I played an Udyr game last night, my first. Decent champ, but my team was full of pussies. Every time I engaged they ran away. My second game was depressing, played Elise and for some reason I thought my AA's weren't going off either fast enough or stopping all together. It felt like my character was fighting in mud but I didn't have any lag.

Late game I wasn't doing any damage at all, but I was building tanky.

The Elise autoattack is annoying as fuck. Timings and animations are all part of the mechanics of a champion and is why you need to focus on a select few once you start taking it more serious, because the little stuff like just autoattacking can fuck you up. I played Ryze last night, my 3rd Ryze game ever I think... I sucked balls at last-hitting. I fed early but the team carried it long enough to where I scaled into late game and ended up doing ok eventually. Bain was watching my stream when I did a stupid teleport into enemy team at dragon, oops! It's annoying to lose when playing good, but it's fun to win when playing bad. lol.

Fantastic read; I read every page. SC2 Platinum player de-levels to Bronze and records his observations. Has many parallels with LoL Bronze players and some seemingly accurate speculation on what is really going on.
I never got into RTS games, so I wasn't aware of those terms in this blog, but that whole thing is sad.

I was Jungling so I wasn't worried about last hitting too much. I only have a handful of Elise games (4-5 maybe?) but for some reason she felt different last night. It's probably my lack of sleep. I should stop playing video games and sleep more now that my baby is sleeping more.

I probably won't though.

edit to add:
I played my first game where the opposing team 5 man invaded our jungle. This game turned into a 55 minute clusterfuck where our adc was twitch and he spent a large portion of the game split pushing and we had a Fiora carry the team with a Morgana support.

Sigh.

That was a shit article. High level player isastoundedthat low level players who lack his macro and his micro ability don't play well against him. PULITZER!

I tend to agree, I read for a while then just started skimming through... His findings are pretty obvious.

I skimmed the first few paragraphs of that article and can only conclude that it's some guy who is just trying to inflate his ego and get a few cheap laughs at players who are probably genuinely new to rts games and SC in general but I don't think it's really comparable to LoL bronze. It'd be more comparable to a plat/diamond/challenger player making a new account and wondering why people on "newbie island" (they still have that, right?) can't outplay him. SC2 bronze, at least the bronze games i've had, is mostly players who seem genuinely new to the game or even to RTS in general. You don't have to play 200 games to get in to SC2 ranked matches and i'd guess you won't find too many people in SC2 bronze leagues who have more than a handful of games played.

I've read almost the entire thing and I've found it great reading, despite (or maybe because?) I know nothing about SC2. This is the paragraph that caught my eye the most:

Out of 50 games, I won 28 of them. I won more than half of my games where not only was I doing the worst strategy possible, but after explaining in great detail how to beat that strategy. If this is not proof enough that something is terribly wrong in bronze, I don't know what is. Of the 22 games I lost, 3 players said they learned what attack move was from my message. 2 players were master leaguers and of course didn't need my message. The remaining players either said they already knew what attack move was or refused to respond. Of the 28 games I won, 4 people were either Spanish or Portuguese speaking and could not read the message. 3 more people admitted to believing I was trying to trick them with my message. Which leaves 21 people who are just bafflingly stupid or just outright ignored me.
This is pretty much what we've all been talking about in regards to bronze level players in LoL. They flatly refuse to take advice, and don't think they are playing badly. They'll just blame someone else (even if it's true and that player DID play even worse) and don't learn to improve.

I've got a 88/82 win/loss in normals, 96 wins in Dominion and 6/2 win/loss in ARAM and about 300 immy bot games. I'm kinda interested in playing ranked, just to see how deep that rabbit hole goes. I've been told I need to play a SHIT LOAD more normals before I set foot in Ranked, and I've been told to just get my placements over and done with ASAP. I'll sleep on it. Would anyone be interested to see a journey of a complete nooblet around here?

(PS: I have no experience with DOTA/DOTA2, and the 3 games of HoN I played shouldn't count as experience =D ).

Oh fuck all that "do X before you set foot in ranked" nonsense. Are you level 30? Do you own ten champions? Than you are good to go.

Comparing bronze on an RTS to bronze on a moba is just silly on every level. Are the ladders set up the same? Are there the same requirements to hit the ladder? Can you even make some kind of crazy stretch to connect the gameplay styles or claim that they require a similar skillset? No to all.

Did he worker rush every game in that article and that's why he was talking about it being the worst strategy possible? Any decent league player could play silly champs/builds and go 28/22 in newbie island games (ADC mages, carry soraka, etc) which is what bronze in SC2 is, or was when I was playing it, actually like.

On a league related note, i'm in my promo series to get back to bronze 2 today. After getting to bronze 3 again the other day I lost my first game but then went on a winning streak and didn't lose another one on my trip from 0 to 100 LP. Last game I did was as a leona support last night. Me and tristana abused the enemy trundle + ashe bottom. I ended the game 1/3/18 or so, tristana ended 18/0/4 or so. I got no love from anybody on my team except for tristana =(. Teemo and kassadin kept popping in to allchat to brag about tristana but never once said anything about me. All around it was an awesome lane bottom. Me and trist were on the same page the whole game just tearing it up. Ended up adding each other to friend list but I didn't have time to play out my promo games with her last night unfortunately.

Sorry, but the whole article is a joke. Doesn't matter how bad your "strategy" is, when you're from the top leagues of any game trying to play against the bottom of the barrel, of course it's going to be atrocious. These types of things come up in league all the time. Diamond 1 smurfing with AD annie and such, completely roflstomping everyone on his stream while being baffled as to how they are so bad.

Yes, he worker rushed every game in the 50 that he was talking about in the paragraph I quoted, and he started the match saying that he was, and how to beat it.

The previous 100-500 games before that he also worker rushed, unless he'd faced that particular player before and they shit talked him at the beginning of the game, then he'd ruthlessly crush them with a plat level game.

Yes, I think that the method behind the madness IS applicable. It's not the same fish, but it's fishing in the same pond.

It is not comparable because two bronze level SC2 players who go at each other will generally have an enjoyable game because they both make the same kinds of mistakes. The problem is in LoL there are 9 other people in a game that can go all toxic player on you. So how do you help prevent people from AFKing or just plain giving up? Lyte and his team have made good strides towards fixing things, though I disagree with their reasons for not using machine learning to auto-warn toxic players.

There was also a good point brought up at PAX East during the LoL panel where a parent pointed out that if someone is making fun of you you are taught to walk away, but in LoL you are punished for doing that. The counter argument was that LoL is a team sport and in other team sports you can't just walk at away, yet at the same time in other team sports you are generally not randomly assigned to a team with other people. I do agree with Lyte that the answer isn't in letting people walk away from a game but in something else. I just thought that the parent brought up some good food for thought.

Sixteen champs because they want a champ pool of ten after bans and they don't allow free week champs in ranked anymore.
Aww, I was hoping to try thresh out while he was free.

First promo series game down. Won. Was a rough one. I got baited in to some raging by my Alistar support while I was Tristana. We had a Vayne top who crushed their Darius up there and Lux did fairly well mid. I was doing terrible and semi mad so I just did the split pushing thing and pushed down a lot of towers despite dying a few times while doing it. I don't really mind getting behind early on Trist anyways because she turns in to a monster later on anyways even with terrible starts. Nobody on my team gave up or started doing stupid things other than the 30 seconds or so Alistar spent using his moves to steal cs from me when he started raging at me but then he just left our lane to go with the others so it was no biggie.
