They're probably not yellow jackets. Those guys built nests in the ground. They're wasps and probably paper wasps.

As others have said, get those cans that spray 30', get a good angle and let 'er rip. Shit works good and fast. Coincidently, I discovered a nest in one of my down spouts yesterday and douched it. Today I knocked the nest away with a stick.

I know the yellowjackets build in the ground, and I even looked them up. That is what they were - there was enough composted shit in one of my gutters in which they built a nest. Shit's crazy.

But, yeah, I'ma try that 30 foot shooting stuff tomorrow. If you don't hear back, they got me.

Oh yellow jackets aren't that bad. I've run over a hive a few times while mowing the lawn.

I'm not saying it's FUN, just that the anticipation is worse than the actual sting. s. Those little fuckers are too stupid to quit. Stop, drop, and roll.

Then go find the hive and burn them the fuck out.

The evolutionary irony is that if they were smart enough to not sting me I'd let them live and continue to breed.

But I am an angry and vengeful god.

Just wait until dark and bomb the nest, they probably won't even know what's happening. I discovered a yellow jacket nest under our porch a few weeks ago taking out the trash. Best way to start your day at 6am is to get swarmed by yellow jackets.

Many moons ago, I bombed a nest of yellow jackets on Poo Hill, a place my dog liked. That night, the nest was visited by raccoons. I don't know how many, but they dug a hole 4' across and 2' deep and destroyed the place. There was honeycomb everywhere and not one living wasp.

I'm part redneck. Last hole I found in the yard full of them I poured gas down and let it soak it and repeat a few times. Then lit it on fire. Really didn't impact the yard but the flame coming out of the hole about the size of a coke can was pretty impressive. I didn't have any more yellow jackets.

Major stuff here. I bought the house in 2013?
added a garage last summer/fall. And, enclosed the carport, resided the entire house.

this year, finishing off the newly enclosed room, doubling the size of the kitchen. (knocked a wall out).
Split rail fence and digging out like 2 ft of the embankment was that fall too iirc. Drove me nuts there was no shoulder, so when there put up signs they were resurfacing the road, I ran out there, and dug out a good 2 feet of dirt/sand

Google Maps
Street view is 2009. Before I bought. they painted it a "cranapple" red, and deck white before I bought it.

Chair rail up at the yellow line. cornflower blue test is the cabinets new color. Doors are blue as well.

Finished painting the cabinets today, and the ceiling of the new room. after debating on options, went with a textured wallpaper. Beadboard. cheaper then actual beadboard.

Don't have the "finished" photos up yet.

Also just got a wall mount microwave.
Fridge died 2 weeks ago too. Water pump died back in May. Very expensive summer.
and none of the people in the photos are me. For anyone curious. Parents, friends.

Looks like you are growing weed in one of those . . .

About to buy a house, I might have to join this thread. I remodeled a house I bought in college, but its been a long minute.

Cabinets hung back up.

Hinges taking a chance.. Reused the old nickel plated ones. Scuffed them up with sandpaper, primered with spray paint, then flat satin. (didnt use a "metal etching" primer).
handles will get new hardware for. plan atm is all knobs. But not 100% decided on that. Drawers did not have any hardware. also, may or may not give them. If I do, will be handles.

Also, "way too much blue" is a concern. I hate the soffit. repainting it, and the decorative trim above the window ought to break up the blue. that might happen. (ripping the soffit out entirely, also, totally an option still.)

Floor is likely going to have to wait. Can't afford it.
Thinking a click and lock engineered "seashell" walnut for the kitchen/dining area. Golden oak real hardwood in the sunken, to match the rest of the house.

Yeah...that is a whole lot of blue. I'd definitely try repainting the soffit to see if it evens it out a bit. I'd even think about doing something like this if you still feel the blue is overwhelming:
