To cater to larger audiences giving everyone more choices? It's a multiplaform release, unless the game genuinely enforces you to do that, who cares? Morrowind, Fallout, Deux EX, Vampire Bloodllines, Dragon Age, Baldur's Gate, Nier Automata, The Witcher? Any RPG giving more choices is okay unless it's all about it. Who would give a flying fuck about your BG3 dark elf gymbro alpha male character sucking vampire dicks on the side? It's been there since the dawn of civilization, if you hate it just don't go into it.

Story is great, immersion is great, RPG elements are great. First person is also something you hate or love.

The combat is comparable to dark souls in the way that it's hard to learn and hard to master. Shooting an arrow at a guy in plate with a bow does nothing. Melee is challanging as in you have to pay attention to your opponents movement and attack angles. Fighting more than one enemy is actually hard, since you cannot parry different angles at once.

If you like this kind of realism and a good story and presentation, try it out. If you're still on the fence from what you've read and seen so far ... it's probably not for you.

And get over the gay thing. No one bats an eye at fucking the druid/bear in BG3 - since it's your choice. Same thing here. Nothing is forced upon you.

Good thing about making a period game is that you should show exactly as much diversity and homoeroticism as was common in the period according to mainline historians. So finding the one black guy in fuedal Japan and making him the MC is ridiculous.

I'm no expert but I kinda imagine there were a bunch of Ds getting S'd by dudes basically everywhere for all history. So it's appropriate for one side quest to have that option. The problem is when that goes waaaay beyond representing the period piece accurately and it instead becomes a core component. From what I've heard it's not the case here.

That being said, I'm with Brahma Brahma and don't give a shit about romance in games.

It's more of the first game. If you liked the first one you'll love this one. Some of the more annoying mechanics have been smoothed over, lock picking is still kinda tough with a controller.
