You don't leave newbie status until you have roughly 200-300 wins under your belt. Don't stress it. Note, I'm saying wins and not games. MoBAs just have an insane amount of intricacies and nuance too them. Even the "simple" ones like League.

Anyone else play with the Ziggs W changes yet? I got a few games in with him last night and I definitely notice a difference. I had a few close call escapes that I know would have gone differently without the changes. Ended up wrecking face.

What I wouldn't mind in LoL 2014 is a ranked queue with a limited pool of champions. Makes it easier for the newbies and you can do some interesting things with it. Keep the current ranked queue with all champs of course. Basically I am thinking something similar to how Magic the Gathering operates with its standard vs modern formats. Only the standard (limoted pool) in LoL would not necessarily be the newest champs.

Granted I don't play ranked yet, but that sounds awful. You're basically saying you want a casual ranked queue. The reason standard works as a format in MTG is because of how fast the format changes, and the card pool, even in standard, is far too deep and diverse to compare to the champion pool in LoL.

Also, of all the formats, standard is easily the least casual. What you want is more like the equivalent of 10 proxy vintage tournaments or something.

Honestly this is already implemented. A new player only has access to the free champions...

But still has to learn the other 100+ to play well. It is a problem that is only going to get worse as LoL goes on, and the way LoL is set up it could still be going 25 years from now.

I get what Xalara is saying, it's something I've wondered about alot.

When I started playing, it was season 1 and there was maybe.. 50 champions? I'm not sure, but it seemed like a bunch and I was seeing new champs all the time. Even having played Dota and knowing it'd take awhile to learn, it seemed like a pretty big task at first. I'd face a new champion, get wrecked by them, and think they were OP until I actually got to play as them.

I can't imagine how much worse it is now that there is so many more champs, and how much worse it'll be in another year, or two. It'll become a huge barrier to entry for a lot of casual players down the line.

The champion reworks rather then releasing new champs is a good start. I think they eventually need to slow down even more on releasing new champs, and doing a rework of the least played champion every month.

Riot is only releasing ~12-14 champs this year. The trend is less champs being released every year and more focus on revamps to older champs. I would imagine we'll only see 10-12 champs in 2014. This is not an obscene number by any means. If you are going to be a diehard LoL player then you'll learn them all easily.

Limiting ranked isn't the best idea considering ranked is meant to be for players that have an understanding of the game (which is why it is limited to level 30s).

You can't use the free champs in ranked, that was disabled a while ago. You need to *own* a minimum of 16 and you can only choose from those you own.

Not every gametype needs to have a ranking system. Your "limited champ" gametype might be cool as a Custom option for Custom games, but not as anything official. I'd rather have an ARAM ranking system before this

Oh, and... you really don't even need to learn 100+ champs tbh, you can easily read up on the champ you'll be facing on an external website or during champion select (click champ portrait, watch the videos of the champ's skills within client). There are only so many things a champ can do. You can easily assess the situation once you see about 50% of the abilities in game since the other 50% likely share similar functions as the other 50%.

They need to stop releasing champs and fix bugs and get a new interface imo. It seems like half of the champs have a bugged ulti or something similar. But let's keep releasing more hurr hurr.

The problem is that right now Riot's business model requires releasing new champs. This is one of the biggest reasons why they are pushing e-sports so heavily, because if they can establish themselves they can use that as their primary revenue stream (advertising, sponsorships, ticket sales, etc.).

Skins. Champions can be acquired without spending $. More money is spent on skins (I have no facts to back this up other than my own spending habits

) Riot is not keeping their business afloat by only releasing ~12-14 champs per year though. That's a fact.

I never said that new champions made them the most money, I said their current business model requires releasing new champions. There is a difference

well it does give a nice carrot to look forward to every once in a while but tbh I believe the very strong & popular competitive scene is doing much more to keep the game relevent. If there wasn't an esports scene I imagine the game wouldn't be nearly as successful. The fact the esports scene is so popular makes a lot of people want to keep playing and strive to get better. I think we'll continue to see the spacing between champ releases grow since the business model is changing quickly for them.

I would really be interested in seeing sales numbers for Spirit Guard Udyr. I have a sneaking suspicion they are completely insane.

I doubt they'll trump Pulsefire Ezreal though. You couldn't go a single match without seeing a PFE skin.

Why the hell does dodging during a promotion series count as a loss for one of your games. It should just give you the time penalty imo. Was in my promo series, first game I go to select my champion and league stalls out where it brings up the loading bar and says something like "attempting to reconnect to servers" My internet was working great, was browsing websites etc etc, but it wouldnt let me select my champion. After time runs out, it boots me, marks it as a loss. Probably the first time that's ever happened to me too. /raaaaaaaaaaaage
