Ya win some and ya lose some a_skeleton_03. You have the same opportunity to get that disability, you know where your bootstraps are.
I bootstrapped elsewhere and that's why the wife and I are 1%'ers here in NC where we moved to be so instead of taking the same job in CA and being a 10%er.

It takes a certain degree of wealth to relocate on a whim to a place where you may or may not have any social support systems.

Not a real option for a large number of people.

It in fact did not, I applied to a job and did my interview over the phone. I was accepted and I negotiated for them to pay my moving costs.

If I had not negotiated for that I could have sold all my worthless crap in CA and just drove the cars out with as much stuff as I could fit in them and start over. The money earned from selling all of that would be first month's rent.

Most people just fear moving because they're pack rats with their dirty hoarder mentalities. Moving is fucking easy, just don't be a sloppy ass bastard that needs to take the fucking toilet seats with. I moved 40 times in a 15 year period and I pocketed a shitload of money in signing bonuses/bonuses I negotiated for moving/per diems. Companies take care of people that move like that, and if they don't you shouldn't work for fucking commies.

"My skilled labor job paid for my move because my skillset is highly sought after and requires knowledge and experience. Therefore anyone can move, and it can be done easily and at no cost to them!"

It's not all that uncommon for companies to pay a per diem the first year (tax free the first year I believe) of $500/week or so. Not exactly all that hard to find skill sets either. I would think $500/week would really help east the pain of moving.

Some of it is field related but a lot of it is paper pusher types.

Because I made choices earlier in my life and I made choices earlier than that and I keep making choices.

No, I get it a_skeleton_03. You think everyone has an equal shake.

I'm giving you guys the benefit of the doubt here and just assuming you're out of touch. The alternative is sad.

You're assuming people have skills that allow them negotiating power with new employers.
You're assuming people own vehicles, and won't incur massive travel or moving costs.
You're assuming people can afford to take a week off work to facilitate a cross country move, without it crippling them financially.
You're assuming people have 'stuff to sell' that is of any value, so they can afford an extra month's rent.

Your situation is not the standard one dude.

Not to mention, even if youre well off, be in a field that has jobs all over the fucking place. Im in automotive engineering and guess what, that leaves like 3 places nationwide for a job, maybe a few more if I go into manufacturing engineering side, probably way more if I full on change skillets and pay decrease to other engineering that I have absolutely no experience in like aerospace or the lower paying general product engineering. So yeah, Detroit area for me it is.

That's the thing too. If you're broke ass, you almost certainly don't own a car. That limits your choices to population centres with at least decent public transit. That means 75% of the country is just out of the question.

It isn't standard and why is that? Because I made something of myself. I pushed myself to this point. My wife did also.

You missed the part where I said I had the same exact job in CA where I would not have to move .... but my cost of living was higher and therefore my quality of life would have been lower. I made the hard choice to leave family and friends to be financially stable. I am buying a house here now that is $290k that in CA would have cost me over $500k and for what? So I could be closer to family and friends but have to kill myself working more to be able to afford it? No thanks.

Even if you don't have all of that shit. I got kicked out when I was super young and had no house or income. I fucking had to live out of my car and shower at the YMCA when I started out. I made minimum wage and in half a year saved up enough to pay a downpayment on a house. I invested it and got a job that required me to move a lot instead.

Any idiot can work their way out of a bad situation, they're just too lazy and entitled to do it. I deserve this, I deserve that. SUPPORT ME GOVERNMENT. Fuck off, I don't want to support your retarded ass, and I don't want the government to do it either.

And another assumption! Having a spouse that is self sufficient enough to provide you with support during your transition.

Bootstraps!

I believe in equality and she isn't getting a free ride. We moved because of my job though.

*spoiler alert: she makes considerably more than I do*

Oh and she grew up dirt poor like all the scenarios you are painting and now has her masters and is looking at Duke for her PHD.

"The world needs ditch diggers"
"What if there are no local ditch digger jobs?"
"Move!"
"What if they can't afford it, because they're ditch diggers, making ditch digger money"
"Maybe they shouldn't be ditch diggers!"
"But I thought you said we needed them?"
"Fuck em, they're just lazy"

Do you guys really lack any and all empathy and really, honestly believe that there aren't just some people that have less of a chance because they were never taught basic things you and I take for granted? Or that there mental capacity isn't the same as yours? Or they have other handicaps that prevent them from being able to just pick themselves up?

What is your point? Is this just another "asking questions" scenario? Have you ever been a ditch digger? Known one?

We already established you have never been in a school since you graduated so are you about to tell us you know what that life is like?

Because I do. If you want to be educated (you do not) let me know. We all know though that you are just dropping obligatory trolls and gotchas.

Maybe that shithead contractor or landscape business owner shouldn't give them jobs. They're here and employed because they get jobs. And those same shithead business owners don't pay taxes/unemployment/worker's comp/insurance because they pay those illegals under the table.

EDIT: Or all those homeowners who want something done for cheap and won't support their own local economy because they only care about illegals when they need to feign righteous indignation about "THEY'RE STEALIN ALL OUR JOBS!"

Oh on that tired argument? You gonna pretend just like Cad that because he's been in 6 schools that's representative of the entire population of schools? That just because he has a kid and I don't he's an authority on the state of every school district in this country?

EDIT: You start to realize your argument is falling apart so you throw out the troll card. Nothing I've said in here has come even close to trolling.
