Holy shit, I am really hating players in this game ATM.
Yep this game is a huge test of patience for sure. I almost never duo queue, I have nearly 1500 ranked games played and feel like im the most cursed player in history. As soon as I get a nice winning streak & playing good, some shit happens that spirals out of control and I end up losing 3+ in a row, get demoted, etc etc. Annoying! BUT, I've come to terms with the bullshit and will not rest until I finally get to gold.

Just so you know, almost every single game has duos, and normally both teams have a duo (but sometimes only 1 team will have a duo).. I don't think I've ever seen a game recently where there was never a duo on either side. To check who the duos are go here:www.lolnexus.com(you have to wait to search for your name after the game launches from champ select).

I also rarely ever support, too, and I know that exacerbates the problem, but everyone does it so idgaf. Teams are just shit at Bronze/Silver, the skill levels vary so wildly. At least at higher levels you can expect players to have a game sense, but at lower elos there are absolute noobs who don't know anything.

Everyone has to experience the same shit, but I feel like I get a higher frequency of the shit than most, some of these examples will sound basic and common but I seriously encounter this shit everytime I play:

  • The Disconnects/Afks are the worst. They always seem to strike during the worst games, like promotions, or being 1 game away from entering a promotion series, etc.
  • Trolls are not so bad, at least they are playing the game.
  • Duos are in every game but its the Silver I with Bronze IVs that fuck you up so much. You never know what you're going to get. These duos ruin games. Its the duos that announce themselves that are the worst. The duos that never make a peep are usually great.
  • Refusing to listen: So many games lost from players with egos that refuse to listen to the team. This pisses me off the most. Just had a game where our team would constantly have the best initiations but had a Ryze on our team that not only fed early, but would never be with the team during the initiations. We constantly told him to be with the team, we'd follow him, we would wait for him, as soon as a fight breaks out he's either just b'd or went to another lane to farm. So annoying. These players are what kill games, the carries that only ever want to farm. It happens too much at lower elo.
  • Refusing to focus objectives/pushing. Players lack game sense and have their priorities mixed up at lower elo. Too much emphasis on kills and not enough on CS'ing & Objectives.
  • The "brand-new" players to ranked will fuck you. I have ~750 wins and I was recently paired with a player who had 5... yes.. FIVE... wins in ranked. He went ADC and didn't know anything. It was essentially a 4v5. Riot was supposed to make it so you are matched with players of similar win amounts. Normally I am matched with players that have lots of wins (50+ ranked wins normally is the lowest). But somehow this 1 game, on my final promotion game (was 1-1 in series), I get this 5-win player that goes ADC ezreal and starts Homeguard Boots--> Vamp Scepter --> GA --> Sells GA @ 30 mins and buys BF Sword --> Game over.

Solo-Q is really a crap-shoot. A good player can certainly carry - to an extent - but there is some luck involved for sure. I can go on a 10 game win streak than all of a sudden I'll get a 4v5 game, a troll game, some feeders, and even a couple bad games where I just do everything wrong, and there I am on a 5 game+ lose streak.

I use to be Silver I with 85 LP months ago and was 20 games above .500. Now I am Silver III and 8 games above .500. I had something like a 14 game losing streak that took me from Silver I to Silver V. (The 14 games were spread across like 3 days or something, not all in 1 sitting). Since that clusterfuck of a streak I've been cursed to bounce around Silver for months now.

Everyone has bad games, I am not exempt by any means. I had some horrible games yesterday going 0-8-0 and 0-5-0 which is VERY uncharacteristic for me, I haven't had a 0 KDA in a long ass time and somehow I had 2 games like that in 1 day. I had turned it around and ended up carrying my next 2 games but that shit annoys the fuck out me. Both of the 0 KDA games my teams were DESTROYED in every lane, nobody could win anything. Most of my deaths came later vs fed champs, but I certainly didn't help matters since I obviously lost my lane, too. I actually went Malphite in 1 of the games intending to be a Tank, so I farmed and got tanky, didn't have damage, which is why I had 0 kills, but my team had no damage either, so we were useless. Going tank is almost as bad as supporting. Next game I went Tryndamere and fucked up everybody & split pushed for days. I will seldomly support or tank because when I feel utterly helpless it makes me never want to do it again. Hyper-carries all the way. I seem to fuck myself everytime I try to help the team, which starts the endless spiral. Then the game after I'll, of course, get the AFK or DC or feeder even though I'm 14-3-7 or some shit. I can't even count how many games I get super fed and the team throws it away by not pushing, not grouping, or just being so passive that the enemy team finally outscales my team. I have 2 losses with Kha Zix recently where this exact thing happened. I got like 12 kills 1 game and 14 kills another game but my team was just dying left-and-right. SIGH.

