Want me to spectate you sometime Drae? I'll give actual game relevant advice.
Hey Vimeseh, I'll take up your offer. I haven't played the game since late S3, and I realize I suck so bad now. My IGN is Lythical.

Just FYI, if you see me place ADC just go do your own thing. I don't play ADC unless no one else plays the role... and I hate playing ADC.

Will do. I main jungle/top with a smattering of support if I have to. So I'm probably not the best to go to for specific midlane or ADC advice, but I can still give generalist tips in those roles. Honestly most people that don't climb MMR well have it happen to them for one of two reasons.

1.) They aren't mechanically skilled enough. Which as I said earlier isn't something you can be helped with really.

2.) They make generalist errors specific to their role. Like improper builds depending on enemy team comp, face checking bushes that are most likely not safe, not rotating properly to get/defend objectives. Once people get things like that down they tend to climb regardless of role because at that point it is just learning to do the job you have on the team.

for those who would like some spectating it is easier currently if you can stream via twitch or have some lolreplay recordings. That way those who want to help aren't having to reconnect ever five to ten minutes or using offsite match ID grabbers to get a more stable platform. I can do either though, since I'm usually bored late at night and don't sleep often.

Where's a good place to go get a better understanding of this game? I've played a handful of times but had no idea how to make a build, what items to buy, when to buy wards and how to use them effectively, and what the dragons and those other mobs were about in a map. Also what's good advice for a new player as far as a champ and playstyle?

I'll post some replays of some support game twitch highlights for you to critique a bit late this week if you don't mind (I feel like my game needs to be improved most in this role). I feel like I can offer some pointers for mid lane if the need isn't filled by a higher ranked person.

Really, just watch pro or high mmr streamers on Twitch for specifics on the roles you like and build paths. Beyond that you can go to bro builds for builds and skilling advice. The biggest thing is just putting time in to the game because a lot of things are situational and until you have a good understanding of the champs and overall game flow a lot of the information is just going to be white noise. Things like knowing when you need to ward your lane against a jungle gank is specific to the type of champ you are facing. When you can back is the same, and what to buy. Just a lot of situational things.

I spectated a couple of your games Oblio and you're pretty much where you deserve to be if we're being brutally honest here.

As far as some helpful tips:

1.) You farm pretty poorly and tend to play more farm oriented jungles like Wu and Udyr. If you are going to play farm oriented champs then you need to actually kick ass at farming to stay relevant. Wandering around the jung and sitting in a bush for 1 min doesn't do that.

2.) Part of a jungles job especially if you aren't playing gank style jungles is to keep up good ward control. You really don't. You should have your pink ward out pretty much from the first back. Should have one or two defensive wards, and then a deep ward to try and keep tabs on the enemy jungle. This is especially important because you don't play gank heavy jungles so you need to keep your lanes safe somehow.

3.) A couple times just in the four games I specced where you would be in the farthest lane from Dragon 15 seconds before it spawns which meant free dragons for the enemy team.

4.) Overestimating your own strength a lot and getting your team in to bad fights where you get blown up fast and they get their asses kicked.

5.) Going along with four, your build paths are pretty erratic and not complimentary to the game you're currently in. Not getting that flare stacked by 17 mins as udyr? Then you need to finish Lizard elder instead, sell off the razor and go from there. Should never be building three offensive items as a tanky initiator jungle before you've finished your first defensive, especially if you are the teams tank. The last is specific to a Wu game where you had a decent score but went Lizard/LW/Black cleaver before finishing anything defensive and got owned on your initiates. I think you still won that game, but made it much harder and honestly you weren't the reason your team won. Went against a double ap comp and your first defensive item was a Randuins in another game.

6.) Your mechanics are pretty shoddy. However their isn't much that someone can do to teach you those. Its mostly a mixture of natural skill and repetition on champs.
LOL crack one joke and everyone is up in arms.

I do appreciate the advice CV:

1. As far as farm goes on Udyr, I consistently get Feral Flare in under 14 mins while making an appearance in every lane. I don't always get a gank but sometimes if the timing is right I do, I at least make an appearance though which appeases the Laners in my elo who think it is the Junglers Job to win their lane.

2. I try to ward pink in river on first back but I admit I don't always get it done.

3. You are probably right, bad habits from dragon control from me and my team in my elo. I will say I get more Dragons then not.

