My excuse too! Had a thick book a few years after Robert Ballard discovered her in 85' full of her history, specs and everything. It captured my imagination based on her absolutely gorgeous aesthetics, unreal tragedy, and subsequent discovery at the bottom of the Atlantic 70+ years later, looking like something out of a nightmare with all the rusticles covering her, like a classic ghost ship out of literature.
For literally the past 3 years or so, I told myself... if Lego ever did the Titanic, I would go negative in my bank account if I needed to. No price would be out of the question. So, over $600 was fair considering the set. Before that I had the Infinity gauntlet and 8-bit Nintendo, and a custom diorama I built up over the course of a few years of Spidey and his best villains:
Supaa high-res! Can barely see Lizard behind Doc-Ock. I wish Lego made an official Electro with the old school comic outfit (the cheesy star on his face) but all we got was Jamie Foxx's depiction, so that's what I have to use. I refuse to go the custom Chinese route from Ebay... all 100% authentic Lego!
They are, I agree... it's a shame Lego isn't so much the "toy" you remember them to be anymore and are perfectly suited for adults. There is a world of difference in target age ranges, advanced building techniques and aesthetics of sets from:
- Lego Friends
- Ninjago / Monkee Kid
- Lego Ideas / Architecture
- Star Wars UCS sets
- Titanic, World Map, The Coliseum, The Taj Mahal

I had fully intended to do a new playthrough leading up to the release but got distracted by other shiny things. I've had to settle with YouTube vids that record the various info you learn towards the end of the game about Zero Dawn, Sobek, etc. That the game actually had, at its core, a very substantial science fiction premise was what made it such as success in my mind. Well that and the degree to which I was completely bamboozled by even simple things like the "Nora" tribe etc.

Glad I finished Dying Light twice, took half a day off tomorrow to start Warhammer 3 and hope to at least complete some shit before Horizon is there.
I can't remember having AAA+ titles stacked in a queue.

Yeah thats the extreme case. A wall of funko pops or anime figurines and eternal loneliness.
I get the art aspect, but seeing what the faceless globohomo corporation charges for it compared to what it cost them to actually make it just destroys any artistic value to me for any of this stuff imo. Though i will say this is certainly a step above cosmetics. At least youll hopefully have that entire lego set in 5-10 years, the people who blow money on cosmetics in games that will be forgotten in 3-4 years are the worst.

Yeah, my mom, back when she was still alive and a shopaholic, found 2x Lego Ultimate Collectors Edition Batmobiles at some unbelievably shitty discount/closeout style store, for 40 bucks each. Called me at work, made me come out to the parking lot and see them in her trunk, because she was so excited. I told her she was dumb and shoved them in a closet when I got home.
Like 10 years later I sold one for 600 dollars during the last big Batman hype cycle and I still have the other one new in box in the closet.

I remember awhile back Toys-R-Us had a promotion where it was something like buy one pair of kids shoes get the second pair half of, but due to their incompetence the second item in the cart got half off no matter what it was. That’s how I got a half price death star lego set.
