Hello folks, I would like to drop some knowledge on the new players to help you get accustomed to playing League of Legends.

Here are some videos for you to check out, that will help you understand a bit about the game.

Basic Guide to LoL

Last Hitting/Farming Guide

Warding and Ward Placement

Rune Guide

#1 rule for buying runes. DO NOT BUY T2 RUNES, they are a waste of IP. Hell, don't even bother buying T1 runes. Just grind out your games until you get to level 20+ so you can start buying T3 runes.

Stutter Step, Attack Move

Config instructions for Attack Move bound to Mouse1
Part I of this post explains why you should use this setup and explains some of the nuances
Part II is the meat, i.e. the specific key config you will use. Skip down to here if you don't like prefatory blather.
----------------------------------------------------------------
This short guide will teach you how to bind attack-move to your left button and move to your right button. I'm a very new player, but this setup has completely altered the way I play ADC, and transformed a mechanically frustrating role into one which feels fluid and intuitive.
Making this change will require less than 5 minutes of thoughtful modification, and then you should spend a few games practicing with the new settings to readjust yourself.
Know that if you wish to bind your attack-move to your left click button, you can currently only do it in the config.ini file.
Find it in your LoL folder inLeague of Legends\Config\input.ini.
You will definitely want to make a backup of your input.ini file before you make any changes.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Notethat you will have to rebind some of your current left-click functions to a new button. Many people will choose the middle button for convenience. I use shift-left click because my middle click is an immovable rock. I will show you both ways.
Benefits of this particular setup that I haven't seen with any other setup offered online:

  1. The most difficult part about using scroll wheel as a button is that it sometimes zooms when you don't want it to. I have included two lines, Mouse4Pan and RollerButtonSpeed, which eliminate accidental zoom.
  2. Eliminates accidental attack moving while typing, zooming around minimap, or moving items around the inventory. Almost as importantly, this setup allows you to continue to use left click in the store. These settings are in the [HUDEvents] category, and took me many trial and error iterations to pin down.
  3. Protects your health and sanity. When your attack speed is high, being able to rock between the two mouse buttons is much easier on your wrist than spamming right click repeatedly, and is less mentally taxing than alternating between rightclick and shiftrightclick. Also, your APM should be higher when rocking between two different mouse buttons, which is vital in endgame when you are performing several attacks and moves every second.
One last thing to note: Youmustinclude the headers [GameEvents], [MouseSettings], and [HUDEvents] if they are not already in your config file. The settings below must go under their respective headers, or they won't work properly.
Anyway, here you go.
Copy the below into your input.ini file, removing redundant entries. This uses Middle Button to replace current Button 1 functions

[GameEvents]
evtPlayerAttackMove=[<Unbound>] evtPlayerAttackMoveClick=[Button 1] evtPlayerSelectClick = [Button 3] evtOnUIMouse4Pan=[<Unbound>]

[MouseSettings]
RollerButtonSpeed = 0

[HUDEvents]
evtOnUIMouse1 = [Button 1], [Button 3] evtOnUIMouse2 = [Button 2] evntHudMoveableSelect = [Button 3]
Copy the below into your input.ini file if you desire to use a different button for your former left click functions

[GameEvents]
evtPlayerAttackMove=[<Unbound>] evtPlayerAttackMoveClick=[Button 1] evtPlayerSelectClick = [Shift][Button 1]

[HUDEvents]
evtOnUIMouse1 = [Button 1], [Shift][Button 1] evtOnUIMouse2 = [Button 2] evntHudMoveableSelect = [Shift][Button 1]

Man, even though Hecarim has been nerfed alot lately, the cheaper elder lizard jungle item still makes him a ridiculously strong jungler. I'm around a 70% win rate with him at 23 games (my best win rate with champs I have more than 5 ranked games with).

That's like saying it's the fire departments fault when your house burns down. Someone needs to call them so they can do the job.
So you always wait for someone to tell you to shen/nocturne/TF ult before you do it? I can understand and agree with you if you tell me that he had no clue they were doing dragon because he was focused on top, however, it was stated that they called the dragon and were going to engage 5v4 since top had nothing to answer with if shen ulted in. He should have been watching dragon waiting to ult in.

Nice work there Cerebrindal.
I started a month ago Springbok; fun game indeed!
Most of the good advice has been given but as you level up a bit more I'd suggest starting to practice champs against the AI a bit before playing with humans. It's probably just me but learning a new champ on the fly playing against humans is a great way to lose.

Two things I found while browsing Reddit today.

ELOphant- TheElophant Champion Select Clientis the best way to figure out what you and your team should be selecting for every ranked match you play. The client tracks in real time who is on your team and pulls their recent history for each lane and champion to help you quickly and easily choose the right team comp.

CLG College- Ever wished you could attend Chauschool? Well this is your chance. Counter Logic College is our new series which will be focused directly on helping you, the player, improve your League of Legends game. Each month, CLG will request submissions of replays from the community to be reviewed by our players. Every CLG player will then select a replay according to their role, and produce a video reviewing you, the student. Your strengths, weaknesses, what you should focus on improving in the future, and even a final grade will all be detailed during evey class. These videos will then be posted to AzubuTV for all to watch and learn from together.

Edit - ELOphant is cool enough since you can check your skins. Here'smine.

Definitely a good guide, cheers! Been playing practically all day, setup the small lcd near me for the Masters.... girlfriend is kinda concerned....

So far, I like Nida a ton - that spear is beast and seems to piss people off. Almost level 15 now... want to hit 20 before Monday!

What is everyones thoughts on Pantheon? Almost have enough points, and his skillset looks interesting.

Don't buy champions with your IP. Save all that IP for runes. Just keep grinding your levels. It really will work out in the long run.

Panth is a lot of fun, but you really should save your IP for runes. Once you hit 20 and start buying your tier3 runes you should get 3-4 full pages before looking into champions. One generic mage page(I usually run magic pen reds, armor yellows, magic resist blues, and flat ability power quints), one generic AD page(attack damage red, armor yellow, mr blue) and a support page (armor red, gold per 5 yellow, mr blue, gold per 5 quint), and a tanky jungler page(attack speed/magic pen/attack damage reds depending on your favorite jungler, armor yellows, mr blues, flat health quints).

Those 4 pages gave me plenty of time to grind games with whatever role I was put into and unlock champions. Now I have all the champions unlocked and I am working on getting finishing out my runepages(I think I have 16 now?)

Completely unrelated but this whole 5LP per win in silver1 is annoying as fuck.

I have been lucky enough to string together quite a few wins in Silver I. I seem to be going up about 20 points a game, at least. I'm really trying to get a promotion series before I go to bed.

Their first 2 bans were so spot on to target SV which is the best thing you can do against curse. They then ended up banning brand 3rd apparently having no clue what else to ban (i would have gone thresh which curse then immediately first picked but maybe thats part of the strategy). TSM picked MF immediately to get it away from cop. The game was almost over right there imo.
Picking MF + Nasus was the game ender right there (since Saint also jungles Nasus) so both the MF/Nasus pick up were huge. Also as an aside, the reason Dyrus chose brand as a joke was because curses icon is that flame.. so banning brand was a bit of a symbolism

God damn, how many hundreds of dollars have y'all dropped on this game? Haha. I felt guilty buying the starter pack, but it was more than worth it being able to try new champs. Morganna, Nasus, and Teemo have kept me happy all day.

I've played for over 3 years as my primary game, so It's become a money sink. I like shinies, I guess.
