Care to share how you arrived at these numbers?
The best way I can think of doing this experiment is to see exactly how far the distance is when a boat will go completely out of view of a person viewing it from shore. If it's out of view and is said therefor to be underneath the curvature of the Earth, then a wire attached to it that was anchored from said shore, should absolutely be under water or blatantly angled towards it depending on how high the wire from the shore was set. If the Earth is flat, then the water should remain virtually parallel to the water at all times regardless of distance.

Simple conversions. 24000 mile circumference, 360 degrees of total arc. The amount of tension needed to keep a wire/string taut for 10 miles vs the weight of it at the center would require some really impressive cord.

You can experiment with this right now. Dig one of your fingernails into your thumb enough so that it's uncomfortable. Then, bite the inside of your cheek. Whichever one is more "painful" you notice, the other one goes numb. You can see-saw this effect back and forth.

Mind you, this does work, within reason. Like... if you have a headache, you can apply pressure to the webbing between your thumb and index finger. It will help provide some temporary relief. But would not work if, say, you have a toothache and you tried to stub your toe.

Maybe the earth is flat and all the continents are on 1 really big floating island in a vast sea.
So the island is floating around here and there so when NASA show us a picture of a land mass near a curve, it's just that the big arse island has floated over to an edge.
