is glen friendzoned or just a slave to sally at this point...i..i can't seem to wrap my head around it.
I think Sally clearly digs Glenn (why?? he's a fuckin weirdo - but whatever it's TV). You could see it when he went in the other girl's room. I gave them all shit but the girl that plays Sally really isn't too bad. Anyway, I think it's morel like Glenn friendzoned Sally

Who plays the son now? He looks really familiar. I like that kid. Isn't it the Draper son #3 or something by now?

It's very rare to have a scene in a TV show with a bunch of kids talking to each other that isn't pretty painful to watch due to the acting. Kids that can act are very rare and one show isn't going to get that many of them. There's a reason that teenagers in movies are usually played by 25 year olds.

The kid playing Sally is solid. Don't hate her like I do with the majority of kid actors. Glenn is certainly fucking weird though. Not sure how much of that is intentional and how much is the kid having no range. Also the Pete stuff is pretty sweet.

I love the fact that Pete still has that gun from season 1(?) in his office.

Sally is still pretty bad but her character is written so that her bad acting can double as awkwardness and she is, at least, consistent in keeping that up. This has been the best six or so episodes of television writing ever. Ken getting shot in the face was a complete shock and Pete getting to bounce around from asshole Pete to sympathetic Pete to asshole Pete but I understand why he's an asshole back to asshole Pete and then him caving to Bob's con in order to keep up his further advancement was perfect for the atmosphere that has been built up in the office. Don one upping Ted and saving his ass/putting him in his place was a nice note to the cons overcoming the honest man's game vibe. Too much Betty and Sally story was like fucking nails on a chalkboard when everyone in the office was right on the edge of their finale stories. Don in the fetal position on the heels of him shifting power back towards him Roger and Cooper was pivotal. Harry Hamlin has done more by basically doing nothing this season than any other character that I can think of to bring to mind.

Their relationship strikes me as being similar to Don and Peggy's. Don doesn't really want Peggy, but Don doesn't want anyone else to have Peggy either. The difference being, Don and Peggy's relationship doesn't really have anything to do with romance, but the complicated mentor/student relationship they have formed. Don has never really shown any jealousy over people Peggy's dated (that I can recall), but he wants to be someone she looks up to. He never took Peggy leaving SCDP well, and Ted has obviously replaced him.

Sally using Rollo coming onto her to interrupt Glen's fun-time was very similar to Don sending the new budget to the aspirin people and telling them the ad was Frank Gleason's idea.

Too much Betty and Sally story was like fucking nails on a chalkboard when everyone in the office was right on the edge of their finale stories.
I've been disappointed that the storyline they started with Betty at the beginning of the season (Sally's friend running away making her reflect on her own life, her interacting with the poor and trying to reinvent herself, etc.) basically just dropped off after the first episode. It was the first time I've really been interested seeing where a Betty storyline was going to go, and I know I wasn't the only one to say so. There have been some subtle shifts in her character (mainly in how she interacts with Don and Sally), but it felt like there was all this lead-up that just went nowhere.

Yeah, I have thought that was weird as well. It is going to have to come up by the end of the season though I think.

I don't get why Peggy and Ted were so angry with Don. He saved that account by sending the budget and coming up with the Gleason lie. If he hadn't sent the budget the guy from the company would have lost his shit; he was already pissed as it was at the increase in the cost he agreed to despite being notified of it. Imagine how pissed he'd have been if they had done all the filming and then told him after the fact?

Also, Ted being angry with Don about getting Tropicana. Don told Harry to leave it be, so it's not his fault that Harry pursued it and hung around in California.

I dunno, it just seems to me like Don did something responsible for a change; something that was for the good of the company and not just his ego, and he gets nothing but shit for it.

I don't think Harry pursued it. Remember after Don saw Peggy and Ted in the movie theatre, when he came home he said "I have a phone call to make" ? I'm pretty sure he was calling Harry and telling him to take the meeting. That's how I took it at least, and if so, that's a really, REALLY personal attack on them. Like oh, you took my protege, now I'm going to undermine you professionally.

They are pissed off because Don both called and then found a solution without telling them about it, a solution that prevents Peggy to get credit for her work. He did the right thing, but in a bad way.

Ah yes I had forgotten about that call he made. That makes sense.

I still don't think he did anything wrong regarding the budget scenario, though.

It was basically a Don/Pete episode and it was convoluted. Pete was doing the right things for the wrong reasons at the expense of the company, Don was doing the right things for the wrong reasons for the benefit of the company (or at least the benefit of him, roger, and burt).

Don was being a spiteful little bitch the entire episode making intensely personal office power plays. For once in his life Pete stopped being a spiteful little bitch while also making more subdued and personal power plays.

Don didn't really do anything "wrong" with the budget, but the less assanine way to have done it would have been to talk directly to Ted. But that probably also would have been pointless. Don basically just ratted on Ted. If Ted had done it to Don, Don would have been fistfighting livid over it. Probably would have kicked Ted's ass in the hallway.

While what Don did was petty, it's hard to find fault with how it benefited the company. He single-handedly saved one account that they might've lost and helped secure a lucrative account despite "giving his word." It was a Pete move. Pete may be a smarmy little shit, but the company knows he's good at what he does because he's so focused on furthering his career that he constantly puts the company ahead of anything personal.

Which was why Pete's decision with Bob was so unlike him. The Pete of old would've immediately thrown Bob under the bus. It would've gotten rid of an up-and-comer that's potential competition while getting him closer to the Chrysler people. But he seemed to realize the strategic advantage in keeping Bob around.

Basically, you had Don acting like Pete and Pete acting like Don. And, as usually happens to Pete, that resulted in someone barging into Don's office to point out what an ass he is, and perhaps Don took it a little harder than usual because someone saw through what he tried to make it seem like he was doing. It was just another chip in his facade which is becoming increasingly unstable.

Best scene from mad men ever:
I have to concur...well, second best just behind Pete's knocked-the-fuck-out scene from last season.

Anyway, when they told Don to act like a baby I thought for sure Don was going to give his "you're fucking kidding me" look and ruin the demonstration.

hah that was exactly what I was expecting...or a silence with a close up on his face until they forget they ever proposed the idea...but him doing that just blew me away lol..

I actually wasn't too surprised Don got into that. He's always taken the business seriously and never minded acting the ads out. Doesn't change the fact it was awesome. Given who was presenting the idea, I could see him being shitty about it but I still think he's willing to give most ideas the benefit of the doubt.

Saving the account wasn't the problem, the way he did it and his motivations were the problem. Twice he has made this pledge to work together with Ted Chaough and twice he has fucked that over for some personal shit. The whole environment in their office is going to be poisonous and it is Don's fault and he gives zero fucks, as evidenced from his "talk" with Peggy.

I mean yeah, he was right, but what he did was not.
