Once again, the boots I listed above are excellent for wide feet. Not sure about the heel for you, but it's a wide boot.
Lol somehow I missed the entire last page/two weeks of this thread and just saw your post. My bad.

Idk if it counts, but here’s my first attempt of restoring a piece of wall art from the backyard

Trying to mount a camera in the backyard and probably over thinking this, but having trouble finding a siding mount / block and how to install it.

I bought this one off Amazon thinking it would work, but the profile is different enough and the gaps large enough that just sealing around it won’t work.

This is a picture of the siding. It is 4 1/2” double with about a 1/2” overlap I’d guess. I could conceivably mount the camera directly to the siding and space it so it hits the flat portion of each panel. All the other exterior fixtures around the house are on siding mounts, but it looks like they physically cut away the siding to mount the block flush.

Anyway, just seeing if anyone has a suggestion otherwise I’m just screwing the thing right in there.

Temporarily stuck it up there with some of the 20lb Command Strips to try out. Now I realize there's no "Flip" option in the settings for this particular camera (Reolink 3v POE), at least that's an easy fix. Playing with the Mask just in case my neighbors get paranoid and come knocking. "no no, look really, I can't see inside your house, promise."

i literally have one drilled into my tree connected to a 20000 powerbank connected to a solar panel, just so i can marvel at my squirrel killer, crushing they heads

All our stuff (which is only 4 + NVR) is Reolink and it has been fine, everything "just works" so I've been pretty happy, and wife has and knows how to use the app and playback video if she needs to check on one of the kids. This is really just to watch the dog run around the backyard. First I've bought of their wider FOV cameras, so no PTZ. This is the 1st PoE one too but now that I've pretty much got everything run in to my network closet would be really easy to add others later.

That's a funny idea though to screw one to a tree with a solar panel. Send me a picture of that setup, I do have one blind spot that they neighbor's dog can get through and where the double gate is to my front driveway. It is out of frame to the right of the upside-down photo. My extra garage / woodshop shadows that area of the yard.

yea probably a govee would be good
Govee WiFi Thermometer Hygrometer H5179, Smart Humidity Temperature Sensor with App Notification Alert, 2 Years Data Storage Export, Remote Monitor for Room Greenhouse Incubator Wine Cellar

govee makes a lot of these single use devices, and it'll give you temp readings on wifi to your app, so you can also set alarms, like 50f too cold, beep beep. i used to have govee leak detectors b4 i moved all my stuff to wyze, i don't remember their app being great, but it'll work for what you want
I use a Govee setup here and have been very happy with it. I use it to monitor outdoor temp, the two freezers we have (can't have meat spoiling), and monitor the enclosed patio which is "The world's fanciest dog house"...
This is the setup I got :
Base unit : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CLB358BJ/
Additional sensor temp: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CLB3BTSG
Sensor with temp & humidity : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y36FWTT

Have 8 of these myself. Even in places I don't need to tilt / Pan (like my pump house) these are the bomb.

This is as good as it is going to get for my lazy ass. I may buy some smaller jumpers to go from panel to switch.

I have 12 runs coming from the attic patch panel <=> closet patch panel so that is ports 1 - 12, 13 - 16 are "local" for the rack devices (NVR, AT&T Fiber, Tablo).

Cable management with all these power bricks is a pain in the ass so they're hiding under the Reolink DVR. I have another shelf to sit that on but not sure the AT&T fiber modem will fit. Oh well, I'm happy :) PoE Camera is up and if add any more they'll be 12, 11, 10, 9 and I'll keep 1 - 8 for other computers.

Next project will be to run from this switch to a switch downstairs so I can wire up a wife's computer, TV, and anything else I might need.

The closet ended up being the perfect width for the rack rails so I ended up tossing the rest of the components and just mounting them directly to the wall, otherwise it was about 1/16" too wide to fit the assembled 8U rack in the closet due to the thickness of the side pieces.

FIL was a 'painter and decorator' in England, went to a trade school for it. Apparently that's a thing in England? Anyhow he could do that free hand (minus the last part where the plate/device is painted). It was one of those very impressive but mostly useless skills that all of us have.

Today's adventure in "tradesmen are unavailable and unaffordable":

Goddamnit, I HATE shit like this. The igniter wasn't heating, which I verified thoroughly prior to repair. Stripped the damn thing down to bare metal and spent four hours researching parts, learning the wiring diagram, and testing continuity across every component and length of wire. (No electrical/appliance training but I watched a lot of YouTube on my way to last night's Holiday Inn Express.) Couldn't identify a problem. Gave up and reassembled. Works fucking perfectly. Fuck.