One day I'll reach the promised land.

The biggest issue I have with this game is the thought by people that only the support wards. If everyone took initiative and warded their own lane then they could survive 99% of thebganks from the jungle. But people have this crazy thought that one player on the team has to ward for everyone
Ya, I can't recall the name of the video but it was posted here. The dude was tongue in cheek saying "only support shouldEVERbuy wards".

If you are going to play ranked then you need to learn to mute other stupid players or your gameplay will take a nosedive.

And yes, AFK'ers are the worst. Honestly the worst form of life scum. There are actually people who join the game and SIT at fountain all game and just buy a few items to prevent leavebuster from flagging them. I mean why don't you fucking just play the game at that point instead of wasting 20 minutes of every player's lives? These are people that are assholes that find it fun to ruin the game for others. Seriously, they should be perma-banned the first time they do this.

I like him aram for the most part and I've played some games as Viktor support and it almost works? Depending on the match up you can trade damage with his Q pretty well and his Gravity Field is very very good but the rest of him is bleh. Ever since they added Kha'Zix I've thought that they should revamp Viktor to use the exact same system for his upgrades.

And trying to use his laser sucks. It is one of the most effort for least reward skillshots in the game. I hate the thing.
I think victor support could work if they gave his snare field the augmented range by default. I have actually run with the field augment and it worked pretty well the extra range on it makes it WAY easier to snare/stun groups downside is the augment itself is crappy statwise compared to the death ray one.

Yup his passive is pretty much the best of those types of passives. Zacs is probably the worst and annivia is pretty middle ground aatrox lets him get back up fast cannot be killed while its happening and if somebody is stupid enough to get in melee range when he is in that state he will BLOW YOU UP and eat your health and all the sudden he is now full health weee.

Ya I suppose that is what I was hinting at wording incorrectly myself about Hotshot's comments. It is not mechanically demanding to jungle but the rest of the shit involved is pretty demanding. I was soo happy to see Dlift with Xpecial for the all star...they were dominating and I think should have won but they just slipped up at the end there.

Honestly to me their words are never usually the issue. The words tied with actions are the issue.

Refusal to allow another person to hold a lane and then they lose it hardcore. Then blame another person. If you even try to offerCONSTRUCTIVE(bolded for emphasis lawl) criticism they usually fall back onto a strawman like "STFU you are a shit support" (while my lane as a whole is a better KDA than them).

I keep in-game strictly civil, I have gotten one too many language warnings in the past season 1 and 2. If a person refuses to listen, onto mute they go. I try not to mute too much for the reason of teamwork and if you start telling people that are getting goaded into attacking them to mute them then the game is lost.

About the AFK thing, I think there should be a smart feature that looks at score, duration of game, duration of AFK and current game timeline (when deaths happened) and then combines that system with a system that looks at surrender attempts. I know some games can have turnarounds but if 3 people want off the ride and 2 people are being trolls by deadlocking surrender after surrender (constant happening in a duo queue situation) then I don't fault a person for AFKing. AFKing at the beginning, if they are having client issues the client should be able to report back to the server that the person is having issues.

The game needs a few things:

Champion select reporting
out of game Chat Log
Lobby Ping / net health report
Pre-game error check (I don't know if this is possible but maybe have the game run once in the background to ensure the client can actually enter a game successfully)

Preferably make it so that if a person is being a pre-game douchebag that if enough people report him that the lobby is remade and they are given a warning for a reason code ("Hay, we noticed that you recently were in a lobby and were displaying some poor sportsmanship. please remember to play well with others. Signed, your moral compass"). So many of the "mid or feed" or "huehuehue" trolls could be solved by doing this. Along those lines, give people the tools to UNDERSTAND that they may be a negative force on their team through 10 second pings or client crashing. Maybe a pop-up that says:

"You are about to queue with unusually high ping, this can negatively affect your performance. Are you sure you would like to queue?"

