isn't putting them back much anyway.

Well last I heard there were no MOBA pros playing this game. Hate it or love it but when you have single League streamers pulling 15k+ viewers these are the people that are going to draw viewers to other games. I am not sure what the viewer scene is like in DOTA but I can only imagine it is similiar. Also last I heard was the contracts that Riot had for their League LCS players was they couldn't stream other competing games that they specifically called out. I don't remember if this ended up changing or they just couldn't title it in their streams or what but also with League winding down and getting close to Worlds there isn't any reason for them to play other games. I suppose what I am getting at is there is a huge viewer fan base from the other MOBAs that will never watch this unless their beloved streamer plays it which probably won't happen. I am entirely too long winded, sorry!

Sorry I meant 'pros'.

Well I was implying there is no pro scene yet since there aren't any good players playing it, but that is probably bad to assume all the good MOBA players are only playing Smite/DOTA/LoL. Just my take I suppose.

This game snowballs worse than DOTA since there isn't much of a hard carry hero tree. You can spec for the late game but no one I'd as bad as a Midas void or anything. I've lost many games which ended at 15 minutes but were over far sooner. This game is better off without items. The game also lacks any semblance of a farming phase or ricing. Which is also a godsend. Farming may be fun to watch pros do it but is nothing but tedium when played.

I got in last week and have been playing, and honestly, I'm not feeling it. I think it will be fun to play with friends here and there, but the charm of playing as your favorite characters from Blizzard wears off eventually.

I get that last hitting is tedious to people, but items really do add some complexity to these games, and especially in the case of DOTA, allow you to counter people (sheepstick, BKB, etc, etc). Maybe if there were more talents per character/more variety?

Not a fan of the pirate ship map, but I do like the one where you build golems from the collected skulls. The curse one is good too.

The characters also "feel" slow to me.

It's still a fun game, but I don't know how much of a draw it will have for me once I get over the excitement of seeing Tyreal, Diablo, and the Lich King all duking it out. It's also nice and short, so you don't really have to commit to an hour like with DoTA.

I do think it's decent for teaching basic moba mechanics to someone new. Throwing them into DOTA is pretty rough.

I don't think you'll learn much in terms of useful skills from playing this and then dota. If anything it'd be worse, because you'd learn a fuckton of bad habits, like wandering around between lanes instead of farming, not last hitting, autoattacking the lane to push, not know timing or game pacing due to it being way too different and so on. To be honest you'd learn a fuckton more useful stuff playing lol then dota rather than hots then dota, or even lol.

It's a good thing at the same time as it's different enough that people that didn't like dota/lol can possibly like hots.

The number of talents you can choose from double once your account reaches lvl 8, don't know why they do that, but maybe it'll change.

A friend said the same thing to me when watching me play, the characters seem slow. I don't really notice that, I did play a lot of ryze when I played lol so maybe I just got used to a slightly slower pace. But don't forget about your mount in hots, basically you want to mount up whenever you're not pushing a lane or in a team fight.

I think for the "intro levels" they didn't want to offer any of the clicky talents. So basically everything you get is just a passive boost to your existing skills.

I agree that the characters seem slow and lumber around.

The map mechanics are a bit much for me, though. After the first gate is breached, the outside mechanics shouldnt affect game play. At least thats my opinion. The pirate ship map can basically win the game for your team. If you control that, then you might as well say GG and quit the game. If you lose a team fight, from a mistake, w/e, and they get all the skulls for golems, depending on the golems location, it can spell a quick defeat. Maybe reset the golems location? The capture the flag mechanic in the Demon map is far to quick. A stealther can run right past you while your temple is on your side, and you're pushing, cap it all before anyone on your team notices and then can defend it long enough for the opposing team to get the Demon. These maps are fun, but definitely need some tweaking.

I like the way LoL has fixed Stealth, in that your stealth characters will be detected if you are close to them. Since there is no way to counter stealth in this game, its far far over powered. Zeratul can basically run amok on your team and you cant do shit about it.

My opinion of the game? Its fun, but needs a lot of work. The devs need to get back to the Blizzard mentality and look at what works with other companies and steal it.

Stealth is garbage in this game. Every character has access to an AOE skill that will reveal the stealth player. There is a reason Zeratul and Nova get no play in whatever competitive environment HOTS currently enjoys.

You counter stealth by aoeing the stealther (you can see them shimmer as they walk), by using a skill (Tassadar's D ability), or some heroes can talent into Clairvoyance which reveals an area.

Uh Stealth is actually done very well in this game, because you can SEE stealthed characters moving around without any external additions. Only time you don't see them is if they're not moving, which isn't particularily risky or when they move out of vision range which you wouldn't see even with typical counters. Do have to pay attention to spot them though while sentries/pink wards make them completely visible.
