I am looking for a new leaf blower and weed whacker. My 15 year old black and deckers have finally stopped working. I was thinking about maybe just trying replacement batteries if I can’t find a good deal on something new.
I got DeWalt ones since I have all their batteries for other tools.

Weed whacker is great because I don't really use it a ton, just trimming around the garden beds and walkway. The blower is very good but battery is pointless. I can clean off my patio and walkway a couple times. I would need like 20 batteries to do my yard in the fall, it just eats electricity.

Ended up getting a 2 cycle backpack off Amazon, best thing ever.

I'm Ryobi for cost/feature and we only have Home Depot here in my dinky town. I'm not sure of the nomenclature but the smaller 18V batteries I first bought when we moved here in '15 just died on me. I was using a belt sander and it just 'quit'. Go to recharge and they just flash red. It's not like I'm going to run out anytime soon but that was weird. I do love the tools.

theres 3 types of 18v ryobi batteries

basic 18v
then the high performance (hp) these have more power per cell also there are 2 extra battery contacts in the back

and this allow ryobi HP tools to output more power

ryobi hp tools are usually brushless too and a higher premium

then theres edge which just came out, it's basically a lighter hp battery

I had a couple of ryobi batteries go bad too. My son started to buy all kinds of tools for his HVAC job so he gave me 2 dewalt driver/small impact, because he got another better set plus I had their monster impact 1/2 drive for car shit(1200ft/lb) with another battery so im switching to dewalt now. All 20v. I think they are just better, more durable. And my son tells me that in the trades most peeps use Dewalt.

Just replaced my sway bar and tie rod ends on my Ipala with that impact, that fucker will take any bolt/nut off like butter.
