i have much respect for the office of president. but respect of an individual is earned.
No, it doesn't work like that. He is the President, he holds the office of President. Treat him with the respect the office deserves, like him or not. Don't be a dick toward the President and then say "i [sic] have much respect for the office of president [sic]." Plus, just a small tip, calling him names doesn't make you look smart.

Just my $0.02. Do with it what you like.

Also, looks like the Dutch will be brought in to be impartial investigators in this. God bless the Dutch.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic. If he isn't being sarcastic/trolling then I feel bad. The start of WWI... hell WW2 even, is pretty fucking hard to forget.
Don't be surprised. I asked two random locals what decade WW II took place in and only two people got it right. They all knew intimate details of the Alamo though. Texas education obviously has its priorities straight.

I know this gets brought up every time something significant happens, but it is just amazing how quickly information travels in the modern world. 20 years ago it would have been days before we had all of the information we have now about this.
It's amazing that the news networks are so slow to keep up with social media. Has been little mention at all about the facebook and twitter postings claiming responsibility. Instead I get some jackass talking about fucking EMP's

there could have been dogs on this plane.
I need a list.

If I find out there were dogs dead from this plane I will have to put a funeral veil over my avatar

I would think they have people that literally just scour social media for this stuff. Maybe they just don't report it because its not "official"? I dunno, does seems weird though that things like the separatist facebook post and subsequent take down and others social media stuff isn't used or reported on as often.

It's crazy having a place like Reddit. The entire world is connected to eachother, and news you get from people is first-hand.

24/7 cable news and fully written/edited websites are just poor mediums for this kind of news. Their twitter accounts are probably more suited to deploying news. At first you think, "why can't a group of people paid to handle this shit do as well as unpaid internet browsers?". But you have to keep in mind a place like reddit has thousands of people relating news while tens of thousands of people are sorting it via up/down votes.

For some reason all I can picture is some old retired dude in his 60's or 70's who's a special expert for whatever network. He doesn't even know what Reddit is, much less anything that's come up from it. Dinosaurs in the modern age, still using their analysis techniques from the 1970's and 1980's to piece this together. Meanwhile the rest of the world is about 400 steps ahead.

I guess the media is erring on the side of caution. They even just reported on CNN that Obama is "looking into whether Americans were on board" when anyone who goes to reddit already knows how many Americans, Brits, French, and assorted other white people were on board.

News anchors and experts might look and sound good on tv but they can't adlib for shit.

A guy saying something on social media is not news, it's a source. News is what a journalist delivers after he or she gathers, compares and analyses sources.

I like reddit but remember when they fucked up the whole Boston Marathon bombings? Yeah I don't blame major media for avoiding that stuff so far. If it turns out to be true and they end up never reporting it for cover-up reasons is a whole nother deal.

Removed youtube video that allegedly had a convo between the terrorists:

I'm sure it'll resurface.

A brief translation:
terrorist Bes: Just shot down a plane. Miner's group. Crashed near Enakievo.
...
'Major': So, it were 'chernukhin' guys who shot down the plane. Near the Chernukhino block-post. The cossacks that stay near Chernukhino. The plane fell apart in the sky near the Petropavlovsk mine. Found the first '200' (a corpse). A civilian.
'Grek': What do you have?
'Major': Damn this was a civil flight.
...
'Grek': did they have weapons?
'Major': nothing at all. Just civil luggage, medicine, towels and toilet paper.
'Grek': what about documents?
'Major': Yes, indonesian student's card. From the Thompson University.

what bothers me is if this actually was an attempt to take out an a-26 transport, its really a pisspoor way of doing with homes dotted all along the debris field. there could easily have been burning ordinance scattered all over wreaking havoc in homes and small towns.
