I get the AGI appeal.It's all a gigantic hype machine. The fundamentals behind AI are real, but all the AI promoters are bullshitting about what its true capabilities are and downplaying where they get their training data from. At the end if the day all "AI" is a compiled library of information sourced largely from public internet datasets, but in many cases in complete violation of intellectual property law.
The talk of the "race to be the first to make AGI" Is just the carrot on the stick to keep the venture capital flowing. It's retarded.

But IMO the next target is inserting AI into robotics to do meaningful tasks. This will be the next killer appliance. OK maybe killer is a poor choice of words here.
Trump announce chip tariffs or something? Nvda down 4% and and 2.5%.
Looks like because of this;
yeah we were forced to deploy deepseek on aws bedrock to try it out. what a fucking waste of timeRemember when that Chinese AI came out and everyone was speculating on how China got ahold of export controlled chips? Not sure how many months ago that was, but now apparently they're not only acknowledging it but it's a massive portion of their revenue?
The H20 chips were already specifically downgraded for the Chinese market to reduce AI performance. H100+ were the subject of the real export controls. The new restrictions also impact more markets than just China.how China got ahold of export controlled chips? THere was no speculation, they used H20s and that was known. The reason that was a big deal is that the H20s are the previous hopper generation and not BlackwellRemember when that Chinese AI came out and everyone was speculating on how China got ahold of export controlled chips?
