That game sucks now too.Right? They should have copied WoW's PVP - its soooo good!
I think I'm just allergic to the trashy UIs in these asian games.

I didnt think it started giving a hint of identity as a game until around 18. Like you said, everything in the beginning is just.. "blah" for lack of a better term. Then by 42, combat felt glorious and you start to realize just how little of the world you've explored. When you realize zones just keep going and going and going and at lvl 50 you've only cleared like 3-4 portions of continents? Massive game, well polished, beautiful game. Never mind some of the awesome/flashy dungeons that put Diablo to shame or the fact that they literally robbed LittleBigPlanet from PS to make an entire area lol.I can see both points of view on this game. I can see why some love it, and can understand some disliking it.
For me, the viewpoint has really been synonymous with arpg. Which usually meant very fast movement speed and AoE as fast as possible. Here I am having to adjust to the slower movement. Also not used to having 8 skills + other hotkeys in arpg either.
I really like the diversity of the classes. Combat looks incredible. On the flip side, the first few zones dont showcase much of that at all, as it is mostly walking and talking and killing maybe 1 or 2 packs of mobs and repeat...so I can see those peoples point of view as well.
It goes by quickly. They made it boring so you would buy the skip for your alts. It's certainly possible that its only the beginning of the game that sucks, but that's a hard thing to get past.
A lot of classes play COMPLETELY different once they get their tripods, engravings, etc. I'm not "defending" that approach to gameplay, but nevertheless it's hard to judge a LOT about the game in the earliest part of it.It's certainly possible that its only the beginning of the game that sucks, but that's a hard thing to get past.
Yeah, that thought of, "OMG ARPG GO FAAAAAST!!!!" is really what threw me off initially about a LOT of the combat. I approached it and tried to play it like it was PoE, D3, Grim Dawn, etc. While the game does have faster paced combat than your typical MMO, it is still an MMO at its heart. Thus, if you take a "slower", more measured approach to combat it really starts to "click". At least, that's what it took for me. I was approaching it WAY too quickly at first and flopping around like an idiot, missing most skills, etc.For me, the viewpoint has really been synonymous with arpg. I'm so sick of the MSQ type leveling. It needs to die in a fire already. I much prefer to just do my own thing. Just plop me in the world, and let me get to it on how I want to do it. It's why I still feel EQ's leveling grind is the best. Just speed up the leveling curve, and it would be perfect.
I skipped the launch, got enough of a glimpse of the game in the open beta. Definitely a beautiful game but the msq just drags on and on... The idea of leveling multiple alts to hit upper gear tiers faster than an eternity is just not for me when the leveling is just god awful.
I skipped 20 pages of posts so forgive me if this is redundant at this point.
The island personal instance is what cratered my enjoyment of the game, i got shit for comparing it to a shitty mobile game but it just feels so fucking out of place and micro managing covenant adventures in lost ark for mats is not my thing.
All this leads me to either playing and being sub par at end game or not having fun. A real shame.
Just want to note that this was addressed within the game. You literally need to complete the MSQ up to Vern once. You then receive two additional boosts (for doing nothing) to lvl 50 with shusire completed. The MSQ has several high points but I agree, it's a drag. If the fear of needing to do it multiple times due to alts is the reason why you decided not to play; well, they resolved this for you.

BTW, After all of my bitching, the launch turned out to be one of the best first days in recent memory. I am having trouble right now thinking of a better one. Even seeing long 7000+ queues on regulos in the NA CST evening prime time, my kids got in within 30 min of queuing up. I was on all day without any issues, even sleeping for long periods of time due to being ill, was not kicked off, etc.I skipped the launch, got enough of a glimpse of the game in the open beta.