I gotta stop writing blocks of text.

Yea me too, lol. Won a game, and as I said I'm the most cursed player in League, I get to 99 LP... play next game and a duo trolls us, 1 of them feeds, the other picks a malphite support vs cait/sona. Easy loss. Go me

That's a low silver/bronze mentality. The higher you rise the more wards you see in my experience.
Sadly this is true, the warding rate and philosophy behind it is terrible at lower levels. It tends to be popular among the lower elo brackets that since the support wards, they should be the ones warding EVERYTHING (regardless of if you're winning or losing, have no map control, etc..) Baron isn't warded? WTF SUPPORT why isn't it warded?! - meanwhile your mid and bot are completely gone, they're warding your jungle, no one is helping to escort you when you go to ward. It's pretty miserable type of stuff. Higher up it becomes more common to grab at least one ward whenever you back, to ward instead of face checking bushes in pursuit of people and so on. Best advice I can really give is to not be too daunted by it, if the retards are getting to you take a break and stop playing because it will probably linger into the next game with you feeling stressed/negative. Also try to politely ask other people to help you ward if they can afford to, if you don't tip toe around certain suggestions people will instantly get offended and it can actually just lead to them throwing/arguing and playing worse.

As an aside, I hate playing Janna without a good initiator in Normals. I have a great time laning with my friend who is an ADC because we can communicate with each other. But I was playing a game where the "tank" never initiated. Fuck you. I spent like 20 minutes of just clicking around mid lane while the tank was trying to decide if the water was too cold or not. God damn.

Of course, Janna is fucking great when you're playing with at least a good ADC and tank/jungler/mid. It's fun to help control the battle field that way. But when your team is shit, the fact you do no damage and your control is not really taken advantage of, Janna becomes useless and boring to play.
We discussed this last night; support making a transition to AP in the mid-game of a losing game is just not feasible for a handful of factors:

1) Your team is losing fights, the enemy team has the momentum. This is typically when lower skilled games are inclined to turtle up (or go get caught in their unwarded jungle to hasten the losing process; at higher skill levels your team might be able to find some counterplay with splitpushing but its unlikely you'll see this in your games). If farm pushes close enough to your base for it to be safely farmed, then why isn't your ADC farming it as opposed to a Janna with sightstone, philo, and boots 2?

2) Semi-related to 1, if your bruisers/initiaters are mouthbreathers who lost their lane and don't know how to initiate, its unlikely that they'll know how to peel for the carries either. So, your role is to stay 5 feet away from your ADC and keep him alive as long as possible. You can't go roaming around clearing farm (even if you could, the carries should take it since they'll have a much higher chance of putting bodies on the floor).

3) AP carries function by incredible burst damage. You'll have no where near enough burst damage to 100-0 someone so you really aren't fulfilling a role here whatsover... even an underfarmed ADC is going to outdamage a support-trying-to-be-AP.

Support is not unique in feeling frustrated with a losing team. The jungle/bruiser can be as equally pissed off when it 30minutes and the ADC has 100 CS ensuring every teamfight is a loss due to no team DPS. ADC/support can be pissed off because the bruiser isn't peeling or initiates poorly or not at all. Not every game is winnable, compare the difference between a player winning 50 percent of his games (stagnate on the ladder) to 55 percent (favorable upward trend)... just winning a fraction more of the games is all it takes to rise. That still leaves 45 percent of games where for a myriad of reasons, you will lose. Instead of focusing on ways to save a sinking ship in mid-game as Support, think of ways in which you could have dominated your own lane harder.

1) Download lolreplay, review your games.
2) Make note of every time you could have secured a kill for the ADC but you didn't.
2) Make note of every time you died (thus feeding the enemy lane and starting their snowball).
3) Make note of every time you forgot to ward or forgot to warn your ADC that wards aren't up...

Support is the most relevant in the early game -- unless there is a dramatic skill gap between the ADC/Support, it going to be the support making all the hotshot plays and ensuring bottom lane domination. Transitioning from shitting on bot lane as support and then supporting the TEAM during mid-game is a paradigm shift.

