Jayce getting dumpstered on the next PBE update. Accelerated Q is the same speed as normal Q, changing AD scaling to AP scaling on hammer Q, losing damage on W....list goes on.

In other news, Olaf changes finally coming too. Undertow goes back to non-decaying slow (FINALLY), but now it won't pass through walls/terrain. Trading arpen for armor/mr on his ult passive (which is lost on activate -_-) and getting some % increase in healing effects on his W, based on missing health.

I've played HoN for the majority of my MOBA career, some of my work friends want me to compare and contrast, so I've been playing some LoL. A lot of the mechanics are familiar to me, really just need to learn heros. Aatrox is my go to since he is so similar to Maliken, my question is what to do about late game tank heros that don't get eaten in 5 seconds from a Q->R->autoattack combo? I can't seem to find the equivalencies of Shroud, Shieldbreaker etc (admittedly haven't looked hard) just wondering if they exist, and what other good starting heros would be? I tried Katarina and she seems pretty boss.

IGN Niehoff if anyone wants to play.

Last whisper and Black cleaver are your tank busting items if you are ad. AP champs that specialize in tank killing pretty much get liandry's. Nice thing about lol unlike HoN/DoTa is that someone who builds all tank isn't going to be a world beater damage wise so as long as you can avoid their cc/disables you don't actually need to build strictly for busting them.

for starting champs do you mean OP/broken or learners? Because honestly no champ in league is complex mechanically compared to dota/HoN champs so you shouldn't have a problem picking them up at a basic level.

Shieldbreaker type items = youmu's ghostblade, last whisper, brutalizer, think there are a couple others (armor penetration).
Can't think of any stealthing items off the top of my head but there are a few that are activated movespeed boosts.

Edit:

Other thing that's a nice change is AP items so mages scale better as mages than they do in HoN.

Don't build ghostblade until you know what you're doing, and even then it's very rare. If enemy is stacking armor you get last whisper (unless you're Garen or a few other specifics), if stacking health you get blade of the ruined king.

Ok so if i'm going to pick 1 champ to stick with on ranked it's probably going to be gangplank. What's the general consensus on him? Can't get to high leagues/carry out of bronze? What runes would you swap on my first page for this? I personally think the runes work pretty well for him (altho I could swap the aspd for crit damage or more crit chance or something).

er, GP would definitely not be my pick, you want a snowball champ if you honestly think you are better then those around you. However if you plan on going with GP then you want to run AD quints, AD reds, defensive yellows and blues.

General build for carrying a game would be early sheen and vamp sceptre --- hydra --- Frostbourne Gauntlet --- LW/Infinity edge depending on enemy builds --- defensive item. Basically just split push and kill anyone that comes at you solo. Although GP isn't the best for it. But thats how you carry if you are above your bracket.

If GP isn't a viable option then what are some? Also don't want recommendations based on assumptions that I suck at the game or need a champ who is "easy" to play.

Jax, Rengar, Trynd, Udyr, Aeotrox, Zed, Jayce (getting a mighty nerf soon though), and teemo (i hate to be saying this) are all good pub stompy push my lane to the nexus types of champs.

What you're looking for when you are much better then everyone else in the game is a character that has push speed and once they get fed are almost impossible to 1v1 and in some cases 2v2. You ward up approaches to your lane as you push and make the enemy team decide between hunting you down or going after your team. If you stomped hard enough top and helped your mid as well then your team should be able to 4v5 under turrets or just straight up win fights because of your mid doing well also. Meanwhile you just keep pushing safely, kill anyone solo sent to stop you and run from multiples while your team (hopefully) takes more objectives.

Any AP heroes since those will be cheaper on rune costs i'd imagine due to me having mpen/ap runes already? That's part of the reason I was thinking GP and his parrrleys.

Edit: My (personal opinion here) best ap chars include annie, anivia, morganna, veigar, kassadin and a couple others are pretty close. I was liking lissandra before they nerfed her, haven't tried her since.

Even those shit players you rag on going 0/10 have games where they do that, which is why you are matched with them. Look up that feeders stats after one of those slaughters and I bet you'll see some games where they got fed and did the complete opposite. It all depends on if they got an early advantage or not in bronze. Players all think their champion is more OP then they are, especially AP/AD carries, and will put themselves in situation that they can only win if they are fed, like 3v1s.. because they only remember the time they WERE super fed and it worked. Help them get ahead and their dumb mistakes start looking like great plays.
100x this. I played a game where I carried an ashe and our team steamrolled the other team with ashe going something like 2x/4/1x. I was on a string of "unlucky" games before that and looking for an adc to que with so I added him. Played a few more games and realized guy wasn't very good at all, he just got fed as fuck that first game. A couple of games later I'm mid and he gets behind bot and starts raging like a 12 year old so without a word I blocked him and removed him from my friend's list after that game.

That's why I never accept friend requests after games any more. Every time I try it, it goes down like that. The one time it worked out was when I was playing with a few guys who had a few other guys and invited me to join them for some 5mans (this was way back before ranked/etc tho).

I always wondered, I assume the way that combo would work is that BC would lower by 25% then LW would take off another 35% from the remaining. Armor pen is applied before hand though..so:

100 armor enemy

10 pene (90 remaining)
25% (67.5 remaining)
35% (43.875 remaining)

Would this be about right? or is pen applied after percentage?

Edit:

I guess I'm wrong

100 armor
25% - BC (75 rem)
35% - LW (48.75 rem)
10 - Runes (38.75 rem)

If you want an easy to play champ that is totally viable in ranked and rarely banned then I would suggest Ryze. GP isn't "bad" per se, but he isn't great either.

It doesn't matter which order BC and LW apply since they are multiplicative. The only thing that matters is that flat subtractive armor reductions are last.

Should I be buying runes or whatever at level 9? I heard you don't bother till you are max level? Such a long grind just to play a game, but so far Aatrox smashes.

Buy tier 1 runes, they cost so little that even making a few full pages of them won't set you behind at all for buying tier 3 at level 20. Just don't ever throw your IP away on tier 2, they are a trap.
