I'm really happy Ken didn't end up dead. That scene shocked me and I'm not sure how you survive a shotgun blast to the face from a foot away, but I thought it would have been kind of cheesy to kill off a character.
They were hunting birds so they would have loaded with bird shot. From what I understand, a person can easily take a hit from bird shot and be ok.

I was glad to see Pete is learning that trying to "out" people never favors him. He tried to out Don to Cooper and was basically told "Who the fuck cares. You aren't as good at your job as he is at his." and then tried to out Trudy's father and was kicked out of his house. At least he's giving blackmail a fair shake.

Pete is very uncomfortable for me to watch. He reminds me of all the people I know that may (or may not) be qualified and good at what they do, but they walk around with a chip on their shoulder and are their own worst enemy. If he'd get over his sense of entitlement, he'd probably enjoy himself a lot more.

I don't like watching Pete because I have very similar sideburns, and it reminds me that I have sideburns that were in fashion in the 1960s.

I hate pronounced sideburns. I notice them. They pull my attention away from everything else. Full beard blends in, "normal" sideburns blend in, half-assing it seems like it takes a conscious effort. It's like a hitler stache or a soul patch. Why put in the effort to leave just that, every, single, day?

Yea I really like that they had him learn from past mistakes and try something new. It shows he is a smart guy and adaptive. So many shows just hand out a list of character traits that a person has and that determines the decisions they make for the course of the show.

I think that's one of the reasons I like Pete as a character so much. He may be a scumbag that I'd never get along with in real life, but I don't really think I could label him as a bad person. He's a complex character who is obviously struggling with insecurities. He wants people's approval, yet he strives to get that purely through his career, stepping all over the very people whose respect he wants. He looks up to Don and attempts to emulate him from afar, but since he doesn't have the benefit of Don's coaching, he is just this poor imitation that screws everything up.

He works so hard for people to like him, yet it constantly backfires, unlike Don who couldn't really give a shit over what most people think about him (aside from maybe Peggy, and I don't know how much she cares if he likes him, so much as he wants to be her mentor) and yet everyone gets along with and respects him, and this is even after Don usually tries to keep people at a distance. Pete just gets in his own way constantly, and only recently seems to be realizing that, and that only took him nearly bringing down his entire life around him.

I can't really think of many characters that are at both times completely despicable, yet someone I find myself frequently rooting for. It's certainly a credit to Kartheiser's acting that he can pull off a character who I enjoyed seeing get punched in the face while being happy when something does work out for him. I'm glad that he seems to have reached his breaking point and is trying a new tact and that the show might end with him becoming a better person.

The last episode was pretty good, but outside of this one, I haven't had much interest in Season 6. It seems to have lost something special that held me for seasons 1-5. I'm not quite ready to give up on the show just yet, but it definitely seems like something is missing.

I don't really care about Megan and her acting. And I haven't seen any amazing advertising ideas the way I have in previous scenes. Don seems to be slipping, and he was why I watched the show.

Ya I find his hair very distracting this season. It's the prototypical, Howard Cosell, TV announcer from the 70's look. He's way too young to be sporting that 'do.

I think each season in this show has been better than the previous.

Yeah, it's weird that someone already invested in the show wouldn't think this is a very strong season. 50 Shades of Draper (shudder) notwithstanding.

The show stopped being just about Don by the end of season 3 I think. But if you do watch the show JUST for Don yeah, I can see how the show would start falling flat.

Don't watch Season 7. Don probably won't "lose", but he will be falling into the grave he's digging for himself. Best case he moves to California (I SAY KENTUCKY), re-centers himself, and lives as happily ever after as Don is able to live. Worst case he stays in New York, Burt retires Roger dies, Don becomes a mega-rich "successful" husk of a man -- estranged from anyone who ever loved him (Betty, Megan, Sally, even Peggy), alcoholic and philandering with no joy in life, and no longer even tormented by the lack of it.

I agree. I think this season is 100x better than the season that was 90% about Don and his divorce etc and had almost nothing to do with the office. The office politics and ad stuff etc I think are far more interesting.

This is by far the most well written show i've ever seen. It amazes me how they keep putting these same characters in new situations and keeping them just as interesting as they were in season one without getting gimmicky. It looks like Don might finally be climbing up from rock bottom. Can't wait for next season, which i believe is also the final season.

Never tell the client you grew up in a whorehouse, Don. Were they bringing in a Don replacement at the end, to interview?

Did AMC also censor Megan saying fuck? Poor Megan. I'm just glad she didn't die, like everyone was predicting.

and fuck Ted, with that ass Peggy, you can get any man