1) You're running timers for objectives: herding your cat teammates into dragon area 30 seconds prior and clearing out enemy wards so you can contest successfully, reminding your jungle that their blue is about to be up and you saw the enemy jungle in that area, sneaking wards into their jungle when you feel like you can do it safely... You're dropping wards as much as you can to give your team every advantage into not throwing the game by being retarded.

edit: Wanted to elaborate on this a little further. Team morale is a HUGE factor in actually winning. Compare/contrast how it looks when the team has zero vision and pings the dragon icon on the map and says ("dragon up, they probably doing it") as opposed to when the support got some warding down there ahead of time and says ("dragon up in 30s and they have no wards"). Winning a mid-game objective fight is positive morale; this is arguably more important than the global gold. Even better if you pinked it ahead of time and THEIR team is the one doing the "oh I just saw dragon spawn lets go face-check it then rage when I get killed and blame support for not warding dragon". These are things that any player on the team can do but the support is usually the best to worry about the strategic factors since they aren't under pressure to CS perfectly.

2) You're watching the lane dynamics on all three lanes and telling your ADC he needs to disengage from the stupid mid-game pokefest at mid and go farm bot really fast.

3) You're watching the items that the other team is building. Oh shit, they have a decently farmed J4 and Lee Sin both rocking 100+ armor? You're telling your ADC he needs to rush Last Whisper and reminding (politely) to your team that they are going to gangbang the carries if the team doesn't help peel them off. Oh shit, they have two decently farmed auto-attackers... is your jungle going Frozen Heart because if not you are rushing the fuck to that item.

A good support is far more than "spam spells on cooldown in teamfight and die"; there are always ways to improve your game and increase the odds of your team winning. And as I pointed out earlier, just winning a few more percentage points of your games is the difference between a player stuck in a division and a player who is climbing the ladder. If you want to carry the game via killing people with your own AP, then you need to play mid and not support.

In the past 7 days I'm 25-8 (76% win rate) with Aatrox & Tryndamere combined (18-6 (75%) with Aatrox / 7-2 (78%) with Tryndamere). I use to suck dick with Tryndamere but have started dominating so hard with these 2 champs - both utilizing equivalent playstyles. Going to keep rocking it until the trend changes. Got back to Silver II last night, was Silver IV a few days ago. Need to keep going up!

Edit:
All good points for good team play and you're right about supports not being able to change builds, but in Normals @ level ~15 or whatever Draegen is at, he probably should be building damage anyways. Nobody at that level knows how to use a support properly lol. He doesnt have runes and he has minimal masteries, so no point going support imo. You can't take advantage of all the things that help supports, like the gold generation runes/masteries & more.

Also, at lower elo, you really have to just throw most the advice out the window and be a carry. Otherwise it's all luck. Yesterday as Tryndamere my team started 12-21, I was 5-2 top lane. Team was terrible but once I got my core items I started roaming and just dominating. Every fight I would be last man standing with sometimes my support. We would ace the enemy because they couldn't deal with me and I would go for turrets/inhibs right after fights. I ended the game 16-5-10. We went from a 9 kill deficit to a victory simply because I was able to win my lane and carry.

I rarely warded & rarely talked with the team. However once I was fed I did help my team by buying oracles so I could clear out baron which I later solo'd.

The whole siren ordeal is a mess. Really bad press for girl gamers. That video was just too ridiculous. I think everyone could see this wouldn't last long. Best thing for girl gamers is to integrate into already established teams on their own merits, not create an all-female team.

I disagree completely, provided they actually compete. Let's not pretend that women LoL players don't comprise a significant minority.
I guess that is the crux of the argument, did they compete and did they compete on a professional level?

If not they were just 10 boobs on the internet conning money from people under the premise of "going pro". I understand that not ALL male teams that are skilled ever go pro but most of them also do not pull in pretty hardcore donations on stream under said premise.

I don't think the intent is to say that LoL players don't have a significant female base. I think what most people are facepalming over is that they made their team about their gender 1st and their skills 3rd or 5th. Where most pro gamer groups would rather hire a skilled player over making a distinction on gender.

INBE4 ANTI DISCRIMINATION LAWSUIT AND THE US TEAMS BASICALLY ALL BECOME FORCED TO BE SHITTY.