4. I think I actually overestimate my team, I assume they will targets the right targets and follow me. Either way your point is taken.

5. My build as Udy is almost always. Merc Boots to Frozen Heart to Visage then Tri and GA or perhaps a Randuins. The game where you speak of me not having Feral at 17 mins is an irregularity. Sometimes shot doe snot go my way for a number of reasons or bad gank choices by me, or staying in jung to low and getting caught.

6. Mechanics - yeah no excuses there. Learning as I go, this is my first MOBA and started Last December. I have a lot of catching up to do.

I do appreciate the advice and I hope my comments do not come off as excuses or dismissive. I will take everything to heart and try to get better, I do appreciate you spending your time watching. I was not aware you did other than that one game that booted you.

Again, regarding Draegan I was just going for laughs sorry I hit a nerve. Look at my post history I am not an instigator or one to put others down, simply took a shot at some comedy and missed.

I want to play LoL bad but got shitloads of RL stuff to do atm. Haven't played a game since last week. I left off in my Gold IV promos and feel like I'll be playing like Bronze V by the time I play again lol..

I kinda just want season to end so I can start fresh again!

I was gonna add on to CV's post but replying here illustrates it better: Items are frequently where fights are won and lost. Won and lost fights win and lose games. People vastly, VASTLY under-think items and builds in this game. For example, having an "almost always" build on any champion is a bad practice. You should never build a Frozen Heart if they only have their ADC as a source of Physical damage. Visage isn't worth it if they have a heavy AD team (and on Udyr, a Banshee's will almost always help you out more than a SV will, this coming from someone who buys SV at any excuse). Feral Udyr is a fine build but if you care about climbing ranks you need to look for games where Golem or Elder will do you more favors.

A lot of people get caught up wanting to get more offense than they need, forgetting that if you're dead or hiding in the back line or running away at low health, you are doing 0 damage. There's 9 other champions and players in the game, the players with their own skill levels, the champs with their own abilities, and their own item builds. Predicting or reacting properly to those features can make a huge difference, especially if all other things are equal.

This is unrelated to the importance of items, but if anyone cares about climbing, don't ever analyse your teammates. Don't respond to their comments. Don't say anything other than timers, warnings, useful information, or to say "gj" or something of the like. Blaming someone or saying something negative will not have a positive impact on your game or rank out of 1000 games, but not getting distracted and not bringing other people down will.

If you are poor, champs. If you don't mind dropping $20 on a few champs from time to time when they are on sale, Runes.

as long as you have the necessary runes for whatever champs you play, go champ over runes... imo.

oh... and as Draegan said, you can't buy runes with $$ so if you are missing some commonly "good" runes then get the runes

@Amzin: See I was always under the impression that CDR with Feral was what you wanted on Udyr. So after Heart and Visage and Masteries I have 35% which enables me to spam between stances as needed. As far as offense goes Trforce is my 5th item, I am pretty much defense with the except of Feral. I used to build Sunfire but I split push so often that it screws me under turret.

Next Udyr game I will look to change my build and be more reactive, I appreciate the tips.

Oh and to further prove I was joking with you Draegan ... didn't I ask you to duo a ranked with me?

I usually play Udyr when I am forced to jungle and normally I do the Feral route, but unless my team is dominating, I won't do more than feral for my offensive items. Late game Udyr should be 5 Defensive items + Feral. Mid game I might buy a BotRK but normally I sell it if the game goes late (40+ mins). Udyr needs tenacity, tanky, and tons of feral stacks... that's about it. Trinity is just being greedy imo, at least with BotRK you can solo Baron eventually.

Godyr Udyr build path is basically this:

1st Item Feral Flare + Mercs

2nd item is:
If you and your lanes are ahead: Triforce
If you are even and you are team fighting: Randuins
If you are even and you need to split push: Sunfire or Frozen Heart
If you are against almost all AP: Banshees

3rd Item is:
Armor if you went TForce (probably FH or Randuins)
Banshee if you went Armor

5th and 6th Item are dependent on how the game is going and what you need to do.

Commander do I have you added? I wouldn't mind you specing me a couple of games to see if you see anything glaring. I think I have a good idea but wouldn't mind if you are bored. My IGN is same as my forum name.
