Oh yeah, swapped the ceiling fan out yesterday morning. Everything in the light kit looked ok so I have no idea wtf. It's full of overload protections so I guess one of them was bad. Anyhow all good now. Wife didn't even pick the most expensive fan @ HD and it looks great.

My back really really thanked me for doing it. I mean really thanked me. Fuck I'm old.
Stretch more. Lose weight if you have gotten fat. My dad swears by chiropractors too.

7 back surgeries and a brain tumor. There is no stretching more and I dropped so much weight after they took me off steroids for the tumor my wife got scared. Also FUCK chiropractors. All they ever did was wreck my shit. Fuck them all!

Edit: I was also wearing my lumbar / thoracic back brace.

I've done electrical work from 18 until I had to stop. I guess I'm too proud to get a handyman but yeah , body won't allow it anymore. fucking sucks!

Also , enjoy your free keyboard and leave me alone! :)

Ceiling fans are a huge pain in the ass. Not only are you standing on a stool holding 20 lbs of awkward, breakable shit above your head, but they don't give you enough room for the remote control sensor and all the wiring to fit in the fucking thing unless they're all in exactly the right spot and even then you have to apply some pressure sometimes.

May you never ever ever have to make up the pecker head on an electric fire pump.

So apparently window blinds can't have cords any more. Not since 2018. Strangle hazard. Went looking to replace two blinds that refuse to close anymore and come to find out I will never be able to match new blinds with my existing. /rustled

When I went in the hospital with surprise you have a brain tumor, my wife left the cat out 24/7 and he broke one side of the living room blinds acting out. Went back to the same place we bought them and found the exact same issue. They are close but no cigar. I had to google how to open, close them. One more thing stupid children ruined.

I made my yearly trip into my upstairs attic yesterday. We had our master bathroom redone over the summer and I noticed this is how they put in the exhaust piping... now I assume they did this because it was 150 degrees in my attic in August and they needed to get in and out as fast as possible, so how do I fix it? Shove it in the hole (that's what she said) and caulk? And get more of this aluminum foil looking tape and do a better job of taping around it?

is the pipe loose? it should have clamp of some type under the tape

i have seen people screw the pipe to the vent and just wrap with tape, but not seen it spread out like that. would probably put some insulation around the whole pipe, but then might need to strap it rafter.

It’s definitely loose but I didn’t try to pull it off. I’ll go pick one of those up and put it on if they didn’t. What kind of insulation should I get? The pipe is pretty pliable I’m not sure how I’d even wrap it.

edit: I see what you are talking about with insulated pipe, I'll pick one up after I do my measurements.

Yep had to replace one recently and same. It seems like it's less prone to breaking at least?

Blinds are retarded expensive though

Imagining one of my kids or friend/family die or long term disability because of something simple like the chord on blinds. Small price to pay.

I get the point though, there are plenty of dumb/annoying things around that are a result of stupidity.

Ive installed tons of these things throughout my houses and years and unless you tie the ends of the two/three draw strings together, which often times people do, there is no safety issue. But there in lies the problem, its not the blinds fault its the dumb people tying them together making a choking hazard when kids are around. If you leave the strings alone and dont tie them together, especially when kids are around, I cannot imagine anyone choking on a couple of strings unless they literally made a noose out of them and hung themselves with it. they even had paper warning tags on the end of the draw stings explicitly stating this.

All of ours were wrapped around the 'whatever the horizontal thing on top is called, I'm heterosexual so I have no idea' because we have a cat. He didn't choke on them either.

First time I had blinds with cats, I just got some of those little command strip hooks and would just hang the cords up high next to the window to prevent shenanigans. Since I can buy my own now for my house, I just buy the cordless.

This seems like a more appropriate thread than Men’s Fashion so will ask here. My current pair of work boots are toast. They e lasted a good long while and are probably well past their actual expiration date. They’re Wolverines from Academy. When I was at the power company we had vouchers for new boots every so often so just went with whatever Academy had that met our requirements. Ceramic toe, etc.

Anyways, not there anymore. I do still go on site inspections at prospective tower locations around the State which requires some hiking. Mostly they would be for yard work, tree work, hiking, I’d use them while doing wood work. Not sure I could give up the safety toe but I no longer have the non conductive requirement.

Suggestions? Was reading a lot about Danner, Thorogood, Red Wing. Would like something safety toe, water resistant, 6” is fine instead of 8”. Nothing against the Wolverines just seeing what other options people like.

I love my Red Wings. I'm on my like 6th pair of them, but you have to get the made in the USA ones. Not all of their models are these days. Part of my love for them is that I have a really odd sized foot. Size 14, AA width and Red Wing actually makes that size, but only in the American made models. I don't use safety toes, but my model is 953. They come out of the box fitting me like an old pair of slippers. The key to keeping them a long time is to oil them regularly. I don't think I've ever actually worn a pair out. They always fail because I let them get too dry and crack. My brother tried them and didn't share my love but he's had Wolverines, Whites, etc. and didn't like any of them so to hell with him. These are also narrow enough for horseback riding if you are into that.

The Red Wings will also be quite a bit cheaper than some others at $225.
