Side note (I had to double check)... Demi has been in a total of 3 scenes? And little to no dialog, no reason for her to be listed on credits.
Was literally thinking the same thing this morning when watching this. She has 30 seconds of total screen time.

I've really been enjoying this show, but I can't quite pinpoint why. I'm just going to assume it's BBT, cause I don't know what else it'd be.

I really enjoy the show for reasons I can't explain either, but without BBT it would be unwatchable trash.

Show would be trash without Billy Bob. It started out solid and has fizzled.
The episode with the nursing home shit was bad.

Yeah, not sure what's going on here. And I'm really not looking forward to this foreshadowed kidnapping by the cartels. Between that and the retarded son, I'm getting nervous about the future of this one.

Did they say why she's always swimming?

I'm looking forward to Boss, Nate, and the engineer stright up gang banging the daughter overlaid with an oil pump montage....because that's the only place it goes from here.

I've seen bollywood parodies of courtroom scenes that were closer to real attorney work than what they're showing on this show, I assume the oil stuff is similar.

It's fun nonsense, I like it so far.
There's a YouTube channel that is reviewing these shows with a group of real "landmen" talking about it's verisimilitude. I saw some of those before I watched the show. It kind of reminds of the college football movie "The Program", where 20 years of more or less real stuff I knew about or heard about happened in a single season.

It was great starting out; it seemed like an OilPatch True Detective, with BBT dropping disconcerting truthbombs on everyone like a cowboy hat-wearing Rust Cohle. Asits gone on the luster has waned some; lets see where it lands. 10 planned episodes I think for the first season.

I don't want to seem like I am always shitting on this show as it has potential....but..

Demi got 2 more lines this week, well done getting paid. (I assume they are setting her up for season 2?)

I could do without the "Dawson's Creek" storylines all over the place.

Cartel storyline is ok I guess.

The subject of the show is actually interesting as I know nothing of that business, I just wish they wouldn't try so hard to dramatize and just make it about the company.

One nit pick if I may?
BBT character has spent 35 years in Texas and doesn't know Mexican food dishes?

I am committed now, but they better start killing of some people to hold my interest for long.

It still is trash, but at least it was moderately entertaining. They need to get rid of the two women and his son, though. Pointless characters. Badass young woman lawyer smarter than people who have been doing it for decades was a stupid idea the first time it was used. Now, it's just pathetic. Military blowing up cartelians was impressive, because they managed to Jump the Shark in only 8 episodes, whereas it took Happy Days years to reach that point.

I'll watch the final two episodes just for the lulz value, then will forget it. I suspect 99% of people watching it will do the same.

Re: Demi
My thought is they are going to kill Hamm (maybe in a season ender) and she takes over running his oil business. I can think of no other reason she is in this show considering the amount of airtime she gets. Ali Larter eps 1&2 I was like why is she in the show to do her 2 minutes of screen time on facetime? And then we find out why she was cast in such a bit part.

They are playing up Hamm's heart issues to prep for his early exist. He is too big an actor for such a small bit role (relatively). They showed in Eps 1 they arent afraid to kill off characters with name actors.

Liking the show. As stated, Billy Bob Thornton is the Kevin Costner of this show. Without him the show is flat. I agree that Hamm is probably going to die and the wife takes over. Its a Shame because I like Hamm in this role. Thanks to the heads up on the old folks home portion. I just fast forwarded through that part. Show has some serious eye candy. Given the part where it showed Billy's character being observed while around his daughter, I also think a kidnapping is coming. Loved the episode where he got back for his son. "Sir we will just take him into this other room to continue the interrogation....".

Its a fun watch so far.

Show is still the one I'm looking forwards to the most each week right now.

Old folks home was fine for one episode, lame filler to see again. Really hope it's doesn't become a permanent thread in the show.

The quiet before the storm episode I presume. That was the slowest episode of the season. Only thing that made me question was the hospital scene with Monty Miller(John Hamm). He is a billionaire. There is no way a nurse is not just in that room with him with a doctor checking on him at his beck and call. The old folks thing is really odd. That is the part of the show that just goes off the path. Still worth watching but episode 10 should be a little bit more.

My guess with the old person home shit is one of those old people are going to die on her trip and she's going to get sued. Going to cause a shit ton of problems for the family.

I agree, and with all due respect to the several ridiculous blondes, I think the hottest one on the show is Paulina Chávez.

Lol Jerry didn't mention his daughter he had with his mistress, fought to hide, and paid to go away when she got a court ordered DNA test.

I don't have to admit that when Demi says "Jerry is in talking to him", i had no idea we would see Jerry Jones. Nice little move.
