I was trying to see if Musa ever did go to Bohemia and AI overview gave this:
Never trust AI. Big LOL as the Mali empire definitely never included parts of Bohemia. Musa is actually an interesting character but I'm pretty sure he nor his ancestors did not visit Bohemia at all.
Edit: looks like in the game they're not actually talking about the actual Mansa Musa, but obviously they were inspired by it and it's still historically wrong.

1407 Bohemia 50% sand box/50% story driven rpg. kind of like witcher, but more immersion. and no fantasy. heavy on realism. and deep combat. not dark souls combat. more like, chivarly/bannerlord. you need to actually block left, right, up, etc, to directly block attacks in the direction they are coming from.

You had plenty of time playing the first. If the first never was on your radar, you can probably ignore this one too. It's pretty much the same (just more and better).
Story is great, immersion is great, RPG elements are great. First person is also something you hate or love.
The combat is comparable to dark souls in the way that it's hard to learn and hard to master. Shooting an arrow at a guy in plate with a bow does nothing. Melee is challanging as in you have to pay attention to your opponents movement and attack angles. Fighting more than one enemy is actually hard, since you cannot parry different angles at once.
If you like this kind of realism and a good story and presentation, try it out. If you're still on the fence from what you've read and seen so far ... it's probably not for you.
And get over the gay thing. No one bats an eye at fucking the druid/bear in BG3 - since it's your choice. Same thing here. Nothing is forced upon you.

idk, people seem to say 2 is better then one in the combat.
A major part of that is 1 intentionally starts you off bad.
its like gothic, where skill in combat actually effects your ability to fight mechanically. as a peasant blacksmith with no combat training, you start the game not knowing how to fight. and your attacks are slow, sluggish, and have poor form. as your skill improves, your actual form improves and you get deadlier. its legit hard to win fights at the starts of kcd1.
2 starts you off however, as a now well trained squire. so, right off the bat you are in much better shape to get going.
Idk.. I kindof hate dark souls combat. I think conan exiles does it better. I don't like witcher combat. bannerlord/etc type are also good. but I suck at it.
and... I didnt like kcd 1's combat. I didnt like it enough to get over the hump of "being bad". to me, it just felt like inputs were not matching actions.
KCD 1 goes on sale all the time. pretty sure I got it for free even. epic, gamepass.. Very much recommend if you are curious.

After watching streams of the game. My opinion on the gay shit is, "it was a huge mistake". not even the normal reasons. its for the sam and frodo reasons. Brain rot leftists, CONSTANTLY gay erotizes male friendships, and brotherhoods. its gross and toxic as hell.
Turning this bromance into brokeback mountain is a huge mistake on Vavra's part. its directly playing into this shit. even if its "optional".

If it's optional and you have to go out of your way to initiate it why would it bother you?
I intensely dislike homosex stuff but I wasn't bothered by it once in baldurs gate. I just had my male character and the harem of women companions most of the time. I did take the male characters for their quest stuff and into areas where they had unique interactions and never had any homosexual stuff pop up on me.

You say that about BG3, but I had to constantly wonder if the friendship options to progress storylines were going to lead me into gay options. It really does things like take the Druid who seems like an awesome bro and turn him into this dude that is constantly hitting on me EVEN AFTER I SAY NO. The fucking option just stays at the bottom of the list of talking points as an unexplored dialogue path ever fucking time. It honestly gets annoying even with the straight characters. I want good fucking character arcs, not to be able to fuck anything with a pulse. They have turned these games into dating sims at the cost of a ton of goodwill from fans.

The only surprise here is that Vavra not only stayed with the company after selling out, but is defending it fervently and in complete contradiction of everything he said about the first game.
