bought some gang boxes to route the wires out of, some plywood to wall hang the whole thing, i should have rg6 wire coming in soon (for some reason cox ONLY has 1 active inlet and it's in the living room, even tho the whole place has rg6. while i'm up there i might as well wire up the the hd antenna. gonna skip the basement drilling for now, i think i can snake a wire through some pipes that closet has a freaky tiny access door to the pipes from the other bathroom, it's weird.

also bought some drywall mud and tape, gonna try to redo my ceiling (the tape is coming off)

oh and other things like adding a second layer of shelving to some closets, it's only one shelf and it's wasted space.

So I've been redoing our kitchen, and the garage has been where I'm building my cabinets, but today I moved all my woodworking stuff to one of my outbuildings. It's 24x50, so it is plenty big. It hasn't been heated until now, though. I installed a forced air gas system in there this week, and left it so I can air condition it in the spring. biggest pain was digging the trench for the gas line. All the duct work is exposed, because why not in a wood working shop? It's not as convenient, but it's only about 100 yards from the house, so I can cope. I'm now eyeing a dust-collecting system for the whole place. Now that it's going to be a dedicated work space for woodworking and such, I can permanently position things like my table saw, compound mitre saw, band saw, and so forth. I envision myself spending a lot of time in there. The next thing I'm doing though is installing an overhead door. I want to be able to back my truck in to offload wood and such. I still plan to park the tractor in there, too. Plenty of space.

Getting that done, I was able to get all the vehicles in the garage, so we're set for the winter. That feels good. Getting the house in order is so satisfying!

For you or anyone... if you go home depot/lowes and befriend one of the higher ups in the building, you can scam some of those heavy duty shelving units they use. They can stack 3 high if you have the space. I outfitted my work barn with 3 sets wide and 3 sets high. Tons and tons of storage even with 1 set. Or you can just borrow them when they throw them out, out back of the store.

Must investigate this. Sounds awesome. I've been building shelves with plywood and four by four posts to make it all extra beefy.

watching too many remodeling stuffs

i've added the final two cameras so i got 7cams, last camera is on hold (basement) till i figureout how i want to drill down to the basement AND also it's a microusb to ethernet wire and the micro usb got stripped, so i'll have to remake the cable (i have 500ft of ethernet cable)(it only uses 4 wires anyway).

also pre-wired the rooms for cat5, just waiting on amazon now to deliver the wallplates.

can anyone give me a reason to put cat5 in my garage? i'm only asking b/c it's the easiest fucking room to rewire, ha.

Run Cat7 for lulz so you can place a Projector in your Garage that can handle 4K and above.

oops my bad it's actually cat6

but wtf, theres cat 7 now? geez

also getting off lazy ass and buying some gfci outlets, my basement kitchen gfci was tripping since i bought the place, so i just turned off that line at the breaker, , my secondary bath doesn't have a gfci and my kitchen has one, but there should be 2.

why are these shits 12bucks, geez, i don't have a fridge in my garage so i figure i don't need one there (also if/when i get a new fridge, i'd put my old one in the basement since that already has a half kitchen. (plus i heard having a chest freezer/fridge in garage if its not insulated is bad, since i makes the fridge work overtime in the summer)

The cost is why you see electricians use a single GFCI outlet to protect multiple other outlets. It used to be really common to see a GFCI in a first floor bathroom, for example, that also protected the 2nd floor bathroom receptacle. If you tripped it in the upstairs bathroom, you'd have to run downstairs to reset it.

I’m embarrassed to admit I didn’t know there even was such a thing. Do all network devices support cat7? And would you say there’s any benefit for someone who doesn’t have 4K displays?

so a gfci would trip if my bedroom and bath were connected and i threw a bucket of water at the tv in my bedroom?

I dunno. I have cat 6 being used for my 4K Projector. Pretty long run between by Server Room and the Projector.

Example Extender
Amazon product ASIN B00OZV04BK
I wouldn't say there is any benefit outside of #futureproof

Yes. Just because the outlet you are using isn't a GFI doesn't necessarily mean that it's not protected by one elsewhere in the circuit.

I learned this the hard way at my first apartment (place was OK but the wiring was fail). Roomate blew the circuit in the bathroom shaving and my Computer shutoff in my bedroom. Had to figure out which sockets in my bedroom were NOT on the bathrooms circuit.

so, redoing the tape on a ceiling isn't as easy as doing it on a wall it seems, heh. while i'm at it, i'm patching a few imperfections in the dry wall. also doing extra shelves in my pantry. i only have shelves on the back wall, i want some on the sides (i don't have enough space otherwise, and i'm currently using the basement pantry as a backup, getting annoying).

However now doing this i have redo something i was hanging in there, like fire extinquisher, first aid, bug out bag etc.

oh also, i have patch the outside wall, comcast just drills straight through the wall to route their cables. i patched the inside, put some spray foam in, and plan to use some wood bondo, luckily old owner still had leftover exterior paint.

Mix that exterior paint until you think it's thoroughly mixed, then mix another 2 minutes. Ask me how I know

Pretty happy with how the front lawn [eventually] turned out. It’s laying down a bit because I aerated it yesterday, but it should stand back up once it’s sunny and not raining every day.

Bonus pic - this is the bed in front of my house where I cleaned the seed out of the drop spreader. I’ll have plenty of plugs for any spots that stay bare after my reseeding yesterday lol

So I just moved into a new condo, and I need a little advice with the world's most horrifying monster - the wasp... This new place has a nice new wrap around balcony and while outside we noticed quite a few wasps. More than normal. We did notice a few small nests. But I am a little paranoid this new place might be susceptible to a constant wasp "influx", maybe because the balcony faces a pretty dense tree line with a river behind it?

Anyone have any recommendations? In past places I've always just checked the surroundings of my places and just sprayed any nests being built down. Anyone have any experiences with wasp decoys or anything else helpful?

Fuck wasps, I'm trying to enjoy this badass balcony.
