I'm waiting until tomorrow to see if the dudes show up then engaging. What did your lawyer buddy have to say?
That's a quality repair. Nice.Progress photo. Had fun jacking up the floors and wall. New beam, double width to better pick up the joists on both sides. All bug/water damage removed and portions of blocking/sill plates replaced. Compromised joists doubled from beam to piers with new material. Tomorrow we do similar treatment for the joists from the other side.
The floor in this room is noticeably sturdier just walking into it. Turns out it's important to have your joists actually sitting on something solid. Whoda thunk?

it looks worse than what it is, surprisingly nothing is damaged? there might be a broken window, can't see, pretty much 1/3 of the trunk split off
it looks healthy?
and there was like zero wind, just plop
been calling around, what the estimate on this job? like 800+?

That would be a couple thousand in my area, easily.
Cleanup and check of the OG tree + up selling you on removing the entire tree.
After dealing with my live oaks, I pay for those removals, last I payed to have some branches picked up and shredded was about 400 and that was 1/4 or less of what that is and didn't involve much in the way of breaking things down.
I'd call that a DIY if it's already on the ground and there's no risk of doing further property damage, unless you aren't really comfortable with a chainsaw. I'd definitely want something bigger than the smallish one I have for that much tree and I'd also want lumberjack chaps.

Bigger problem is where to put it. That's a shitload of volume if you don't have a big chipper.
That is an aspect I hadn't thought about and probably why the removal cost seemed so high to me since I can just stack it out of the way until it's dry enough to burn.Bigger problem is where to put it. That's a shitload of volume if you don't have a big chipper.
