Yes, I have copper pipes. No, they won't get hot with just the kitchen faucet on. It's quite easy to tell the boiler isn't heating. Note that the boiler is on-demand, it doesn't have a reserve of hot water.

Fucking aerator was clogged with scale. Aerator unscrewed, 1.4 GPM. Should I have thought of this earlier? Yes. Should the plumber have thought of this? Fuck yes.

Yep. Clogged is perhaps exaggeration. Do those outlet screens themselves restrict flow much? If not, I don't know what else would cause a -1 GPM difference besides scale.

Oh yeah. Ithaca gets its water from Cayuga Lake and it's hard as fuck. We also have a water softener, but I'm not sure it prevents scale, just mitigates it.

I'll check the other aerators today.

yea, thats the only purpose of a water softener is to prevent the ionic bonds of hard water, mg and something else (calcium?), if you still get scale then i think you're not doing water softener maintence, is that why you also got that super water heater? cuz scale fucks up water heaters too.

I feed the softener salt as needed, I don't know what else needs to be done. It's a bit old, the timing mechanism is completely mechanical. A family of 5 lived in this house previously and I'm assuming it was set to recharge based on their usage. Salt is cheap as fuck, so I just left at that setting.

We have yearly maintenance on our heater and part of that maintenance is vinegar flush. The heater was replaced because something was leaking inside and they couldn't figure it out after 4 visits, so they just gave up, filed a warranty claim and got us a new version.

So far 4 seems just fine

I used the middle light switch as reference and measured, then I used the rafters for alignment and poked my screwdriver through, went down and used a card board template with hole and Drew and cut with saw. Then I caulked each one.

Also patched the big ass hole I made a year ago, heh

went all the way deep in, i think i sniff up 1lb of fluffy insulation. did the stabby screw driver test, wrong area, measured then found the main closet wall i was working on. drilled a 3/8 hole straight down, ran some fish tape, and bam, came out.

this wall is gonna have a lot of wires going down it, i figure i should only keep the holes 3/8 huh? and just drill more holes not bigger holes.

It's gonna have at least 7 cctv cam wires, and it's gonna be the main hub for the router.

i actually have no idea how i'm supposed to go from the basement to the attic tho (i wanna put a cat5 and have 1 basement cctv cam)

i mean is this really the best way?

my basement is finished too, with horrible popcorn ceiling.

I don’t know if it’s the “best” way, but I can almost guarantee it’s the simplest. Finding a precise location to drill into the ceiling/through the floor and between the walls is a feat not often performed by us mere mortals. If you don’t wanna do a lot of patching in your floor/ceiling, do it the same way the video does it imo.
