You're on a special kind of crack if you bleieve unemployment is now 4.6%. But make money as the market goes up in clown world.
I've been seeing this a lot in the last week. "Unemployment is near all time lows!"

How can anyone believe this while also acknowledging that we have a massive worker shortage and people quitting their jobs in record numbers due to things like vaccine mandates?

What do you mean believe it? Seems like you are referring to the participation rate which looks really poor. The unemployment number is not some scam it's just not as all encompassing as people think. The participation rate is right there in the report and shows the very things you are talking about. I'm all for hate everything clown world mood but no reason to tilt at windmills because we don't like a definition that has existed for decades. When wanting a picture of US employment you can't just look at one number, you want to look at UR, participation rate, and the JOLTS and it seems to be all are showing rather clearly the state on the ground which is millions have left the work force and if they keep pushing mandates and social programs that support not working then it's going to keep getting worse.

There was a massive increase in boomer retirements in the past year. I think the forced shutdown plus fear of the virus made people realize fuck it I can retire and live like this. When people retire they aren’t part of the unemployment metric anymore. So extra millions of workers leaving the workforce also contributed to the current labor shortage. You retiring also didn’t help you non contributor!

I agree. I actually made the exact same argument the other day in the Politics thread. I guess my problem with it is the same as talking about "transitory" inflation.

The way it's being used by lay people to discuss the economy versus how it's technically defined are incongruent.
The workforce participation rate is still in the shitter.

Ignore the unemployment numbers as those are manipulated by changing who counts as "unemployed."

$592.80 in 21 minutes trading on TSLA. No more day trading for me, need to keep a watch on my travel swing trades after the Pfizer announcement.

In market news, the melt up appears to be well underway. S&P up more than 2% in the last 2 days after the Fed announcement.

Insanity.

Sold $150k of SPY @ 470.10 . Not a top call just trimming some bigly gains. Bought these shares on the correction @ 427, so made over 10% in under a month.

We are now at what I thought would be the top for the year but yet we are quite early in the bullish seasonal end of year period.

Was stopped out on MRK shares, I may re enter this. This was in my LT hold group and I may reenter here, shares had a cost basis just over $70 , has really run but we are now below first support, $78 more likely. Will watch closely next week decide if I want to jump back in.

Made decision on ZG and took the loss, buying to cover on my puts.

NVDA ensnared me up in a spiral of regret and FOMO and I bought some a bit over 300! Not 30 mins later clarity came to my mind and I sold it for a bit less. Maybe the quickest few hundred i've lost but I had no business FOMOing something at a all time high. Send mental help.
And now its 307 today bro.

Well that's nice to wake up to see lvs up 6%. Shame it dropped 3% yesterday.
I love NVDA, but is it really worth 1T, like it is approaching?
This guy on YouTube says the insanity with nvidia is due strictly to options.

Nice recovery on MTTR after the earnings report. My BCRX puts and calls also printing. People and earnings reports can be so fucking dumb.

CNBC keeps pushing the metaverse, anything related to that is moving up. Hell, even FB has broken its downtrend because of the metaverse.

The metaverse is a good story, and we all know, the market likes a good story (hi2u Tesla). And the market rewards innovation over all else.

Maybe it is time to sell NVDA, up 50% since I bought it a few weeks ago on metaverse dreams.

I don't know if I should sell NCLH at this point, or ride it out? Up 5% since I recommended the trade. I might sell it. edit: I'll hold, its getting stronger technically.
