Doing the wrong thing in the market can be painful as well all know, but sometimes doing the right thing can be painful in a different way. I'm hoping to close on my new house build next month and I took profits and went to cash with a goodly chunk of my portfolio just "in case" my existing home sale were to get delayed/fall apart so I could use it to buy the new place (it's a cash purchase).

Watching my cash sit on the sidelines the last month or more has been annoying to say the least. I know not being invested with cash you might need short term is the right move, but man it sucks balls. End of my sob story.

So the gubmint is calling up 3k reservists and sending them to Europe. One would think markets might be a little rattled by this. In reality, I expect markets to open limit up on the news.

Anyone have thoughts on UNH? It benefitted greatly from Covid as people cancelled elective surgeries. Its earnings are still strong AF. Its bouncing off support at $455 and if it breaks down It will start looking interesting. I am thinking the bad news about all those rescheduled surgeries should be pretty much baked in at this point.

My company does delegated utilization management operations for them on certain lines of business.

One big wildcard in their near future: they are going to be radically decreasing the amount of UM they are doing going forward and will be instituting a "gold card" program for providers (basically they monitor claims data from providers, and if it looks like that provider is prudent with requests and has good outcomes, UHC exempts them from UM/prior authorization requirements unless the data starts turning negative.)

On one hand, loosening the UM screws means they may need to pay out more to providers and patients. On the other, it also means that they can spend less on staffing and delegation for UM. Bad news for me, I guess.

Where is the cash parked? Fidelity cash sweep pays ~4.7%. That’s reassuring for me, at least, where I’ve taken some risk off the table in equities.

It's in my Fidelity account so yeah I am grabbing that interest but it's only a small consolation.

Moved back into UNH with a starter position at $449.75. Its down 13% due to elective surgeries finally catching up from Covid cancellations. Currently sitting at the support level of $449. Quality company with great balance sheet. This entry could be high if support fails and if so I will look to add in later.
