Lenovo ThinkPad is still the best work laptop in my opinion, i wish i could convince my work, we get dell latitudes which are "ok" nothing really wrong with them if you spec them correctly, though i guess it also depends on what you do for work, mine is for development but if you just need standard ms office and web either is ok but i love the durability of the Lenovo.I know nothing about laptops these days, haven't had one in like 10 years, so I'd love some help. I'm looking to pick up a work computer so no need for gaming and don't want to spend more than $1200. Not interested in Macs. Any advice?
At 1080p, you don't need all the "desktop replacement" shit you used to need inside a laptop. My g75 demolishes anything I throw at it, 1080p, full retard on settings. Bioshock ran flawless. Bollocks the Alienware. If anything, get an XPS, since it's essentially the same shit. Most Alienware machines will beat the G75 quite handily. You just have to empty your bank account to buy one.
g75 is a monster for heat dissipation. Look into it.My biggest concerns with a gaming laptop is heat.
Like 7 or 8 years ago I spent $2500 on a gaming laptop (had a lot of the latest stuffs) and that shit overheated like crazy. It also sounded like a Jet taking off.
I'm ok with a midrange power gaming laptop as long as it doesn't double as a space heater. I'm mostly looking to be able to play games not on max / max graphics settings. That alienware I was looking at seemed to meet that criteria but I'll look at that G75
I'd almost prefer a gaming laptop to be designed with external cooling attachments specifically fitted for the laptop to increase it's heat dissipation.
This is so very true. It makes my Alienware M17x look like a fucking heat lamp. I wish the M17x was half as good at dissipating heat as the G75 I had for a short while.g75 is a monster for heat dissipation. Look into it.
God, I feel like a shill.
