It's abysmally slow even relative to their own past. Patches have steadily shrunk in size as the game goes on, they seem completely unwilling to make small quality of life changes to abandoned or otherwise uselesschampions, replays have been missing for literally years, the brush update continues to be a huge step backwards, colossal server problems abound in europe (and are cropping up in NA now). It goes on like this for a while.

I'm not saying the sky is falling or anything, but cracks are starting to show for sure. Riot has north of 1000 employees and they can't manage more than a 6 week minor balance patch? Come the fuck on, that is pathetic by any standards. Dota2 runs circles around them in every department with a fraction of the staff, and it's only getting worse.

All you are doing is ask for 1 thing to change which will lead to something else being used 100% of the time... sure, maybe Doran Shield is pushing out a selection of supports, but once it is changed you'll then have a brand new selection of 2-3 supports. There is no such thing as 100% balanced in this game. If leona/thresh are a problem, ban them. Riot is big now. Big companies move slowly. They need to consider the impact changes will make to the LCS as well now. They can't keep having the rules change every week. If the game isnt fun, dont play it. The crying here has been unbearable.

That's fucking horseshit. If you can't tell the difference between Doran's Shield literally warping the entire bot lane meta (exactly what the head of the live team said) and some options being more more popular than others I don't know what to tell you.

And I'm pretty sure I want more than one change. Where is my random ability draft mode?

Badly organized companies move slowly. It just so happens that being bigger gives a company more ways to be badly organized. I've worked at one of the largest software companies in the world and despite it being huge we moved incredibly fast and could push software changes rapidly in an environment where if systems go down the company is losing millions.

Now is Riot badly organized? I don't quite know but I suspect a lot of their designers' attention is not focused on League of Legends.

Go play DOTA2 then.
C'mon, Riot isn't going to allow their game to lack features their competitor's have.

I don't quite know but I suspect a lot of their designers' attention is not focused on League of Legends.
That is the most likely situation. League is making gigantic piles of cash and is insanely popular so just slow it down and stay the course while we work on The Next Big Thing.

its only fun for maybe three games anyway before you realize how shitty it is, see animations bug all over the place when combod with abilities your champion can't normally perform and you win/lose again because someone picked an extremly powerful combo and carries the team to victory without anyone being able to do something about it

Why wouldn't you think that would happen, Ability draft isn't a serious mode anymore than Aram. It would be the same thing in league - its really fun to play with friends who aren't all that competitive or good at dota. It also exposes you to a huge variety of skills - people learn the strength of abilities based on silly combos. And sure they didn't add ranged attacks for melee heroes chosing ranged orbs. But neither would league - they aren't going to animate every skill combination - that would be silly. Especially when you're talking 400 skills per champ potentially?

I can see the enjoyment of dueling in league if you love top lane/midlane - jungle. But if you love support, you should try dota, there are all kind of items to enable supports participate in the flow of all lanes from the start and games with >1 kill a minute are commonplace in dota. Its the main knock I have against league and why I personally don't play more. I find the support role to be really enjoyable, but supporting in league is terrible by comparison to what it could and should be. This Doran's shield issue is just another in a long line that makes the support role the redheaded stepchild of the 5 positions.

Not having much luck so far this season. I've personally done decent in most games (although still A LOT room for improvement), but these teams... I don't really mind that people lose lane, or do badly. I'm just so sick of people arguing all game long. One bad play by someone and it's 25+ minutes of people nagging or insulting each other while I try to get them to shut up and refocus. Even though they lost their lane, the game is still not completely lost. However, they decide to spend more time arguing than playing and ensure we lose. Very frustrating.

I've said it many times before, but Solo Queue is 50% getting along with 4 other random people for 20+ minutes. Nearly every game seems to be decided by which team turns on each other first, and snowballs into defeat.

I'm 30-31 so far this season. In Plat 2. I pretty much suck with all my champs I was good at with last season. My Vi is 4-3, my elise is 2-3, my fiddle is 2-7, my shaco is 1-3. Then I have fucking blitzcrank and I'm 14-2.

Fuck my life. Maybe I'll just main support this season lol. To be honest I feel I'm not doing that poor when I play jungle but dear lord I seem to can't win as well this season playing jungle for some reason. Although, I haven't been playing as much recently, maybe a few games every couple days but still, it's getting frustrating. Maybe I just need to go back to mid and play TF/Leblanc or go Top and try my Vlad out again. /shrug. Oh wells.

Aaaaaand just got demoted from Gold 1 to Gold 2. I've done pretty good in every game, even losing ones. I just don't know what the fuck I can do any different when my team refuses to win.

Guess there's only so much you can do.

Holy shit I might only have to wait until March! Just freakish how closely I'm aligned with the live team right now.

[Planned 4.3] Itemization Changes (Boots / Duo Lane Gold Items / DShield / Ruby Crystal)

Like most of it but the changes to Spellthief are too much. Frost Queen just needs to not be trash. Spellthief and Frostfang are fine. Before the meta shifted over to Doran's Shield tanks bot lane I was already making myself a huge problem with support Ziggs and if the wind changes direction and people slide back over to traditional supports or mages the lane could end up a mess. I'm hoping my estimate of Spellthief is wrong or it gets toned back with only a buff on Frost Queen. I'm not sure why they are taking the AP off it when they were adding different kinds of AP based support scaling to the traditional supports at the start of the season.

i wouldn't say dorans shield is broken, but it's pretty powerful in the bot lane meta right now. going annie w/ full AD runes, 1 jesus crit, and win lane hard. falls off mid outside of hitting aoe stuns, picks up late when you have enough AP to become the target.

s4, support is fun. hope they don't kill it back to afk farm fest it's been in the past.

That is some serious Teemo nerf there. I wouldn't mind if they shifted a little bit of something to his E then, like make it actually count as a spell proc instead of the weird pseudo-nothing it is now. And yea love the Ryze buff. Maybe Veigar next? (a man can dream)
