Why can I still not like this movie?

I felt that trailer was terrible especially the heat vision portion ...
Cuz it's the same character and story for the zillionth time. The story will be functional, but no Keyser Soze twists, there will be action but no "flail to the face" ownage like in Braveheart, and there will be villains that will be tough and cool etc but they won't be no Angel Eyes, or Hopkins' Lecter- those dudes could sit and barely move yet oozed menace, violence, intensity.

That's what I feel a lot of these newer style action movies lack, intensity. It's like the color grain and music queue in the ORIGIN part, then the ROMANCE part, now it's INTENSE BATTLE SEQUENCE part etc until it's over. The movie trailers make it seem damn solid, and I bet it will be, but KNOWING that there is ground they won't tread cuz its Superman takes a lot of the edge out of it for me.

Which action movies were Angel Eyes and Hannibal in?

Also I think no country for old men had an antagonist that oozed violence. That was the most recent movie I can think of with an incredible antagonist. I'd say he was better than Angel Eyes by far.

Ya true, Anton Chigur I think the name was from No Country ruled hard, and Joker particularly the engine of chaos dialogue was intense. Though I never really thought about how I was mixing genres there. I was trying to explain why I thought he can't get behind this movie, I often feel similar but don't want to be a wet blanket when broskis are anticipating something.

Some IPs just feel so limited because you know there are lines they won't cross. Re-re-remakes well done or not lack some quality even though the result can be good and quite enjoyable. Knowing a lot of what's going to happen in advance kinda sucks and that is what I think saps the intensity ( like I wonder if in the super battle of the super dudes anyone will even lose a tooth! ). That was my guess as to why he can't get on the hype train.

...and yet after viewing the latest trailer just now...maybe seeing the same old story with up to date FX can be sweet too...fuck me I can feel the superman bromance taking over

Its what happens when you have a really solid actor playing a villain who has a role beyond being a punching bag for the protagonist. Helps when you give the actor enough time and dialog to build up the character, too (something Cumberbatch need more of in ST:ID) to get into people's heads. The best villains are the ones who confound the hero intellectually and philosophically, not physically. Hans Gruber from Die Hard, Ledger's Joker, Roy Batty, Kurtz from Apocalypse Now, Lector from the Silence movies, and Al Pacino's Satan are all really good examples of this sort of thing.

It's pretty much one of their first confrontations and that's why Zod and his crew are still wearing their helmets.

So these 2 new clips came out today? After the big "LAST SUPERMAN TRAILER" came out yesterday? We're up to something like 15 different trailers/TV spots? That is absolutely ridiculous pre-release. There's can't be another movie that's ever had so many "different" trailers.

This movie is so awesome they have to leak out little bits or it will go into critical mass.

Do you live with loved ones, or have a good emergency contact? I worry for you if this movie disappoints...
Nah, I'm not worried. If it disappoints I'm just going to make a new thread about it a year from now and tell everyone that it is one of the greatest movies ever, you guys just aren't smart enough to understand that.

I will call it "Man of Steel (Superfriends 0) - 1 Year Later."

You read the article I linked earlier? This advertisement blitz they have been doing has almost put them in the black already. Can you even fathom that?

A "blockbuster" super highly anticipated movie that cost a quarter of a billion dollars to film is profitable before the public even sees it .... insane. All just from hype alone.

They could just not release the movie at this point and send the world into chaos and not suffer from it.

Well he said disappoints, not turns a profit. It could make a billion dollars, but if it sucks he's worried that I might carve a giant S in my chest and jump off the top of a tall building or something.

If I did, I'd film it at least.

Yeah I just quoted him as a reason to say that this movie won't ever dissapoint the producers. It's a cash cow even if it's a total flop.
