The CG is subtle. Used to pretty it up and add flavour. Like a fine garnish next to a perfectly cooked steak.

Just to throw it out there... there's something to also be said for CG cutting down on injuries and deaths on the set. Had they done this more authentically you run that risk and your insurance rates for the stunts go through the roof when you're using real action. This movie got it right on every level.

The 80s was a different time!
The 80's and in Australia where different times... there is a docu about film making and its birth of Australian cinema (MadMax was one of the main features of getting that market to actually work) - one of the best quotes was "We used actual sharp shooters for shoot out scenes..." they shot live ammo at the rocks and stuff inches away from actors in westerns and stuff before squibs or whatever where used.

Worth a repost.
Finally recovered after War Boying it up all weekend. Only 1 other couple spotted in a Mad Max-related costume. I weep for society.
