I get a strong feeling this will be gap and crapped if it doesn’t fade by the open.

China will smoke the US, because they aren't afraid to sacrifice hundreds of millions of lives if necessary. The US has lost its nuts because it's filled with foreigners with no ties/concern with its success and China did the smart thing and built a "food" ally in Brazil.

I still hope Trump goes all-in on this trade war, but the US public absolutely does not have the willpower to do whatever it takes like China's does.

China has revolution every couple generations. They too can't just do any old thing and think they are keeping their throne.

Those UNH puts are doing well today. While I have become better at dumping losers I am still torn on how to let winners run(safely). Granted I play options so in general holding is not a fantastic idea, but trailing stops are useless with some options due to the spread, liquidity, and the strange end of day market maker seeking(anyone who plays illiquid options knows what I mean).

Sanrith Descartes Sanrith Descartes , as someone who watches this stock, what is your feeling on earnings? And no, I am not taking your word as 100% financial advice and will not blame you. Just looking for opinions. From what I can tell it is nearing an all time high so I'm not sure that it would blast through that in the current market after earnings. Of course it will go in the opposite direction of whatever strategy I take, but it's tough to know that with my expiration I either lose it all or triple my money. :(

Short version, I am trying to decide on selling enough of my puts to lock in a minor profit of like 2% and let the rest risk earnings or just dump them all for the 10% gain. Chances are I will do one of those, but tempting to chase the white knight here.

Edit:

I paper hands the entire thing, nice 10% gain though. I'm a scared little bitch on losing my winners by getting greedy

WeBull $BULL up >300% .. normal market function.

Re overall market. Just shows that its looking for any excuse to rally still. Positives: rising dollar, falling yields (for now).

I am still very long.

They historically run very strong on earnings day, last quarter was bad and it followed lots of other historically good performers showing misses on earnings day. Those Q4 reports generally sucked. Tbh, they are a long term hold for me, so I dont overly stress individual quarters unless I see something fundamental is changing. I honestly expect them to possibly take some pre-charge against possible fines for their Medicare billing issues the Feds are looking at. The big thing for me (and Wallstreet) will be their forward guidance.

As per my edit above, I bitched out lol. The 15$ drop today net me about 9.3% on the put position I had, so no complaints. I didn't want to risk a real gain for a pipe-dream. Obviously if the earnings did shoot it up my position would go to 0$ overnight, not worth it.

I took out a new put on NEM. Same deal as UNH. Its overbought on RSI, approaching resistance, outside the upper bounds of BB....again looking for a quick flip.

EDIT:
Of course right after I sell it goes from -15$ to -19$ :( I cannot figure out how to properly trail stop these wide spread or fast moving options where they have enough room to grow but not enough to swing right back to a loss. Missed out on an extra 20% almost.....ohh well

Sure, but they, as a populous, can endure "pain" a lot longer than the US can. Especially in 2025. They also will likely only need to "hold out" for 4 years.

Bullying China was something the US should've done 30 years ago. Now? China is going to tell the US to fuck itself. Trump is doing the right thing in that decoupling from them was something that should've been started 30+ years ago(Clinton never should've opened them up in the first place), but the long game is something China definitely wins in 2025. Not only do they have a lot more willpower to endure hardship, they have a LOT more manpower to do it.

Eons ago Trump was big on doing something to Japan because Japan was buying up a lot big real estate in the US. I think thats where his "it's not fair" deal started. We'll see if it sticks but LOTS of stuff now is only made in China, even in my industry that the steel is required to be rolled in the US lots of stuff like consumables for the equipment is now only made in China. Just not enough money in it for someone to build a factory for a low margin item with little sales compared to the big stuff.

Nothing wrong with locking in profits on trades.

I'm not an investment guy by any stretch. But it blows my mind that Nvidia is normally the most traded stock every day I look. I know people are heavily on the AI hype train but the most traded every day? I sold some of my Nvidia stock at the first of the year soley based on I couldn't see the stock going to the moon forever. Maybe it will. Only sold some of it, not all.

I wish I didn't agree with your underlying assertion here as much as I do. That's one reason Trump needs to overload the thing and win fast if he's going to fight this fight. If it becomes really protracted then public opinion will hammer Trump, which he does care about.

The US/China are inexorably linked for quite a while into the future. At least the next 2-3 generations - by then, they'll likely be able to tell the US to fuck itself without also immolating themselves. So, for now, if one burns so does the other. The massive issue for Trump/US is that China is willing to endure being on fire a lot longer than the US is.

It's all a gigantic hype machine. The fundamentals behind AI are real, but all the AI promoters are bullshitting about what its true capabilities are and downplaying where they get their training data from. At the end if the day all "AI" is a compiled library of information sourced largely from public internet datasets, but in many cases in complete violation of intellectual property law.

The talk of the "race to be the first to make AGI" Is just the carrot on the stick to keep the venture capital flowing. It's retarded.
