Just know that the US is just a piece of a larger pie. Air BNB has had significant global presence for many years now.

Eleven years on, Airbnb’s site lists more than six million rooms, flats and houses in more than 81,000 cities across the globe. On average, two million people rest their heads in an Airbnb property each night – half a billion since 2008.

London, Paris and New York have the biggest number of listings, but Airbnb accommodation is available in Mandalay, Ulaanbaatar and Brazzaville.

I rented an AirBNB for a week when I went to Eastern Europe last year so I'm aware.

A broader point to be made is that AirBNB client base is overwhelmingly recreational (vacations, holidays, getaways) while hotels have a more balanced client base of business and recreational travel. Recreational travel will continue to get hammered in the Covid era not just due to rental bans, but also to travel bans and various quarantines. It sucks for everyone in travel and hospitality like hotels and airlines, but it REALLY SUCKS for companies who live mostly on entertainment dollars: cruise lines, music venues, nightlife and AirBNB

I'm not trying to say AirBNB is a poorly run company or a bad business idea - I'm just pointing out that during COVID none of those strengths are significant enough to offset the damage COVID is doing to their business.

Wait and see is the best plan, but unlike PLTR or SNOW where the waiting was measured in weeks -- in AirBNB's case it could be years. I definitely wouldn't buy now and I probably wouldn't buy until there a mass deployment of vaccine (in few months presumably)

Speaking of WSB, LAZR (formerly GMHI) is up 40% in the pre-market. Cramer talked about them last night and the Joe Investor types heard their name for the first time. Already a million shares traded at 8:30am

LAZR isnt a vaporware company. They have 1.3 billion book of business just with Volvo and the founder of the company is backed/being mentored by Peter Thiel. Right now, anything EV related is moving as more and more people see the adoption as becoming more mainstream and less Leonardo DiCaprio. Also, LIDAR isnt just for cars. Drones, robots lots of other applications.

As much as i'd like to hold long term, I'm up over 100 percent on this now and I can't diamond hand everything (PLTR is enough). Is the LAZR ticker going to magically appear in my fidelity lineup at market open? the old GMHI looks like in transition and won't let me do anything with it. I think its prudent if I set a trailing stop loss on this one, especially since I'm carrying so much margin and can't hold everything forever.

edit: looks like I can just manually go to trade and type in lazr to work with it. Are you keeping this Sanrith or taking profits?

edit #2: when I try to put in a order for it , it says gores metropolis is not in my account. hmmm, and when I try GMHI, says that does not even exist. I better not be blocked form doing anything with this at open..

I think I said previous I have 100 shares, its actually 500 shares, so this is not a trivial amount. Hopefully gets rectified soon I don't want to just dump it, but want to trail stop loss it.

1. I am keeping it long term and trading options around it for extra cash. I think the LIDAR space has huge growth potential. The founder of the company is a genius and has Thiel mentoring him on the business side.
2. You will need to give Fidelity some time to adjust the symbols in your account. They try to get it done by 9:30 but it could be a few hours. LAZR is built in the system and visible but your specific account probably has a long number representing the former GMHI (see picture). If you want to get rid of it right at the open you might have to call and have a rep make the trade for you. Consider the stock is going to be volatile today as many folks are in the same boat you are and can't physically trade it until their brokerage finishes the conversion.

3. if you search for LAZR you will see it and the activity so its in their system, they just need to convert all the positions in accounts that hold it. My options have already been adjusted and are in my account correctly with the new symbol.

edit: try using a directed trade & extended hours ticket and see if it will let you sell from there.

For anyone looking for a long term buy/hold SAAS play, CRM (Salesforce) announced the purchase of WORK (SLACK) and the market didnt like it (nor do I). Stock tanked down the level it was pre-inclusion to the DJIA. I had an order to buy yesterday at $215 and missed filling by about 50 cents. I dont advise chasing it up, I think its a buy in the $210-$215 range (though I would prefer it at $200 but I dont see it hitting that level) and I will probably regret not chasing it in the $220s but it might be something for anyone looking to add a company like this. As always do your own due diligence.

Yeah still telling me I don't have it in my account. Guess i'm forced to wait, call volume is high to fidelity right now. Maybe blessing in disguise if it just got hyped in the last 24 hours and everyone pours in. Lets see.

Jetblue the other day also upped their cash burn and lowered their expectations, and of course issued 500 million more in new stock. I expect the other airlines to issue more stock too, just like the cruise lines have been doing. I would like to get back into them, but i'd need a far larger drop for that to happen.

The House signaled willingness to move on some sort of stimulus bill. I havent seen an outline yet but I have to believe their will be airline money in it.

I get the feeling pltr and lazr are always competing to be the biggest winner or loser of the day

I sold most of my PLTR and PYPL this morning. Trying to move more of my portfolio back into funds and, atm at least, cash. I don't like the volatility coupled with the looming threat of shutdowns as cases and hospitalizations hit all time highs.

It was tough to pull the trigger on those sells though because I am going to be paying through the nose in short term capital gains taxes this year.

I remember writing my PLTR $35 strike covered calls back when PLTR was trading at $20 and thinking I couldn't believe I got 35 cents premium for them. It would have to go up 75% to hit the money. Someone who wasnt me made bank on those.

Short term gains are going to fuck me this year too.

Rolled my Palantir covered call forward and up.

Unsure if good idea or brazenly stupid, but whatever, at some point gotta figure it out.

A lot of this is based on the time value which is why I wait until late in the day on expiry to perform a roll. One reason is you may end up not needing to roll if the price tanks on the expiry day and two you have bled out almost every last cent of time value on the expiring in the money option. At that point you are (should be) capturing the time value on the roll forward as profit. The hope is that there is enough profit captured in time value (combined with the original premium you got from the first sell) to allow you to roll higher. It is what I am going to be looking to do tomorrow with DAL.

Hard to tell at this point, before the last couple weeks PLTR was only moving about 5% total in a week, and right now it's moving 15% both ways daily so at this point ride it out near the end of the contract and cross your fingers
