FB to the moon today.

It's like my TSLA play for some of you... but this is like a funny money account that I bought 100 shares at $38 or something and I am just letting it ride until I retire.

I'm buying just based on this letter. And the software is pretty sporty too. I really hope they can make money.

I find Peter Thiel to be pretty impressive. That alone makes me curious about how this IPO will go. I know very little about Palantir other than lol-government contracts

not investing related but if we are going to fanboy Thiel, I recently listened to this episode of a podcast I know nothing about other that who the host is and it was a great listen:

Eric's podcast is pretty amazing honestly. There is literally nothing else like it.

So I really like what Palantir is doing

The company aims to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol PLTR. Rather than sell shares through an initial public offering, the company intends to debut with a direct listing

I didn't know much about IPO process and went to read about it.

The bulk of IPO shares are allocated to institutional investors, such as mutual funds. There typically are very few shares available to individual investors.

That's some democracy shit. Sell it to everyone at the same time rather than favoring institutional investors.

Palantir is this forum's wet dream

Palantir has two segments: government, specifically U.S. and non-U.S. government agencies, and commercial customers. But Palantir won't do business with just anyone. "We generally do not enter into business with customers or governments whose positions or actions we consider inconsistent with our mission to support Western liberal democracy and its strategic allies," the company said in Tuesday's filing. For example, Palantir said it does not work with the Chinese community party and does not host its service in China.

Uhh...

I no shit might go all in on this
Fair warning to everyone looking at Palantir. I have heard rumors their financials are that great. I am waiting for them to be released.

Flobee Flobee Palantir is a semi-secretive software company that provides services to governments. Its not 100% sure what they do, but deep data analysis, AI-type support, maybe facial recognition , predictive pattern analysis sound possible. Shit like that.

IPOs fuck retail investors. Its why you see it priced at 18 but open at 30. There are no shares for sale until the price gets obscene because the shares are already to sold to the in crowd at a discount.. SPACs and Direct listing are much more retail friendly.

I've always liked peter thiel and his ethics/morals are very similar to mine. No way I'll go all in, but I'm shooting money that way for sure.

Sounds like stuff we don't necessarily want to do well, but it totally will anyway. I've never assessed a companies finances but I wonder if it wouldn't be something that you're betting on paying off down the line as those things improve in value.

I definitely don't know what I'm talking about though.

I cant honestly say the financials are good for a software company. I have doubts they can ever grow to be a behemoth in a portfolio. That said I have been watching them for a long while. I will at list buy something. here is some more info..

"Palantir’s technology allows users who own data, or have access to it, to aggregate it into a central repository that’s easy to search. U.S. government agencies including the Defense Department, the Department of Homeland Security and the Internal Revenue Service are customers, as are government agencies in Denmark, the U.K. and a dozen other countries. "

Also " A few years ago, Palantir built Foundry, software that automates once-manual work and laid the groundwork for Palantir to increase its corporate sales and start its first ever sales team. Some 98% of Palantir clients now use Foundry, according to information shared with investors this year. "
